Unfortunately, the ... morelabel and the serial number have also been removed. Possibly a kit rod? With that being said, this rod is in great shape and it is free of any defects. Its actual length is just over 9' 6" and it weighs 8.3oz. All three pieces are full-length, and they are straight. Please note, the reel seat has some oxidation and I believe this rod originally came with a fighting butt (I could not get the butt-cap off). The ferrules fit tight and they measure 17/64" (they do need a good cleaning). The cork handle is clean, and the bamboo looks amazing. This rod feels like it would handle 9-10wt fly lines (possibly even 10wt+). It would be perfect for salmon or even saltwater fishing.

This auction is for an extremeley scarce 1930's antique fly fishing rod with the original tube and sock. And signed on the rod: GRANGER FAVORITE- and marked on the reel seat: PAT. PENDING- MADE BY GOODWIN GRANGER COMPANY- DENVER,missing the tube label. This 3 piece fly fishing rod has the original extra tip for 4 pieces total. There is no visible damage but there is some wear showing to the cork but no cork missing. All of the connections need to be cleaned. This rod is fully functional and in very good condition and appears just lightly used. The sock is in very good condition showing just light storage wear with no damages. The length of the rod is 9 1/2' I got it from my Grandfather who is 86 years old and he used it as a child. Very nice old rod! The tube has a dent in it and no label. No sure of the maker. Most of the makers decal is missing on butt section. There is a capital M in lower part of decal. Rod is all original. and has all its original finish. Thread unraveling above reel seat. All guides and threading are intact. The lower end of the cork handle has a metal cap that is depressed. May have had a larger cap on end of handle at one time? This HL Leonard Rod Co. rod tube is 33" long and 1-1/2" in diameter. It is exactly like the tube that my Model 40 Leonard Rod came with. It has a few minor dings and scratches. However, for a tube that is very similar to those of the 1920s from Leonard, it's in good condition. These rod tubes are rare to find without the rod. Rare Vintage 1951 Nathaniel Uslan Tonkin Bamboo Fly Fishing Rod Model and Number: Deluxe Signed Challenger#101051 and Uslan Inc 9 ft. 5 1/2 oz. 4 pcs. includes an extra tip. It is 5 sided and has nickel silver super"Z" ferrules(invented by Nat Uslan) Complete with 2 cases- maroon cloth case and outside aluminum case with nice etched cover. Originally. This rod was purchased new by our family, but has been stored in metal case since the 70's. Does not appear to have had alot of use. The finish on the rod is in good shape. The cork handle has a few indentations. Maroon cloth case is not torn. But has a slight old odor in the cloth. NEW "VINTAGE" BAMBOO FLY ROD -- 6FT 2-PIECE ROD
New"Vintage" bamboo Fly Rod. This is a 2-piece 6ft bamboo fly rod. 3/4wt line. The blanks are from an old bamboo rod from the 30's-40's. The rod measures 72 ¾” and casts a 3/4 wt line. I stripped the old varnish. I replaced the reel seat with a new aluminum reel seat. New cork grip and new guides. It has the original ferrules. Rewrapped with silk thread. I finished the rod with 5 coats of spar varnish- dipped. The rod includes the new rod sock and a really cool vintage wood rod case. I fished with this rod this past weekend and it casts beautifully. Vintage Bamboo Fly Rod w/ Two Reels ~ South Bend
My grandfather used these rods and reels on lake Eerie. He was a coal miner in PA. He took great care of his equipment. I never thought I'd part with it. But the man named"Bill" is knocking on the door. There are two middle sections, two"end" sections and one section that the reel mounts on. Also included is the original carrying bag with the South Bend tag. Rod# 57 Length 9' Second reel is H-I Utica, NY. All eyelets are intact and firm. The reels are in great shape and work perfectly. I'm an ardent fisherman and thought I would take up Fly Fishing when I retired as I had been able to purchase this exceptional Hardy bamboo rod about twenty years ago from a close family friend that had belonged to their Grandfather. He had 5 Hardy Rods. Two of which they said he had never used. I choose The Kenya. Unfortunately no reels or other equipment were to be found. Now that I'm ready to take up the sport. I feel I should"walk before run" and find some less expensive equipment. While I know very little about this calibre of Fly rods, from what I have been able to determine, my Rod is highly regarded. To my knowledge it has never been fished. Hardy's had indicated that the Kenya Model was built from 1934 to 1957 and this superb Rod was made in 1950. A 24-9’ and HCH or C inscriptions. Each section measures 37” I would estimate it would load nicely with a six weight fly line. The seven inch Comficient cork handle and lite lock reel seat are in very good functional condition. There are four snake eye guides on the mid section(one has been professionally re-wrapped) Four on each tip section and a stripper guide/hook keeper on the bottom section. The rod fits together perfectly when assembled and has the distinct pop sound when removed. It's my pleasure to offer at auction a Spectacular 1949-1952 HEDDON NO.10"BLUE WATERS" 8-1/2 FT. 3/2 SPLIT BAMBOO FLY ROD WITH THE NO.2 FERRULE(STANDARD TROUT ACTION" ORIGINAL CORRECTLY LABELED BAG, LABELED TUBE& ORIGINAL FACTORY PLASTIC COVERING ON THE GRIP. Without question, the finest example of this particular Heddon model that I've ever handled. The No.10 Blue Waters was introduced by James Heddon's Sons in 1934 and would sell continuously through 1952. Because this example carries the Post Classic Era rodshaft markings, we know it was built from 1949 to 1952. Heddon's Cleo Hanley has handwritten"Heddon" in straightline along one flat, Blue Waters" along a second flat and"10- 8-1/2' 2F- HDH or E" on yet a third. The HDH or E is the old line weight designation equivalent ... moreto today's modern 5 or 6 wt. lines. The reel seat locking ring is stamped"PAT. NO.1807078" the 1931 Patent number assigned to Heddon for the plastic screw-locking seat. Built on a No.2 ferrule(which Heddon termed"Standard Trout" action) from nice browntone Tonkin cane and comes equipped with extra tip section, Perfection guides& tip tops, welted& serrated nickel-silver ferrules, NS winding check, flip-ring hook keeper, black plastic buttcap, screw-locking"Screw-Tite" reel seat of nicely swirled Pyralin, solid cork grip w/original factory plastic wrap and wound in red jasper silk. I've added a photo of the original listing from Heddon's 1949 catalog. Rod is in exceptional Extra Fine condition, showing little evidence of use. Thomas. F. E. 8’6” The Houston” bamboo fly rod. Well, just when you think you have seen everything, up jumps a rod made by Ed Houston, Fred Thomas’ brother-in-law, who became the foreman at the F. E. Thomas Rod Co. One of the interesting things about this three-piece rod is that, while it does have a Thomas down-locking reel seat, the butt cap itself is not marked with the F. E. Thomas stamp. This, then, is a“The Houston Rod, not a F. E. Thomas rod, although obviously made in the shop with Thomas materials. If one looks at the walnut reel seat filler, there are indications that a reel has been on this rod, but aside from that it appears to be almost un-used. Both tip sections are full length, and there are no repairs– nor are any needed. The cloth bag fits the rod(there is no Thomas hanging tag) so I assume it is correct, and everything comes ... morein a Champion brass capped tube– as did F. E. Thomas rods. Leonard. H. L. 8’0” model 40DF“Hunt Special” NEW bamboo fly rod. This is, without question, one of the nicest Maxwell-styled Leonard rods I have seen. The bamboo has not been cooked, rather it has a nice golden brown tone that is very pleasing. The serial#8364 denotes that this 4 oz. rod was made in 1983(Tom left the shop in 1982) just a year before the shop was closed by the IRS. It comes with the mortised maple reel seat and the Hunt model blued nickel silver sliding band and marked butt cap. The plastic is still on the cork grip. There is a nice swell just ahead of the cork handgrasp, and a low-bridge agate stripping guide which was also a Hunt model trade mark. There are graduated decorative intermediate winds in brown silk on all three sections. This rod has never been used– ever. It comes in the original Leonard cloth bag and the brass ... morecapped tube that Tom Maxwell designed when he came to Leonard in 1977. This 4 DTF rod is immaculate, and will no doubt find an appreciative new home.

There is a decal on the bottom section. The bottom and mid section measure 35” and the tip section is 32 ½” I would estimate it would throw a three to four weight fly line. The six inch cork handle and screw down lock reel are in very good functional condition. There are two snake eye guides on the mid section(one had been professionally re-wrapped) Three on the tip and a stripper guide/hook keep on the bottom section. The rod is in superior original condition with some soiling on the grip from handling and some incidental reel marks on the spacer. It just sparkles. Came across this old 9 ft 3 piece bamboo fly fishing rod made by South bend. Its rod model number 47- 9. Would make a great restoration project. Wall hanger, or fishing rod. The condition is average for its age. The cork handle is rough looking as you can see in the picture. This is a vintage bamboo fly rod in excellent condition. I can find no apparent damage. The cork handle is intact. All the line guides are original as are the wrappings. Above the handle. The rod us signed Governor and has part of the original trademark label. I do not recognize the label. But it is American made in NY. This is a very nice bamboo fly rod. The glossy finish is beautiful. The condition of the rod is superb. It includes two tips. U have no idea as to the size or weight of the rod or tips. This Japanese combination bamboo rod started life as Amico's No.3330 3 way fishing outfit. The spinning rod function has disappeared. Leaving the 5 foot casting rod and the 3-piece 8 foot fly rod. The rod shafts and the finish are in very good condition. The cork grip needs a but cap to keep the sliding rings in place. The female ferrule on the butt section needs to be reset since the glue has dried out. There are three nymph flies included in the box. Ohio. 1- 93" vintage 3 piece telescopic copper rod. Good condition for its age. 1- 9' three piece vintage bamboo fly rod in good condition. Comes with an extra tip. 1- vintage bamboo fly rod. This one is missing the end piece so only comes in two pieces. Both bamboo rods have a cork handle but I could not find a brand on them. Also a homemade bamboo fishing pole. Up for auction is a Rare Vintage Horrocks-Ibbotson Admiral Deluxe#10 Registered No.121 Genuine Tonkin Cane Bamboo Fly Rod with a Vintage Utica Automatic Fly Reel. The decal on the rod indicates it is from the 1950's. The writing on this rod is not the typical"WHITE" lettering. The rod is made in Utica.N.Y. as well as the reel. It is a 3 piece rod with an extra tip. All sections of this rod are straight with no cracks or warp. All threads and ferrules are original and in great shape. It measures 9 feet. The cloth bag is in excellent condition with no tears. The metal tube is in good condition and appears to have been repaired on the cap, but still works.The decal has one scape on it.
