Here for sale is a vintage split bamboo 8 ft 6 inch fly rod. There are 4 pcs. to this rod. 3 pieces plus and extra tip. All of the sections measure 35" inches each. The overall condition is great, but the one section of the first rod with the cork handle has loose threading around the eye. This fly rod is all original, but has no marking and may be a Granger or Montague. The metal on this rod is still shinny without any rust or corrosion and the cork handle is superb condition. There are no major repairs or damage to this pole and it only has usage wear and is in good functional state. The first section of the handle has one eye, the second section of the pole has two eyes with the third section having three eyes. The pole is a three section unit that includes an extra tip. The vintage fly rod has the cloth wrap, but does not include ... morethe cylinder/ metal holder. The varnish is in good condition with some minor color fading to some parts of the threading. VINTAGE BAMBOO FLY ROD/ CASTING ROD SPLITSWITCH??? COMBO
Vintage Slip Switch-style bamboo fly/ casting combo. There isn't a manufacturer's designation on the rod or hardware except for a'700' in script just above the foregrip. The rod measures about 5'7" when assembled as a casting rod and about 8'7" as a fly rod. The tip section of the casting portion and the middle fly rod portion are equal in length. The fly rod tip is about 3/8" shorter. The finish appears to be original and is in very nice condition with few blemishes/ hazy/ rough spots. The male ferrule of the bottom section has a hairline crack. But still fits well in either end of the butt section. The other ferrules fit very nicely together as well, though the bamboo shafts are just a tad loose inside them from dried/ aged adhesive. The casting tip section is missing its bottom guide and the middle ... moreguide is loose and needs to be re-wound. The guides and wraps on the fly sections look quite good. Both tips have a slight to moderate set in them. Will be carefully packaged and shipped Priority Mail.

Here is a newly built 2pc fly rod. This was built using vintage cane from a US made fly rod. New cork grip. Reel seat, snake guides and ferrules. This rod may have some of its original character, some twist, set or guide foot staining(variations present depending on the individual rod)but make no mistake, it's ready to fish your favorite water. This will make a great small stream rod. The rod weighs about 3 oz and should cast a 8 wt line. This rod is just under 6 ft long(70" assembled. Nice classic vintage looking cork grip. The colors used blend very well together on this fly rod it is gorgeous. 8' VINTAGE MONTAGUE DEERFIELD BAMBOO SPLIT 3 PCS FLY ROD & PHILLIPSON HARD CASE
This rod was made by Montague City Rod Co. some time before 1930. Stamped Pat April 1907. see photo) Gorham must have sold his patent to Montague. As I've seen this reel seat(with the patent stamp) on dozens of marked Montague rods, and not on rods by any other maker(so far) I've seen a couple other marked Expert rods similar to this. The mortised butts on these rods were usually inlaid with cedar between the cane strips. This rod style was phased out by the early 30's, but Montague continued using this reel seat style into the 30's, and maybe into the 40's. This rod is 8' long 3 sections cork and chrome handle. see photos The second half of this sale includes a rare"Phillipson Challenger Rod" Hard Case. Original labels and tie down case cover.The inside has 2 separate tubes for separation protection.

WRIGHT& MCGILL GRANGER 7030 2/1(2 pc 1 tip) If you want to fish one of these special rods. This is the one. This is not collectable as this 2/1 rod has been totally refurbished but not to original specs(previous owner) It however does not take away from the fantastic action of the Granger 7030 taper. No can say for sure if this is or is not a Granger DeLuxe model as the original model name(stamping) was removed and name"Granger DeLuxe" is hand-written above the handle. It has chrome guides and tip top. The elliptical(hammer) grip, and Granger's patented all nickel silver screw up-locking reel seat(in near perfect condition) The wraps were done with black& white jasper and gold(as the DeLuxe model) but no color preserver was used. This makes the wraps translucent. The original ferrules seat fully. The finish is excellent, ... moreand both sections are straight and full length. The bag is original and has a previous owners name on it, and the tube is a replacement. Note: for comparison. ANTIQUE F.E. THOMAS 9 ½’ SPECIAL” TROUT ROD. UNRESTORED Here is an antique FE Thomas“Special” grade rod. 9 ½’ to collect or display. If you want to fish this rod. It would require restoration, which would be a shame, since it is essentially original with some maintenance done over the years. All sections remain full length. 38 ¾” Nickel silver ferrules are 20/64” and 13/64” English guides. Hook keeper on the winding check, full nickel silver reel seat with a soldered(not drawn) wedding band. No number on the butt cap. The bag looks original to me. And so does the tube, although I have not seen one like it. The cap is machined aluminum with extensive knurling. And the bottom of the tube is swedged(see photos) CONDITION: This rod has been used. Varnish is dull and oxidizing but seems original. Wraps are mostly original except ... morefor some replacements in a correct color. At the ferrules, stripper, and tip-tops. Cork is excellent. Cleaned with no ridging. Ferrule fit remains very tight. No obvious problems with the cane—no cracked nodes. Delams, or clear wraps. There are some dark marks in the cane of the butt section, but these are original to the rod. Vintage Split Bamboo Expert Fly Rod W/ 2 Tips 9' Long W/ Cork Handle
Vintage 4 piece split bamboo fly fishing rod with EXPERT marked on the reel ring that holds the reel to the rod. There are 9 wire eyes on the rod. Thread colors are red and black. There are two tips for the end. The rod holder is square with cloth covering it with dried leather on one end and metal on the other. It had a leather strap on it to hold the rods. But it is broken. Rod is in good shape and threads to the eyes remain intact. It is a nice rod. The tip is 36 3/4" long, second tip is 36 3/4" long, center is 37" long, and the handle is 37" long. All fit in the rod holder snuggly as they where made too. There are no cracked or split bamboo. Both rod tip do have some very light corrosion noted to them. VINTAGE/ ANTIQUE SPLIT BAMBOO FLY ROD NEEDS TLC This is a antique split bamboo fly rod. There is no brand name that I can see. It looks to me like the tip was broken and someone re-glued the tiptop. It is 8'10" long as is. I think it could be reworked and you would end up with a nice little rod. The Bamboo looks to be in good shape and the cork is good it could use some cleanup. The second tip is broken off and the top part is gone. The part that is left is usable and measures 25 inches long. This would make a nice spring project while there is ice on most of the good water. Here is a vintage South Bend 59(9ft) Split Bamboo Fly Fishing Rod. The rod is in excellent condition. It shines glossy and bright, not used much. One issue however, the there is of tape holding ONE of the eyes in place where the winding came loose for some reason, easy fix. The container is in rough condition. This is a hollow built rod weighing 4 3/4oz. serial No.9635 and a wonderful tool for Atlantic salmon wet and dry fly work as well as swinging wet flies and streamers to steelhead and large trout. VINTAGE ALLCOCKS "DAINTY BOY" BAMBOO FLY ROD-3/1-SLANT GUIDES-AGATE TIP & STRIP
This is a Vintage Allcock's"Dainty Boy" bamboo fly rod. The hardware seems to be nickel silver and the reelseat is part of the cork grip that measures 9.75 inches. I has a sliding band for the reel and the stripper guide and tip top are agates. The guides are the early slant guides and narrow for the silk lines. All the guides and hardware are present and in good shape. There are some windings missing on a ferrule and some intermediates. The rod is a 3 piece 1 tip and measures 8.5 feet. The mid is short by 2 inches and the tip is short by 5 inches. I think the rod was to be 9 feet. There is no sock or tube for the rod but I do pack well for shipping. This auction is for a vintage custom refinished four piece 9 ½’ T.H. Chubb split bamboo fly rod circa late 1800’s with new custom storage sleeve. I believe this to be a Chubb rod based on the reel seat. Winding check and spiked ferrules. I would estimate it would balance with a modern day six-seven weight forward line. The 6 ¾ rattan handle is in great condition. The 5 ½” sliding ring reel seat would indicate the rod was manufactured between 1875-1899. It is also in excellent condition. There are five snake eye guides on the mid section. Three on each tip and a snake eye guide on the bottom section. All of the guides are new. This rod is in very good plus condition. One tip section has a slight fishing set. The ferrules are tight, with rolled rims. The metal downlocking reel seat is in good condition, works easily. Heddon #120 Bamboo Fly Rod 8 1/2' - 1 1/2 Ferrule
Up for sale here is a very rare early 1930's Heddon#120 Bamboo Fly Rod. This is an 8 1/2' rod with a not seen very often 1 1/2 Ferrule Size(16/64& 10/64) The rod is very straight and the ferrule fit is excellent. All sections are full length. Rod is nice and light in hand for 8 1/2' Fine tips. I used this rod with a 4 weight line but. Some say it even comes alive with a 3. Only issue is slightly tacky varnish which is to be expected on a Heddon Rod of this age. In a temperate climate it is fine. This is not a major issue. I have fished this rod with no problems whatsoever. I mention it because I want to be very upfront with all my sales. The rod has been stored in a cool and temperate place. So I have had no varnish issues. I would not leave it in a hot car. A coat of good wax will be good enough to leave it as is. I would ... morenot mess with the varnish as this is a rare rod. Edwards Quadrate#50 8' 3/1 bamboo fly rod Here's a classic. This 3/1 rod appears to have been refurbished by the previous owner. The rod has the original cork handle which is lightly soiled. The Edwards black plastic reel seat is in fine condition. It has a yellow plastic bottom cap and a black anodized screw up-locking ring to anchor the reel foot. Although originally the ferrules were blued. Nearly all of that has worn off, leaving them plain colored. The tip top appears to be a new replacement which may explain why the tip is 1/4" shorter than the other sections. This rod casts like a Edwards dream, and it comes with a plain three section green bag(not the tan one seen in the picture) and the tube has remnants of a round Edwards label. Orvis Battenkill Bamboo Fly Rod 7 1/2' 6wt.
I have a 7 1/2' 6wt Orvis Battenkill Bamboo fly rod with two tips and matching serial numbers on all 3 pieces and rod tube. I contacted Orvis and found out that this rod was made in 1969 by Ron"Whitey" White. And Billy Young. Everything looks great on this rod, both tips are the exact same size. The finish is beautiful as are the wraps. The original owners name was put on the rod by Orvis, I've blacked out part of the name in the photo to preserve his anonymity. The tube is good shape, the label is a little worn, but that is to be expected with something 44 years old. The sock is original, it has a small hole in the toe that has been covered with a piece of duct tape, not really worth mentioning but want to be up front about any and all flaws. I haven't fished this rod personally, but I did take it out and lawn cast ... moreit with a cortland 444 DT, and let's just say if this rod doesn't sell I'll be happy taking it out on the stream. I am not sure if it was ever fished. All four sections measure 36 ½ inches long. The original varnish is fully intact and has a shiny wet look appearance. There are no scratches or nicks in the finish that I can see. The original sock is clean and has no damage or soiling. The original shipping tube is included as well. Excellent Lee Wulff Armour Cane Farlow's bamboo fly rod
Excellent rod has two tips that are the same length. They both fit well in the rod nice pop when pulled apart. This rod was designed by Lee Wulff, it is no.509. The length is 8' the weight is 4 1/16 oz. It is armour cane made by Farlow's in Aberdeen Scotland. It has a sock but there are some moth holes in it and it does not have a tube.

Up for sale is a Heddon made Drueding Special Bamboo Fly Rod. This rod is an 8' 1 3/4 Ferrule. A good five weight that is hard to come by. All sections are full length and the ferrule fit is good with one tip a little less snug than the other. Still very fishable with no worries. Looks like it has had an overcoat of varnish at some point. One tip has a downward set. Some nicks in varnish as to be expected. Other than that no issues. VINTAGE RARE 10’ SALMON SPLIT BAMBOO SWITCH FLY FISHING ROD
VINTAGE RARE 10? SALMON SPLIT BAMBOO SWITCH FLY FISHING ROD The rod will be packed carefully and securely in a PVC hard plastic tube. This auction is for a vintage rare four piece Salmon split bamboo fly rod that can also be used as a two handed switch rod. It comes with its original storage sleeve. There are no manufacturer identifications; however it is all the characteristics of a Montague Gaspe model. It measures 10’ 1” and 9’6” with the two tips. I would estimate it would balance with a 10 weight forward fly or spey line. The 7 ¼” cork handle is fully functional. It has a small chip near the bottom which in no way will affect its use. The screw down lock reel seat is in great condition. The removable fighting butt is 7” long. The rubber end cap is not original to the rod. There are four snake eye guides on the mid section. Six on ... moreone tip and four on the second tip section. There is a stripper guide on the bottom section. The rod fits together perfectly when assembled, has the distinct pop sound when removed and is straight. I meticulously stripped the old varnish. Refinished with four coats of spar varnish and completed it with high quality wood rubbing compounds. The ferrules have been buffed and polished. The deep honey colored cane and varnish finish are spectacular. This classic cane rod would be an ideal steelhead and salmon rod and can be used as a modern day two handed switch rod.
