Horrocks Ibbotson, "Beaver" Split Bamboo Fly Rod "Tonkin Cane" 8'6"
Nicely restored approx. 8 ft. 9 inch Horrocks Ibbotson Beaver. There are 3 rod sections. No cracks, or crazing in the finish. There are no defects in the bamboo. The varnish is very good. Both the model Beaver and the Horrocks decal reasonably good shape for being around 70 years old. There are no cracks, corrosion or other ferrule defects. The cork handle and reel seat are new with new insert. All snake guides are double footed with new wraps. I have fished this rod since restoration and it is FUN. Great little 4-5 wt. The original cloth bag is in pretty good shape.

For sale here is a Pre-Fire Leonard 49DF Tournament fly rod in excellent + restored condition. Additional details are as follows: 7 1/2' 3/2- 5 weight with a nice medium-fast dry fly action. Rod weighs 3.8 ounces with size 15/10 ferrules. All sections full length and straight with classic Leonard 3X3 node spacing. Rod was completely redone by Bob Taylor in 2011 and is un-fished since then. This included a new butternut reel seat spacer. New grip made with 3/8" corks, new"China Hat" style winding check, new ferrules for the tips, and a complete re-wrap and re-varnish. Butt cap has"Leonard& Mills Co. die stamp and is marked Tournament. Patent marked ferrules on butt section. English twist guides, agate stripper. Correct narrow diameter Leonard tube. Black Gnat Arjon#28- 8' is written on the rod just above the handle. 3 piece with extra tip. all parts straight. No delamination. The ferrule fit is tight as it should be except that one tip to mid fit is a little loose. I see about 5 missing intermediate wraps including the signature wrap above the name. Ferrules not cracked or split as far as I can tell. The cork grip is worn with missing cork at the point where the reel enters the reel seat. Put together. It is a nice slow action traditional bamboo fly rod, Rod is made in Sweden as noted on the butt end. Comes with well worn rod bag and pvc tube. Vintage Pearl Japan Split Bamboo 5 Piece Fly Fishing Rod W/ Aluminum Case
Up for auction is a beautiful vintage 5 piece Pearl fly fishing rod. Made in Japan. Has a great vintage look. This fly rod is a five piece that has two configurations, the first is a two piece set up that measures a total of about 64" inches. The second configuration is a three-piece that measures a total of about 95" inches with two, changeable end sections. The rod is made out of split bamboo with a cork handle. Both of which are in good condition with some wear. This rod looks like it has had the metal connection piece repaired/ glued at the end of the first section(see pictures) and some of the thread is coming loose in two places. One of the tip eyelets is smashed closed on one of the lighter end sections. The base of the rod. Next to the handle, has a label that reads"Pearl Japan" This lot includes a five piece fly ... morerod and an aluminum tube hard case. The aluminum case measures about 39 3/8" inches by 2 1/8" inches. The case is in good condition with some wear and some small dents. The ferrules are all tight and there is nothing missing or broken. The tip and mid have fishing sets and the butt is pretty straight. There is no tube or sock for the rod. Rod has 8 pieces as seen in main photo with(2 tips) 7 pieces a liitle over 12 inches and the small tip at about 9. they look very clean been in box along time in covered garage. I have no expertise. I put pieces together and they seemed to all match but i did not want to put all the way and get anything stuck and ruin them. one tip had slight bend/crease that is shown in last picture.I thought all eyes looked good and wraps. a little thread loose on one piece next to handle(look at picture)Thought someone might enjoy. thanks

Made by Horrocks-Ibbotson of Utica, NY. This is a 7 1/2' 3 piece rod with one tip section. All sections are original full length. Note the very fine 100% intact and original double diamond banner decal. The rod has been professionally re-wrapped to match the original purple and gold wrap colors. With the thick tipping, and a closely matching replacement female ferrule has been installed on the mid section. The tip top guide is a replacement. Please enlarge the photos. Comes with a cloth covered wood form which has a slot for an extra tip section so I presume the rod originally came with a second tip. Also comes with a canvas bag that fits over the wood form. Hello all. Up for bid is a beautiful 8 ½’ Split Bamboo, South Bend Fly Rod, 346/ HDH or D line size. I found this rod several years ago at an estate sale on Cape Cod. The rod is in beautiful condition and the ferrules pop when taken apart. All 4 sections full length. The only issue I can see with this rod is that on one of the tips, the tip guide looks to have been changed, there is also a small chip in the plastic reel seat, it would be under the reel when a fly reel is attached. Up for bids is a total collector's package! A vintage top grade Heddon Expert 9' 3/2 bamboo fly rod. Model#125 2 3/4 F- GBG or C. It comes in the original sock. Tube and the original cardboard Heddon shipping tube complete with address label showing purchaser with Heddon's return address! For a true collector it doesn't get any better. All sections are proper length at 36 1/2" and all straight. All guides and wraps are sweet. The cork is super. I believe the rod has had a coat of varnish applied so finish is not original but it looks super! The tube is in excellent condition with only a few blems/rubs of paint missing. For some reason it does not have a label on it! Here is a nice older rod that needs some love. I do not have time to restore this the way it should be done. This rod needs stripped and rewrapped. As you can see there are tons of intermediate wraps. It has both tips and comes with the rod holder. It should take 2-3wt line. Section Lengths are all 37" Total assembled length is just over 9'

Early SOUTH BEND 9' Bamboo Fly Rod Flamed **BEAUTY** Bass
This 9 footer from the 30's is one of the most beautiful South Bends that I have had my hands on. This is back when SB made high quality sticks. When I received it. All of the ferrules were loose and needed to be re-set. I stripped the old varnish off, reset the ferrules, re-wrapped them, and applied three coats of spar varnish to give it a glass-like appearance. Other than the ferrule wraps, all others are original. The large grip is excellent as well as the reel seat. The ferrules pop great. This rod has more of a bass action and would make a great rod for smallies, largemouth or bluegill. For Sale: Used Ed Beck restored bamboo fly rod. 8ft. 6" 6 weight 3-piece with extra tip section. This original bamboo blank has been completely restored by Ed Beck Custom Rods. New wraps and hardware. This rod is meant to be fished and not as a wall hanger. Cork handle is clean not pitted. Comes with nice vintage cotton rod sock. No rod tube included. ZYZ reel is used but in very good condition. Diameter 3" Height 3 5/8" Width 1 1/2" Weight with fly line and backing 7.5 oz. Reel comes with Orvis WF6F fly line with backing. This handmade reel is a perfect match with this bamboo rod. The reel has the additional weight to balance the rod for easy casting.

Vintage Montague "Rapidan" split bamboo fly rod. Two tips, two line weights.
This Montague"Rapidan" 9 foot. 3 piece split bamboo fly rod made by Montague Rod& Reel Co. in Montague City, Mass. is best described as possibly used very little. All sections are the same length and measure 36 5/8 inches long. Two different line weights are available using either of the two tip sections. One tip section measures: 180" 170" 143" 104" 084" I believe this tip is for a 4 weight line. One tip section measures: 190" 180" 158" 118" 095" I believe this tip is for a 5 weight line. This is very rare and must have been a special order. There are no cracks. Splits nor splinters and the varnish is very nice. The reel seat shows very little wear, as does the 7 inch cork grip. The original decal shows no wear, scratches or blemishes and is 100% in tact. All line guides, tip ... moretops and thread windings are in beautiful condition. The original green cloth sleeve shows no holes or tears. The hard tube of black leatherette showed some wear from long storage. So I touched it up with black leather dye. Unlike the picture, it is now all black. This fly rod comes. As shown in the pictures, with 2 tips, cloth sleeve and hard tube with screw top. I believe this vintage fly rod would be a nice addition to any collection. Or used for trout or steelhead fishing in the hands of an avid fly fisherman or woman who wants to enjoy the feel of a fine split bamboo fly rod made by craftsmen here in the USA with pride in their product made to last for generations.

Vintage Wright & McGill Granger Aristocrat Bamboo Fly Fishing Rod Broken Tips?
Here is a nice Granger Aristocrat Bamboo Fly Rod that is in excellent condition. This is a 3 piece that measures 8'3" in length and has an extra tip. One of the tips has a slight bow and the other is straight. The ferules. Guides and wraps are perfect. The original finish is in excellent condition. The original canvas bag and an aluminum tube are included. The tube is unmarked and has a solid machined and threaded cap. The fly rod is being sold as-is, as-pictured so please ask all questions before bidding. A watcher indicated that one of the tips or possibly both tips could be broken based on the lengths of each piece. The handle and middle section measure 34.5" each. However the ellery arms co existed from 1908- 1933. Also it looks as if the company only built rods from about 1918 to the late 20's so the Rod is definately vintage. The base piece measures 37" the middle piece measures just short of 37" the middle and base piece don't slip together easily and one tip measures just short of 35" and the other measures 33" and weighs in at just under 7 pounds.I am selling the rod as a restoration or collectors piece. 1950s-1960s OCC JAPAN BAMBOO FLY FISHING 3 PIECE ROD *UNUSED*NEEDS WORK w/case
This rod is finely made but the end piece is broken off and missing. The three pieces when put together now measure 85" long and weighs 192 grams. Some of the eyes are missing and you will want to replace all of the eyes if you are going to fish with this one. There is no evidence that this rod was ever used and the cork is like new and not dried out. The rubber butt end insert is dried out. Check my pictures for markings. Etc. Also included is a heavy duty aluminum tube that measures 41" and is missing the threaded end cap. Shipping is $15.00 in the U.S.A.

There is no manufacturer identification but it characteristic of a South Bend trade rod based on the composite cork handle, reel seat, bamboo cane and ferrules. All of the sections measure 34 1/2” I would estimate the fly line weight at a five. The aforementioned 5 ½” composite cork handle and sliding ring reel seat are great condition. It is approx 8' Long and has 3 different tips. It has been used as you can see from the pics. The grip is corks and has some dents in it and 1 eye on the poles needs to be rewrapped. VINTAGE SOUTH BEND BAMBOO FLY ROD-3/2-NEEDS GUIDES AND WINDINGS-SOCK-
This is a Vintage South Bend Bamboo Fly Rod. This is a 3 piece 2 tip for a length of 9 feet. All the sections are full length and fairly straight with one tip having some set to it. I am replacing the butt section ferrule as someone has put the wrong size on otherwise all sections fit together as they should. This will be a project rod as it needs some guides and new windings but the rest of the rod is in good shape. This is a light color cane. The cork grip has the comficient thumb rest.
