Scarce NFT 5 Piece Bamboo Fly Rod in Wooden Case
You are bidding on a vintage 5 piece bamboo fly rod in its original wooden case. The 34" case has a label that reads: NFT. Which stands for Nippon Fishing Tackle Co. Ltd. This 5 piece rod is in very nice condition as it still retains its multicolored NFT label. All 5 pieces are the same length and still have their guides intact. I was told that these outfits were survival kits for Air Force pilots and could be used as a fly rod or spinning rod. It also comes with its original blue cloth bag. This is a no reserve auction. Antique fly rod. Abercrombie and fitch yellowstone. I measured it roughly at 110 inches which is around nine feet. It has an extra end piece I guess if the end section were to break you have an extra rod piece. Unique 4 piece carrier. There needs to be a little re stringing/taping ion some ferrule areas. Cloth canvas bag has a rip and small holes. All in all in great shape for age. Each section measures about 40 inches from end to end(the handle section i measured from butt end to end of rod) The pieces fit perfectly in carrier. Highly polished impregnated dark-flamed shafts with Orvis red wraps, nickle silver extended winding check, tarnished blackened female butt ferrule. Hand-made stripping guide, polished aluminum screw down locking band reel seat with walnut insert, robust cigar cork grip(heavily soiled) Butt section is 43.25 inches in length while tip section as normally supplied ... morein the factory kit is 1/2 inch shorter at 42.75 inches. Ferrules are tight and"pop" when separated, both rod sections are straight. This is a terrific rod that is very fish-able and will give somebody quite a few years of pleasure. It deserves to be fished rather than sit on a shelf someplace. Wraps are starting to show their age and probably should either be covered with a light coat of epoxy or re-wrapped within the next year or so. Includes generic rod sleeve, no tube. Awesome vintage Bamboo Fly fishing Rod 9' long. Fresh out of a local Estate. the case is interesting the pole fits around the outside of the canvas covered wood. The wood has groves and is covered with the canvas and the pole fits in the groves. Has metal ends the ends do have some rust probably from sitting in a garage for lots of years. No cracks in the pole. one of the line guides is broken. This pole has wonderful red and green stripes around the pole. No markings that I can find.

There are no manufacturer identifications however the reel seat. Cork handle and ferrules are all characteristic of a Montague rod. The bottom and mid sections measure 37” and the tip section is 35” I would estimate the fly line weight at solid six. The seven inch cork handle and screw down lock reel seat are in great condition. There are three snake eye guides on the mid and tip sections and a stripper guide/hook keeper on the bottom section. There is an overwrap on the mid section. The rod fits together perfectly when assembled and is straight. I meticulously stripped the old varnish. Old Montague Bamboo Fishing Rod! - Heavy duty, not a fly rod
I know virtually nothing about this bamboo fishing rod or any other fishing rod. I am listing this with pictures and description as best as I can. Feel free to ask pertinent questions you may have. Description is as follows: The sticker is nearly all there and is a Montague of some kind. I can't make out the letters on the bottom of the logo but would have no idea what they may be. Definitely not a fly rod. It is a stronger and shorter rod than for flyfishing. Maybe salt water? Total length when together is 67 inches from butt handle to the rod tip. Ferrule is nearly in the middle. Carefully trying to separate the rod it is stuck in the ferrule itself and I am not going to force it out for potential of damage without proper tools or equipment. The lower section does slide out of the ferrule so that is the way I have it separated. The ... morebutt section is made of rubber and condition is shown.The wood handle which includes the reel holder is 19 1/2 inches long not including the rubber butt section. Then there is two large line guides before the ferrule. Two of the strangest line guides on the end section of the rod. The first one is actually two guides with one on each side as shown in pictures ant the end guide is straight off the end. These guides on the end section are also lined with red plastic or some other material I guess to minimize damage to the line. I see no sign of damage to the bamboo or the rod anywhere other than the condition of the rubber handle as shown. Probably a good cleaning would make it look very nice. I am not sure of whether or how it best would be cleaned or if indeed it should. I'll leave that up the purchaser as to whether it should be done or restored. I have no shipping tube for this but could make one. I have the listing a pick up so that the high bidder can make arrangements with me for shipping if not able to pick up. I also thought maybe whoever buys this may well be a collector and could send me a proper shipping tube and then pay the return shipping then calculated with the

All 4 pieces are straight and measure 34.75 inches in length. Ferrules are all tight and"pop" when seperated. Cork grip and reel seat insert are lightly soiled. Attractive orange and black Jasper guide wraps. The butt and mid sections and one of the tips have been highly polished but do not appear to have been varnished- typical of impregnated bamboo rods. The other tip section appears to have been re-wrapped and varnished- the wraps on this tip ... moresection are not nearly as well done as those on the rest of the rod. Unfortunately the tip section that more closely matches the fine work of the butt and mid sections is missing 2 guides. I would classify the action of this rod as medium to fast- it was most responsive for me loaded with a DT6F silk line but it was also a pleasure to fish with a WF5F, WF6F as well as a WF7S line. This is a very decent looking rod that is certainly fishable as is with the one complete tip. Includes a used generic rod sleeve in fair/good condition and a non-original aluminum rod tube in fair condition- missing an end cap. Images should provide all the information necessary to make a reasonably intelligent bid on this lot. However. If it doesn't live up to your expectations you are always welcome to return it for a full refund- NO QUESTIONS ASKED. My feedback speaks for itself. The rod has no splits or breaks and does appear to have been repaired. All pieces are straight with no warpage. Under each guide the bamboo is darker than the rest of the rod. No gouges or deep impressions in the cork handle. The tube is not an original Orvis tube-I don't think. The top threaded part is split so the top does not screw on it without much difficulty. This is for a Horrocks Ibottson bamboo fly rod in very good to excellent condition. It is a Old Hi's Hitest model. Registered No. 367. This is written on the rod but there is no label. The tube has the H-I label but is quite worn. This is a 9' three piece rod with two tips. All sections are full length and straight. The reel seat is excellent. The cork is very good. Needs a little cleaning. No chunks out. The ferrules and guides are excellent. Wraps are Exc. and are red with a black decorative wrap. Finish is very good. It has a hook keeper. VTG MONTAGUE 'CLIPPER' 9' 3/2 BAMBOO FLY ROD SOCK & VTG ALUMINUM TUBE - NICE!!!
Up for bids is a vintage Montague"Clipper" 9' 3/2 bamboo fly rod. I believe the rod has been restored as looking this good it can't be original! The dark brown color. Red/black silk wraps and finish are absolutely beautiful. It also has nice, decorative mid wraps. For protection it comes in a new sock and vintage aluminum rod tube of the era. The cork is clean but has a few imperfections(small flat spots& several hook sites with minor chunks out) and is shown in pic. I believe the hook keeper was added during restoration! Both tips have a slight set. All sections are equal and appropriate length at 36 1/2" All ferrules go together and come apart nicely. I can find no other flaws in the rod. It weighs 6.1 ounces. The reel seat with rails is in good shape and holds a reel well. Folsom (made by Heddon) Vintage 8 1/2' Bamboo Fly Rod, sock and tube included
This auction is for a Folsom 8 1/2' Bamboo Fly Rod. The model number stamped on the butt section is"5115" I believe that Heddon made this trade rod for Folsom. The reel seat is wood(appears to be cedar as used on other Heddon Bamboo Rods such as model 35's) The rod has been rebuilt and refinished. The guides are chrome and well wrapped in red threading. I do not know if the ferrules are originals or replacements. The tip is approximately 1/2" shorter than the other two sections. The finish on the bamboo is even and clear. All sections are straight. Classic Montague 9' Bamboo Fly Fishing Rod 3/1 With Bag
The decal on this rod is mostly gone. So the model name is unavailable. The bamboo is sound and essentailly straight, the varnish good. There is an agate stripper guide on the butt section. This section is about 1 1/2" short and has an amateur wrap at the base of the ferrule. The male ferrules on the mid and tip sections have replacement yellow wraps, as does one of the snake guides on the mid section. The ferrules are properly tight. This single tip rod comes with a non-original bag, no tube.

**Scarce #7275 Barney & Berry Bamboo Fly Rod - 2/2 - Eustis Edwards Style
Unique and special Barney& Berry bamboo fly rod. 7275, a 2-piece rod with two tips, original bag and perhaps original rod tube. The rod was made circa 1920. This is a delicate. Light rod, with gold and black silk wraps. The reel seat is an unusually attractive hardwood seat with sliding band. There is a hookkeeper under the second wrap on the cane, but the ring is gone. The length of the butt section is 43 inches long, tip No.1 is 41 inches long, tip No. 2 is 39.75 inches long. In its original form, the rod was a full 7 feet long rod. The two tip-tops are not original to the rod, and I assume the repairs were made there. This is a very lightweight rod. Weighing only 3.2 ounces! I showed this rod to one of my most expert friends who makes bamboo rods and he said. The rod is in the E. W. Edwards style with no certainty Eustis Edwards made ... moreit himself. This is an old 9 foot split bamboo fly rod with a n old reel. The rod has a cork handle and the paint is worn but the cork is still intact and in good condition with no chunks missing or rot. All of the guides are present. The reel is small. Basic and the only marks are that it is made in the USA and 2 T’s in a square. The drag works and the reel reels perfectly. The metal connectors have an aged patina but hold tight. I got this to use after my fly rod was stolen out of my truck, my son got me a new one for Christmas so I won’t need this one. Heddon Model 36 Salmon Special Bamboo Fly Rod
This is a Heddon Model 36 Salmon Special bamboo fly rod. This particular rod is somewhat of an enigma. As it is not exactly described in Sinclair's Heddon book. The rod is 10 1/2' long, 3 piece, 2 tip, with a 6" permanently attached fighting butt. Sinclair's book shows the rod with a 6" detachable fighting butt. Both the rod bag and tube lengths clearly indicate that this length/configuration is factory original. Special order? Non-cataloged variation? I simply don't know. If one of you rod collectors out there knows more, please let me know and I will add it to the listing.Writing on the butt shaft is Heddon in a spiral, plus#36- 10 1/2' 3F- GBG or B. This places it in the Neo-Classic Era of 1939 through 1948. Sinclair's book shows the 10' Salmon Special produced in 1933 through 1943. This would date ... morethe rod probably 1939 through 1943. The rod is in very good condition. All sections are full length and straight. It seems to be barely fished. Most of the cellophane is still on both grips, the metal reel seat looks as if a reel was never mounted, and the tip tops still have all their black lacquer. There are several flaws, however. The rod has the typical soft varnish problems, particularly on the butt. The bottom snake on the mid has been re-wrapped in a lighter color silk. The agate stripper on the butt is missing one trim wrap. Finally, the male ferrule on the mid appears to have a split. The rod comes in the original bag and tube. The tube has a partial label and a Heddon stamped cap. Insured shipping is $20.00.

Joe Perrigo. Genesse Valley Rods, New York, made this rod for me a few years ago. It is Joe's version of the Payne 100. It a of hex construction and the bamboo is a rich caramel color. The silk wraps are translucent as can be seen in the photos. The reel seat is of dark walnut and the fittings are of blued nickle silver. The blued nickle silver cork check is hex in shape. The blued stripper guide is agate. The spar varnish finish seems flawless. Workmanship on this rod is as good as I've ever seen. It comes with it's original black bag and black aluminum rod tube. VINTAGE BAMBOO FLY ROD 9-3-3 TIPS "W.L. BUCK SPECIAL"
For sale is one 9' 3 piece. 3 tip fly rod marked"W.L. Buck Special" weighs 5.9 oz. Sections are 361/2" one tip is short, mid section about 1/8" long. The varnish is chipped and crazed, the grip has several dents in the cork and the knurling on the reel seat nut is damaged. The ferrule fit on the mid to butt is loose, the tips are snug but one clicks like the ferrule is loose. One tip is short, bent and has a crushed guide, one tip has a missing guide. Mid section female ferrule has some slight plier? marks at the end. Comes in three section green bag with holes and rust stains and poor condition cardboard tube. Sold as is. 9' F.E. Thomas Dry Fly Special split bamboo fly rod. 5 1/8 oz. all original, full length, original bag and hang tag. Overall very good condition. Quality aluminum tube, but I don't know if the tube is original. Ferrules are in excellent condition, no missing guides, but varnish is showing some signs of age. Honest wear to the varnish on the reel seat. Nickel-silver sliding band reel seat. I've had this rod in my closest for about 12 years and haven't used it, so have decided to sell. This rod has very light tips, so I'm guessing that it work well with a 5 weight DT line. Returns accepted only if I have grossly misdescribed the rod. It comes with the original canvas case[in bad shape with mouse chews and rips, but this is what saved the rod from any age damage]

Wright McGill 3 Piece 2 Tips Bamboo fly rod 9 1/2 Feet Cigar Handle Pat. 1938
Wright and McGill 9 1/2 foot split bamboo. This rod has a total of four pieces but is a three piece split bamboo flyrod. The rod seat has Patent Date April 12 1938. Patent number 2 114 107 made in Denver Colorado. One tip is shorter than the other with new Tip guide and probably was broken at some point. All of the rod guides and original ferrules are complete on this flyrod. This rod has many loose guides and I think it could use some re wrapping or repair on rod guides and ferules. One rod guide has some string helping to hold it in but like I said above this rod needs attention. The ferules and rod seat have been cleaned and most of the brass look patina was removed. I was told that this was a Granger blank but I cannot confirm that I think this Rod is probably a 5 or 6 weight. Thi s auction is for a very rare F.E. Thomas built 8 ft two piece Browntone bamboo fly rod. It is in very good to excellent original condition- see pictures. Rod comes complete with original sock(blue) Labeled tube, brass cap and hang tag- see pictures. As per tag, rod measures 4 1/8 oz's. All sections are full length and complete. There is an invisible repair wrap at the base of one tip. Original tube label is approximately 80% complete. Definite dry fly action- extremely fine tips with swelled butt(tips measure.060" almost an inch below tip top and butt measures.470"+ just above grip) Original English twist guides and perfection stripper guide are all in excellent condition. Original varnish is still very good- could use a polishing. A very fast action split cane fly rod capable of very tight loops. Rod handles a DT 5 line ... moreexceptionally well. Darkly blued ferrules over browntone cane fit well and separate with a pop. All wraps look to be in excellent original condition. There is a Heddon inscription and a#10– 8 ½’ 2F HDH or E inscription. The bottom and mid sections measure 35” one tip is 34” and the second tip section is 31. I would estimate it would match with a modern day four-five weight fly line based on the taper and casting action of the rod. The 6 ½” cork handle and custom screw down lock wooden spacer reel seat are in great condition. There are two snake eye guides on the mid section. There are four snake eye guides on one tip section and three on the second. There is an agate stripper guide/hook keeper on the bottom section.
