Purchased in the 1960's from a traditional and very rustic Paradise Valley. Montana fly fishing pro shop, this genuine Hardy Bros. Alnwick) hexagon bamboo still looks to be in near mint condition- It was purchased as used. Fished about 6x, but looks pristine with no obvious wear, which is the condition I kept it in for the last 40+ years. The rod is a 2-piece with one matching tip. The cork grip is VERY clean and shows no marks or wear. The ferrules are squeaky clean. Hardy C.C. de France 7'9" 2/1 Bamboo Fly Rod
This bamboo fly rod is a 7'9" Hardy C.C. de France 2/1. This rod was purchased by me from a rod builder in Balmoral. Scotland. He had completely refinished the rod"modernizing" it with standing ring ceramic guides. The rod has been completely rewrapped and revarnished and the grip cleaned. This rod casts a 5 wt line a country mile with delicacy. It could be considered a medium fast action for a bamboo rod with a very definite dry fly demeanor. The rod is exceptionally well balanced and is a joy to fish. Although my traditional sensibilities have been assaulted by the addition of the standing ceramic guides, I have to agree with the rod builder that they cast much better than the original guides. Orvis Seven/three 2-3/8 oz 2/1 Bamboo Fly Rod
This bamboo fly rod is an Orvis Seven/three 2-3/8 oz 2/1 with original rod tube and rod bag. Although this rod was an originally listed on the tube as a 2/2. When I purchased it approximately 20 years ago it came as a 2/1. The last time I checked Orvis will make a new extra tip for this fly rod for approximately $150. I have never found the necessity of doing so. This rod is listed for a 3 wt line and casts beautifully with a DT3F. The rod is in the 66XXX serial number range which I believe would place its manufacture somewhere in the 70's or 80's or earlier. To me, this is the perfect smaller stream fly rod with a dry fly demeanor that allows you to cast all day without giving any thought to the weight of the fly rod in your hand. With the exception of very slight grip soiling this rod is in excellent ++ condition. The cane is straight, ... morethe ferrule blue is almost perfect, and the ferrules are tight and separate with a resounding pop. Shipping includes USPS tracking. If you wish to insure this rod. Up for auction is a old bamboo rod I picked up at an estate sale this weekend. I'm sorry I can't tell you much about this rod. It measures approx 9' and 5" when assembled and is in three parts. PLEASE NOTE CONDITION ISSUES: The owners name and state of origin is written on the rod in either marker or paint near the handle. A piece of cork is missing and there is a stain on the cork(see photo's) I noticed a couple of place's where small area's of varnish are missing, the handle needs a good cleaning and shows wear from use. The rod is in 3 sections, the first has one line guide, the second has three and the third has four. I took pic's of them to show the difference from the first to the others. De Bell Special DT4F/6F Bamboo Fly Rod
This is a Fred De Bell Special fly rod. It is in excellent condition as far as I can tell as I am not a fisherman. It belonged to my fathers collection and he was an avid fly fisherman. This rods base measures 36 inches and the tips measure 36 and 36 1/2 inches. One of the tip guides on the shorter tip appears to have been replaced but other than that this rod is in great condition! This is an Orvis Battenkill 2/2 4 ounce bamboo fly rod. This rod was rarely ever fished. It is in absolute excellent condition. All sections are straight and original length. The ferrules are tight and wraps are perfect. I contaced Orvis and they conformed it was built by Ron White in 1990 SERIAL NUMBER 87802. It comes with a soft case and a hard tube case. I also have some Sage rods and some gorgeous reels up for auction too. Take a look!

South Bend Model 47 Bamboo Fly rod refurbished to like new condition
Up for auction is a South Bend Model 47 Bamboo Fly rod it is a 8/12 ft 4/6 wt. 3 piece fly rod in excellent condition with all brand new chrome snake guides and a brand new wooden reel seat. all of the ferrules are the original ferrules that came with it and they fit nice and tight and they have that distinct pop when the rod sections are pulled apart. The handle is the original handle and it still has the original sticker on the handle and it still looks very good I do not think this rod was used much and the cork is nice and clean. I have left the original winding check on the rod as I wanted to keep it as original as possible and I have inspected all parts of the rod and have not found any defects or cracks in the rod at all. The rod has been refinished with three coats of spar vanish and waxed even the South Bend sticker on the rod looks ... moregood on this rod. A new stripper guide and silver twisted hook keeper was added to this rod to finish it off along with a brand new rod tip. This is a very nice Bamboo fly rod that anyone would love to have weather for fishing or as a gift this rod looks great also included with the rod will be a brand new never used custom rod sock. Vintage Orvis Equinox Bamboo Fly Rod
This is an 8'0" 2 piece rod. The rod was originally purchased by a life-long angler and sportsman and I recently inherited it. From reading the history of this model, the blank came from Scotland(it says'Scotlaqnd' on the end cap) and was finished in Vermont. The rod is in excellent overall shape-the guides are free of any corrosion and the wraps look great! The only wear that I see is on the locking ring for the reel. Which can be seen in the pictures. Otherwise it looks like the rod wasn't fished very much. I have lawn cast it with a 7 weight and it loaded nicely. I am sure it could handle an 8 weight line as well. It looks to be a great rod for steelhead or for fishing the larger rivers out west. Given the condition it would also make a nice collector's addition. Refinished by same in late 1960's and unfished since. Condition excellent+. The painted label on tube is partially rubbed off. No dents on tube but shows minor wear. Grip end appears excellent. Bamboo appears to be in excellent condition. The decals are partially rubbed off. Those are the only defects on the rod that I know of. I am not an expert. Heddon #14 bamboo VINTAGE Fly Fishing rod 8'6" 2F
Vintage Heddon(James Heddon& Sons) made in Dowagiac. Michigan. This is a# 14, 81/2 ft, 2F. Included is the rod with the original sleeve and the original tube. Rod is quite attractive, potentially may have been restored some time ago. Wraps are excellent, ferrules are tight to the cane and the finish of the ferrules is excellent. Ferrule fit is quite good for a Heddon. The tip ferrule fits fully and securely in the mid. All sections are full length and no repairs. Comes with what appears to be the original bag and tube. My guess is that this rod was stored in a safe location for quite sometime. Assembling is fairly easy although a little bit of elbow grease is needed when it comes to the disassembly, for an antique though that is fairly common. The rod appears to be all original, all the eyes are good and do not look as to have ever been ... morereplaced. The original tube does show signs of wear, please see the photos. 1932-1935 SOUTH BEND #77 9', 3/2 Split Bamboo Fly Rod With The Scarce ORIGINAL
Up for auction a Very Nice 1932-1935 SOUTH BEND NO.77 9 FT. 3/2 SPLIT BAMBOO FLY ROD WITH THE SOMEWHAT SCARCE ORIGINAL, CORRECTLY LABELED BAG, METAL TIP TUBE& TIP BAG. One that doesn't show up very often these days, the No.77 was an economy model that was first introduced in 1932 by the South Bend Bait Company and would sell right up until WWII. Because this is finished in what South Bend called"deep brown" and is equipped with the chromed screw-locking reel seat, we know this is an earlier example built from 1932 to 1935. I've added a photo of the original listing from South Bend's 1934 catalog. Rodshaft carries an absolutely perfect"South Bend Bait Company- Quality Tackle" oval decal. On an opposite flat is written"77- 9' in white ink. Built in"Bass" action from nice Tonkin cane and ... morecomes equipped with extra tip section, agatine stripping guide, 9) steel snake guides, hardened steel tip tops, welted South Bend ferrules, hook keeper, metal winding check, screw-locking reel seat, solid cork half-Wells grip and wound in black silk tipped in yellow-gold. The catalog lists the line recommendation as HDH or D, which is equivalent to today's modern 6 wt. line. Rod is in solid Fine condition for these early models, showing just light to moderate wear one would expect from normal use. Bamboo is perfect, with no splits, cracks or delamination whatsoever. All four sections are the correct equal length and are reasonably straight. Original varnish shows some scattered thinning, but remains in pretty good shape overall. All wraps are solid and complete. All guides, tip tops, ferrules(which"pop" nicely) hook keeper and reel seat are in very good condition. Winding check does have a crack, but remains solid. Solid cork grip shows only light wear. A great rod to collect or fish. Put up in the rather scarce original bag, which shows some ancient soiling& fading, but no holes or tears at all. The rod, in the“French” matte oil finish, appears to be original in every respect, except for one of the top guides, and there is no need of repairs- save for several winds of silk at the hook keeper. vintage bamboo montague manitou fly rod
This is an old Montague Manitou octagon bamboo fly rod with 4 total pieces and the original canvas rod holder. The bamboo is a rich brown color and appears to be in fine shape with no cracks. Splits or breaks. This rod measures approx. 9 1/2' As you can see from my photos, one of the rod tips is missing the guide, but the rod tip itself IS NOT BROKEN. It is only missing the guide(easily fixable) It has the Montague Manitou sticker on the side of the rod, and the sticker is missing parts of it, but still easily recognizable. Everything else appears to be in good order. This old fly rod is different from any other Montague Manitou fly rods I have seen, as the reel end of the rod is extended with an additional cork grip(usually have only one cork grip) And even more interesting is the black knob on the end of the rod that free spins. This rod is marked as you see in picture 2 on the bamboo. Golden Compac. on the cork handle it is marked but hard to read. Another Compac Quality Product Of Japan. or thats what it looks like, its hard to read. This is almost 8' 6" when together, and about 34 1/2" when apart, all 3 sections are almost the same length. There is a nick on the cork handle at the top a little bigger than a pencil eraser size, i see a couple broken threads on 1 eye or line guide, i think you can see in picture 6, the rest of the eyes look good. Bamboo fly rod BOAT ROD. sea rod. ocean fishing reel.
Used. very well taken care of. oiled. cleaned. BUT original condition. original components. Original varnish, wood grip, seat ect. ect. very heavy. boat rod that was used in the ocean. it has some. Corrosion from salt water. but very little, I cleaned it well when I used it. so you have to look hard to see it. but this rod was used well and as a builder know its still good for another hundred years. it would be a great show piece if re furbished. little is needed now, new thread perhaps, and varnish. stone guides. orange. all matching and original. the two issues I have with it. is there is the smallest crack in the lower ring on the reel seat, witch makes it a touch loose( there was when I got it a thin layer of scotch tape. And on the reel there is a crack in the plastic( Bakelite) aside from that its totally finical I use it up north trolling ... morefor muskey, and for sturgeon. this still will work for sea fishing. Reel is a Big.sucker. A Pfluger 2048 3.5 inch across. 3 inch wide spool. mod. SEA-VUE. aside from the crack in the plastic, its a very good reel that works and I actually use at times. comes with original braded backing. could be changed. Made in the u.s.a. mechanical thumb works. on- off leaver works. thumb drag works, wheel by the handle) and aside from the crack. from I bet it was dropped cause its a HEAVY reel. its in perfect order not even scratches on it. polished brass. only the inside spool has some wear, not as chrome, due to salty water. but good still. good rod I actually use. oh. Rare vintage Phillipson made i mpregnated split bamboo fly rod. Rod was made for the Grand Teton Lodge Company near Jackson Hole Wyoming. I suspect 1970's vintage. The rod is a 2-pc(2/1) Bamboo Fly Rod(1-butt section and 1 tip section) It is m arked on the butt section as follows: Grand Teton" Impregnated" Crafted Exclusively For" a little tough to read due to loss of some writing on rod shaft) Grand Teton Lodge Company" By Phillipson" 7 1/2' 4&3/4oz" or 3&3/4.tough to read as well for same reason) Additional important d etails about rod are as follows: I found the rod with a broken tip section in a friends collection in the summer of 2008. I would say that the butt section needs to be refinished since it has some heavy varnish build up from being re-coated at some time. NO RESERVE AUCTION You are bidding on a beautiful like new(looks original. If restored was performed professionally) Wright McGill Granger Aristocrat GA7030,7 ft, 3 oz. 2/2. 2 pieces with 2 tips. This rod has the elliptical full wells or hammer handle grip and is considered the first Bill Phillipson rod taper design. Made between 1947 and 1952 and according to Michael Sinclair's book Goodwin Granger The Rod Man from Denver. The rods are not very common. Includes original cloth sack in perfect condition, and the original aluminum tube in good condition one small dent. The rod casts a Cortland 4 weight DT Sylk fly line beautifully. All sections are equal length, straight as an arrow, reel seat functions and is like new, ferrules are perfect. This Aristocrat looks as if it had the A grade bamboo as all the nodes line up and are offset every ... moreother node. If you want a 7 footer to fish this is it. All the wraps look great. The cork looks really good very slight ridging from honest use. The cork on one side of the hammer handle is slightly worn down from use. I tried to portray this in the pictures. Varnish is really nice. This is one heck of a great looking rod and it is ready to fish as is. This rod. For those that don't know is positioned as an upper mid-grade rod and used bamboo that was not quite good enough for the Registered and Deluxe but better than the Special, and way better than the Victory or Champion. Wright McGill Granger Victory GV8642 8 foot 6 inch 3 piece 2 tip Bamboo Fly Rod
You are bidding on a beautiful used original Wright McGill Granger Victory GV8642. Beautiful rod ready to fish. The rod casts a WF5 or DT6 fly line beautifully. All sections are equal length with exception to one tip that is short by 4 inches. Straight as an arrow, reel seat functions and is like new, ferrules are perfect. If you want an 8.5 footer to fish this is it. All the wraps look great. The cork looks and feels new, with some slight dirt from honest use. I tried to portray this in the pictures. Varnish is really nice. This is one heck of a great looking rod and it is ready to fish as is. The cardboard rod tube is in really nice shaped. With only a couple spots missing paper, see pictures. The 8 ft 6 inch length in my opinion is great for the fisherman out there. Rather than the collectors. Let the collectors keep paying way to much ... morefor the shorter rods that don't have the length to high stick or mend the way a fisherman needs to catch fish. The shorter rods, may cast a little better, but I would be willing to bet these longer rods catch more fish, since you have the length to maneuver the fly. Orvis Impregnated Special - 2pc - 7ft - vintage bamboo fly rod
I've never fly-fished in my life(all the tasty catfish are at the bottom) But i'll try my best to answer any questions. Specific picture requests are welcome. From hours of research and a quick inspection. All I've discovered is that this is an Orvis Impregnated"Special" without a serial number. It's slightly over 7' due to the handle being replaced, and also has one unoriginal guide. The ferrule appears to fit snug, but as I said, I'm no expert. If it were serialized, I'd have a lot more info, but feel free to ask any questions.

Near Mint HARDY PHANTOM 8ft Two Piece #5 Bamboo Fly Rod
This is a near mint condition Hardy The Phantom 8ft two piece 5wt bamboo fly rod. It includes the original Hardy Bros. cloth bag and ferrule plug. Only thing I can see to keep it from being mint is the cork is a little dirty from handling. Also included is the aluminum tube which has no markings so I'm not sure if that is original or not. Weighs 113g. Or just under 4 oz on digital scale. The inscription near the grip reads: 5 The Phantom"Palakona" Regd.
