Vintage 1962 ABU GARCIA AMBASSADEUR 5000 BAIT CASTING REEL
For you consideration is a Abu Ambassadeur 5000. The reel is bright.Clean and sharp. Although I cannot date the reel precisely it is undoubtedly an early example, with the all paperwork dated 1962 and serial number 298290 and the deep red color. mechanically no problems. The brown leather case has the"Ambassadeur of Sweden" logo and brass clasp. It is in overall very good condition. Included is the oil bottle(empty) Spanner and spares/service kit with the usual array of spare parts and brake blocks. It is embossed with 5000 on the lid. There is also a 23 page booklet. up for bid is this Abu Garcia Cardinal C502. All works well on this reel. Before i pulled the old line off i tested out the drag. And it worked smooth and with out any catches. the anti reverse is good. The spool can be popped off with the touch of the button in the center of the spool. The line capacity for this reel is 300 yds. of 4 lb. test, 200 yds. of 6 lb. test, and 130 yds. of 8 lb. test line. The handle can be changed for right or left handed use. The paint is starting to get worn a little but over all in good shape. I looked and found a cardinal C501 and the owner wanted 49.00 for it. The paint was rubbed off all over and did not appear to be in 1/2 the shape of this bigger reel. I think 49.00 is still silly for an old reel. I am going to cut that in more than half and ask for 15.00. My buy it now price has to be 30% larger than ... moremy asking price so if you do not want to wait till auction end, The price will be set at 20.00. Look what I found at an estate sale! A vintage ABU GARCIA AMBASSEDEUR 321 Baitcasting Reel. right handed) This reel has a FastCast Thumbbar. Star Drag System, Magnetic Brake and Flipping Switch. It looks as though it was well taken care of and mechanically sound and appears to have been recently lubricated. It does have some boat rash but appears to have been touched up a little as well. It needs line. A hook and a fish on the end of it all. I still use 321's. Mag 1's and Ultra Mags to fish with but have to many already so am turning loose of this one. This vintage baitcasting fishing reel was made by Abu Garcia in Sweden and is the Ambassadeur 2500C. It is in excellent working condition and comes with the original box in good condition. Oil tube, tools and manuals. The reel feels and looks like a new reel with minor scratches and boat rash from age and use. The stand or foot is marked 701101.
