It is used and it needs a new line guide, otherwise it is in very nice condition, almost no scratches and none of the lettering is worn off, it appears to have been used very little, it needs a new line guide because the ceramic insert that is normally glued in it is missing, the reel can not be used without it because the line guide is plastic and without the insert the line will cut into the plastic, if you have extra parts you can fix it, that is the only problem I found with the reel. This is a starwheel designed for ABU Garcia Ambassadeur 5000C De Luxe made after 1975. And or for 5600CDL model made after 1978(as their earlier starwheel was in tear drop style) This one is custom made in the United States by Simon Shimomura of Fishy Business. Yes. It is plated by 24K gold. This particular design is called a"straight cut" It is totally unused but as a result the surface was not 100% completely buffed in the center area. The area will be covered under the handle for most of the part. That was unfortunate but it is still a very nice piece. There is no plating issue but Simon did not like to list it as a Factory 1st item. Buyer understand this issue on the item when buying this piece.

Recently discovered in our Grandfather's fishing bag. Vintage Garcia Abu Ambassadeur Reel 5000. Complete with all the original accessories. Including the guarantee sheet, and instruction/booklet. The case is definitely showing it's age. Some of the stitching on the top is loose, and the inside is crumbling(see pictures) Needs a loving home with a collector or fisherman!
