Vintage bamboo fly rod made in Utica NY location of both Devine Rod Co. and Horrachs Ibbotson Co. I do not know who made this rod but it seems to be a fairly nice rod- the two tips are in very good condition showing very little use if used at all and come with tip tube and tip sock- the butt section has the stripping guide taped on and missing guide on middle section- I don't see any splits or delamination but the two bottom sections need a little work to get them ready to fish such as cleaning.Guide and finish coating. The label is almost gone all I can make out is Utica,the down screwing reel lock has REEL TITE UTICA stamped on it- the second t in TITE might be a different letter but think it says TITE. Wonderful find of a H.L. Leonard Catskill fly rod in 100% original condition and very lightly fished.8 1/2ft long 3/2. Each section is exactly 34 1/2" long and comes in the original brass capped aluminum tube with storage bag and hang tag. All wraps are tight and unbroken. No repairs or restoration ever.80+ year old true vintage item, patina to rod storage case brass ends, uncleaned and as found condition, slight color change to agate color to one tip. Darkening to cork grip. very small amount of chipping to the varnish near the hook holder(see photos) Other than that this rod is exactly how you would want to find it. A few minutes of polishing to the ferrules and grip and it would gleam like a new dime. I will let the new owner do that. It also has# 0470115(unclear on last digit. Could be a 3 or 6) The guides are in good condition. However one guide is missing from center piece. Tip is good. Selling as is please see photos as they are part of the description. In my efforts to find out more detail on this rod. I did find that South Bend Cross Doublebuilt rods were made between 1939-1946 most likely by Wes Jordan.

Up for auction is this Vintage Senate 3pc. Bamboo Fly Fishing Rod. Patented,Sleeve& case The cork and sliding ring seat are in good functional condition. The eye guides are in great condition, most of of the ties for the eyes are perfect, there are a couple of them that could be retied. This rod has been kept in storage in its container for a lot of years. Rod has a"Senate" and Patent Date of April 2 07 inscribed on its handle. Varnish has a couple of rough spots, from being in the sleeve for so long. Some of the lint has stuck to the pole. Sleeve has an unreadable label on it and the case has"Quality Tackle, South Bend Bait Company" on its top I am not an expert, please email with question. Vintage 8'0" Bamboo Fly Fishing Rod in Wooden Case
This is a vintage Bamboo Hexagonal Split cane bamboo Fly Fishing Rod in original wooden case with vintage fly fishing items. This classic 8'0" rod consists of three pieces with an extra tip. Kiraku& Co. Inc. in Japan is the only name visible on the items in this wooden box. There are several flies. Silk line, hooks, wooden bobbers and wooden line winder in this case. Some of the items are still in the original cellophane wrappers. The case is 34" long x 3.25" wide x 3" tall. There is a hinge and clasp system for opening and closing. The box is in very good condition for its age. Half the box has compartments with slide wooden slats that cover the small pieces of the tackle. This rod and box dates to the late 1940s or 1950s. Just after WWII during the reconstruction of Japan. The so-called"Occupied Japan" ... moreperiod from 1946 to about 1952, all sorts of small manufacturing industries were founded on reconstruction aid and subsidized labor. During this time a whole bunch of rod makers emerged, producing beautifully made split cane rods and tackle often in these custom made wooden presentation boxes for export to USA markets. VINTAGE Bamboo Phillipson Pacemaker Fly Rod HCH Line off 5 5/8 oz
This VINTAGE Bamboo Phillipson Pacemaker 9' Fly Rod is in like new condition and appears to have never been used. It has no rust and has all of its eyelets are in perfect condition. The cork handle is fully intact with no nicks, it does have very very minor wear on the top and bottom which appears to be from moving in and out of the fabric packaging, please see pictures. The top section does have a slight bend, please see pictures. This rod comes with its cardboard tubing, including original labor, with metal screw cap as well as with the interior fabric packaging. This is an absolute gem and a must have for any fly rod collector.

You are bidding on a vintage bamboo fly rod that is 7' 7" long. It comes in 3 sections and was a Sunlight rod. This rod is in need of a total makeover. You will need to put on new snake guides and all. The cork will also need to be replaced. I was going to learn how to repair my own rods but the guy who was going to teach me is no longer available. 800x600 This is a vintage Jorgensen 3-pc bamboo fly rod. There is no model number on the rod but the rod sock is marked Model 85. It is 8 ½ feet long and has a very light action. There are 2 tip sections. They feel to be the same action. It is in god condition as the pictures show. All the guide wraps are intact and the cork is in excellent condition. The second guide up from the butt is missing. There are some spots where the clear finish is cracking and needs to be redone. Also included is the cloth sock. It has a few small holes. Goodwin Granger 9660 Denver Special Bamboo Fly Rod, nice shape
Vintage Goodwin Granger 9660 Bamboo Fly Rod. With a vintage top(not factory, I believe) and vintage bag that has protected this old rod. Very good, has been refinished to a OK status, excellent slide band seat, very good cork grip, signature wraps were not accurately done, OK wraps are secure and would look far better if given a few more coats of varnish(wraps seem to be properly placed) butt and mid of original length and very straight, 1 tip(seems original with the color and 3X3 node spacing that was standard with Denver Specials- yes, the butt and mid are 3X3 node spacings) is straight with a slight set within the last several inches and is 3/4 inch short, the second tip is a replacement(darker cane, without 3X3 node placement) is not as straight at the ferrule exit but could be easily straightened(it is a heavier taper) ferrules are all ... moretight to the wood, butt to mid ferrule fit is OK(no real pop) both tip ferrules release with a moderate pop, snake guides look vintage and tip tops are replacements(to my eyes) for me a typical 9660 action- a strong 6 weight, maybe a 7 weight with those usual sensitive Granger tips.as expected the cane work is gorgeous- the refinish might be tung oil rather than varnish. Intact GG Denver Specials are very special and if restored to better order, quite beautiful. Would be a fine vintage rod to enjoy or a fine large river and lake rod for nice trout or smallies/bass/pike and whatever grabs your big fly. Art Weiler 7' 4WT Bamboo Fly Rod - Used
Up for auction is my Art Weiler No. 202EF bamboo fly rod. I had this rod built in the mid-80's when I was stationed at Ft. Richardson. AK and used it to fish a couple of the small stocked trout ponds on base. Rod has spent most of its time since then in the closet being occasionally pulled from the tube to look it over. This is Mr. Weiler's Garrison reproduction fly rod in flamed cane. It is a 7 foot 2 piece rod for a#4 line and features a nickel silver screw uplock reel seat with cocobolo insert. Chrome guides, pine green wraps and two tips. Includes original sock and tube. Overall condition of the rod is very good. Cork handle is soiled and the tube has numerous scratches and rub marks. Vintage Union Hardware Tonkin Cane Bamboo Fly Rod
This is a vintage union hardware Tonkin cane bamboo fly rod in excellent used condition. Fly rod is in like new condition and comes with original sock. But no tube. Rod is a 3 piece and comes with extra tip. Fly rod is in all original condition and line guides are clean, tight and pieces are very straight. First line guide looks to be slightly bent but still very glossy and tightly wrapped. Length of fly rod is just over 9 feet and each piece is about 37 inches in length. Union hardware and made in the USA is stamped on reel seat of rod. Handle is very clean and shows no wear as rod may have only been used once or twice, reel seat is made of plastic. Don't know much about fly fishing. My grandfather tells me this was made in Japan he thinks in the 1930's or 1940's. It's vintage. It's in good condition but the box that contains it does have some damage. However. It still functions. It comes with 12 flies and other accessories that I don't know what they are. For sale is this very nice San Francisco Winston Bamboo Fly Rod built by Lew Stoner in 9' 5 1/4oz 2/2 configuration. Script indicates"Built for Vernon E. Mitchell. R.L. Winston serial#7215 pat no 2539488, and Winston confirms that this rod was built during the heralded Stoner era at Winston. Both tips are full length and dead straight. Each tip has a professionally done clear repair wrap over a small hook dig apparently done at the Winston shop many years ago. Both tips are solid and powerful. Varnish and wraps are Excellent +, duronze ferrules fit well and pop when separated, grip and bakelite spacer appear only lightly used. I like it with a DT7 or WF6 line. Nice WW II Japanese bamboo spinning/fly rod with original wood box. Fly rod has 4 pieces. And one of the four pieces is a spare tip. Rod with 3 pieces is about 9' in length. This rod will need a few guides replaced and all guides rewound as the thread is over 60 years old. Reels are Martin classic. One with floating line, one with sinking line. Spinning rod has 2pieces as described inthe fly rod, severa,guides. Eed to be replaced and the iopoguides rewound. I do not have a vintage spinning reel. Wood box. This is an item of unknown manufacture. The word"Pioneer" is on rod above handle. Part of this is worn off. So that is an educated guess. Rod is in need of repair.Wrap on ferrule of handle piece is damaged. Male ferrule on center section is split and poorly repaired along with one eye being rusted through.Tip section has one eye rusted through as well. Remaining eyes. Handle, reel seat and wrappings are in good condition. Also includes original rod sleeve which is in fair condition. Missing upper tie and a couple small holes in back side. A classic from Orvis! Vintage 9-foot 3-piece. 2-tip Orvis Impregnated Bamboo Cane Fly Rod in original bag and tube. A light salmon rod from the Wes Jordan era, all sections straight and full length. Slight soiling of grip, a couple of tiny cork flakes and a mark on the seat where the reel foot snugged down are about all I see that keeps this from a'mint' rating. Call it excellent. Early-style paper label on tube worn but legible: this is the 6 1/2-ounce model with blued 19/64 and 13/64 ferrules. Rated for a GBG silk line, probably happiest with a small-diameter modern DT-8-F. S/N 4557, built October 14, 1947 by John Rosencrantz. Wife says'sell' but I really hate to see this one go.

VINTAGE 4 PC SEAWAY USED BAMBOO FLY ROD ABOUT 8 1/2' LONG MADE IN JAPAN
You are bidding on a Vintage 4 Piece Used Bamboo Fly Rod. This rod says SEAWAY MADE IN JAPAN on it. It does have two tips. One tip is about 1 inch shorter than the other tip. When I put the long tip on it comes out to about 8 Foot 7 1/2 inches-not put tightly together. The bottom eyelet on the short tip looks a little bent. I would say the wraps on the eyelets look good but will probably need some attention in the near future. The cork handle I would say is in good used condition-no major damage. The reel seat does have a crack in it but the screw still works on it to tighten up the reel-see photos. All of the ferrules look good and pop when you pull them apart so they are snug. All of the bamboo is in excellent condition. The smaller diameter tip shows some light rust to the ferrules. The cork is in favorable condition, no missing pieces. The threaded plastic reel base shows a tight 1 1/4" long crack. The reel keepers are in excellent condition and without imperfections. All windings. Leonard model# 4099 Bamboo Fly Rod. 8ft. 3/2, 4 7/8 oz. serial# 7078. All original and in excellent condition with original bag with hang tag and original tube. This rod provides the power necessary to cast dry flies without fatigue; a stiffer dry fly action than the#50 Hunt model but with a sensitive tip to protect fine tippets and deliver a fly with accuracy. Perfectly straight and tight with excellent cork. Just a delight to cast whether in close or at distance; the high water mark of Leonard! The design allows the angler to make difficult casts with a minimum of effort. This rod shone out from amongst a bunch of rods that were stacked up for sale at a flea market. I disregarded the rest and asked about this one. I was intrigued by the fact that it is handmade. Signed and beautiful. The person from whom I bought it said that the maker was from St. Cloud, Minnesota and that he was active in the 1950s and 1960s. I could not, however, verify any of this information on the internet. As to the rod itself, it breaks into two sections, measures 81" has six eyelets(that is including the tip) and is of five-sided bamboo construction. It is missing the eyelet just above where the rod sections connect, and I believe that it has a new tip(I say that because I feel as if the tip just doesn't quite line up with the eyelets- but I am a true novice in this area of expertise) The rod looks and feels like a fly rod ... moreand has the correct style of eyelets, but the handle is throwing me off. Any ideas? It weighs 5.9 ounces according to a postal scale I have at home. It is signed, Ronald Kreatz" or"Kreaty" I can't quite tell- please consult the pictures) The rod is functional as is, but could very easily be restored to its former glory by someone with some knowledge of and experience with bamboo rods. This nice vintage 9' split bamboo rod is by an original"Adirondack" made by Horrocks- Ibbotson. Utica, New York. The condition is very nice with no loose eyes or connectors.no loose threads.it has an extra tip section as shown in the photos which matches the other tip section except slightly different eyes. Overall, very nice with light wear.it looks like it may have been re-coated with light varnish many years ago, there are a couple of small glitches in the varnish where it touched something(look at foto 9) which are negligible. The bamboo rod is wrapped tightly every 1 1/2" I can find no cracks or splits anywhere in the bamboo. When the 3 pieces are connected it has great whip motion.very smooth. Vintage Montague 'Flash' 3/2 Bamboo Fly Rod for Repair / Restoration
Welcome To My Auction The item up for bid is one(1) vintage Montague'Flash' 3/2 bamboo fly rod. The bamboo. Varnish and wraps are all in remarkably good condition on this rod. The decal is 95%+. There are no divots in the cork. The two sections that I could get a measurement on measure 36 1/2" for the first section and 36 1/4" for the tip. Now for the demerits: as the photos show corrosion is not a friend to ferrules. First the base section, the reel seat has spots of corrosion here and there that seem to be more or less superficial; the female ferrule is completely corroded through and needs replaced, what remains of the very tip of the ferrule is cemented to the inside of the rod sock(large spot by thumb in final picture) First section: the male ferrule in this section has spot corrosion and a crack, the female has heavy ... morebuild up but seems to be crack free. Tip sections: As pictured on one of the sections the tip top guide ring is gone and the other end of that piece has medium corrosion, on the other tip section both ends are in tact but the male has quite a build up and the tip top has some. Vintage Ray W Head Bamboo Fly Rod
This is a vintage Ray W Head fly rod in fair used condition. Fly rod is a 3 piece but each piece is a different length. Total length of all three pieces is 99 1/4 inches which is a few inches over 8 feet. Looks like it may have been repaired in the past and tip piece does have a little bend to it. It has a very nice feel and looks to be all original with the rainbow colored thread on line guides. Comes with a rod sock. But probably not original sock. You are looking at a used Scott SC 653 3 weight fly rod with extra tip. I got it new off of Ebay a few years ago and I haven't used it. So it's going on the block. It hasn't been fished, just handled a bit and test cast on the lawn. There is the slightest nick on the reel seat from mounting a reel but that is the only flaw that I can see. I'd love to keep it. VINTAGE CUSTOM HORROKCS IBBOTSON GOVERNOR SPLIT BAMBOO FLY FISHING ROD FREE SHIPPING This auction is for a vintage custom refinished four piece 9’ Horrokcs Ibbotson Governor. Made in Utica NY, split bamboo fly rod. There is a partial Governor inscription. All of the sections measure 36 ½” I would estimate the fly line weight at a six. The six inch cork handle and screw down lock reel seat are in very good functional condition. There are three snake eye guides on the mid section. Four on each tip and an agate(original) stripper guide on the bottom section. All of the guides and tip top eyes are new and have been professionally rewrapped. The rod fits together perfectly when assembled and has the distinct pop sound when removed. There is a slight bend in the female ferrule on the mid section which causes a slight set. This will NOT affect ... morethe use or casting of the rod. I meticulously stripped the old varnish. Refinished with four coats of spar varnish and completed it with high quality wood rubbing compounds. The ferrules have been buffed and polished. The light brownstone colored bamboo cane and varnish finish are gorgeous. Excellent vintage EBISU bamboo fly rod and bait rod COMPLETE with ALL accessories. Fly rod is a 8' 3/2(3 pieces with 1 extra tip) All guides and ferrules present and in good order, tight wraps and very good varnish. Label is present with a little flaking on one side. Cork and reel seat are very clean and a rubber stopper for hole on seat end.Handle reverses for a 2 piece 5'4" bait casting rod. Made in the 1950's in Japan and brought back to the USA by many.
