In addition to the Ambassadeur 5000C markings it is also stamped with ABU Svangsta Sweden. Unfortunately I can locate no number on the reel base and am unsure if it ever had one or if has worn off. According to my neighbor he believes this reel is from the 60’s. This was not a collector’s reel and was used quite a bit as reflecting the paint wear. The original Gambles price sticker is still on the box and a paste on sticker on the lid of the box states"GAMBLE SKOGMO 50th ANNIVERSARY" My thought is this is the reason for the gold version. The box has some wear to it but the graphics are still good as seen by the photos. There is what appears to be be some type of metal key also included. I picked this item up at an auction about 10 years ago and it has been sitting in my garage ever since then collecting dust. This is a vintage Abu Record Ambassadeur 5000 black spare spool in a wood Abu container with a wood screw lid. The container stands 3 1/2" tall. Both the container and the spool are in excellent condition. The graphics on the container are sharp. Made in Sweden. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Has a little boat rash on the top and has one of the screws broke off on the side plate as you can see in the 3rd picture. I have more reels than I can use and it is time to thin the herd. It could use a little cosmetic cleaning on the outside but I am not sure if I have used it since the last time I had it checked and lubed and that could be this past winter or one or two before that which means it is time as they were made to be used. This is an Ambassadeur casting reel. It appears to be a fisherman customized reel as it has 5500C side plates and what appears to be a 4500C frame that has no serial number on it. Mechanically the handle spins freely. The free spool works great, as does the drag. Cosmetically the reel needs a good cleaning and shows wear including some scratched initials on it.
