VINTAGE ABU GARCIA AMBASSADEUR 5500D REEL REALLY NICE LOOK
I am very happy to offer a Garcia 5500D for auction. This reel is better than good. There is very little paint loss on the reel. It works and does all that it should. If I was the new owner I would probably want to change the line and oil it. I doubt it has ever been done. Somebody took really good care of this reel and I got it with a hand made or special made rod. I think this would be a great addition to any collection. You will not see many 5500D in this condition. I called it"vintage" but I really don't know how old it is. A Swedish made Abu Garcia Ambassadeur wide free spool casting reel. Appears to have an all aluminum frame and one metal side plate. The other side plate is plastic that shows light scratches. All the original print is so worn I can't determine the model. I can see"660? It has a star drag. Power handle, 3 ball bearings, cast control, and a warning"clicker" The really unusual thing about the reel is the foot is stamped"Sample" and has no serial number. Cleaned, serviced and re-assembled and ready to fish. The reels are as follows; 1 Ambassadeur Mag 1, one Ambassadeur XLT2, 1 Ambassadeur XLT1 Syncro and 1 Ultra Mag(decal is missing with specific model) Also included is one spare spool that will fit the Mag1 and the XLT 1 Syncro. Three of the reels have flipping switches, three have the Camlock quick change side plates. I don't believe the Mag 1 originally came with one but has one now which I think is better. The serial numbers are as floows; Mag 1 is 84-3, XLT2 is 85-0, XLT1 Syncro is 86-0 88=89 and the last reel Ultra Mag(missing label) is 821006. Up for auction this week I have several reels that I bought all together in a box at a sale. I cleaned up the best 2 and also just sort of wiped the others off. The are all older vintage reels with a few Mitchell 300 series and other assorted brands. I am selling all of them and most are in great working condition unless I specify otherwise. For sale is a very nice used rare vintage Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 5500c Syncro Drag Baitcasting reel. This reel was made in 1989 and features the Syncro drag. Which enables the fisherman to pull the handle back a 1/4 turn to reduce drag by 75% for a large fish. The reel has stainless steel ball bearings, high speed retrieve 4.7:1, multi-disk star drag, precision brass gears and will hold approx. 195 yd of 12 lb or 140 yd of 20 lb. the iPad photos of the Swedish Crest side of the reel are too detailed and from a foot away look minuscule. The Orginal! ABU GARCIA- Ambassadeur 5600 AB(Anti-Backlash System) This item is in very Good clean Condition Never Used We finally have a true no backlash reel. Ambassadeur's new 5600 AB and 6600 AB are truly anti-backlash. These reels are equipped with a brake bar above the thumb bar, the line is threaded thru the brake bar then thru the traditional line mechanism. Once you've casted the line, the brake bar will activate as soon as any slack line is felt, preventing backlash. The 5600 AB and the 6600 AB are also available in left-hand retrieve. Model 5601AB(left-hand) is available now and the 6601AB will be available in your local tackle store in September, just in time for the fall Coho and Chinook fisheries. For those of you familiar with ambassedeur reels the 5600 AB is the same size as ambassedeurs 5600 C3 and the 6600AB has ... morethe same line capacity as the 6500 C3. There are several advantages other then the anti-backlash features that are worth mentioning. You can use these reels as spinning reels and casting reels. Your probably wondering what's the difference between these two uses. A spinning reel is primarily used for cast and retrieve method. Hard overhead casts are the norm. Most levelwind reels will backlash when the hard overhead casts are made. The AB series will act the same as a spinning reel and stop the line as soon as the weight hits the water. If your preference is float fishing, you can cast with the anti-backlash system turned on then just turn it off when your ready to free spool. You can also bypass the Anti- backlash system altogether and just use it the same as a 5600 or 6500 C3.
