Orvis Impregnated Battenkill 8 Ft, 4 3/4 OZ Bamboo Fly Fishing Rod, Tube, Sock
Vintage Orvis 8 foot bamboo fly rod. Two piece, two tips. Rod is marked"Orvis Impregnated Battenkill. It is also marked below that with the name of the original owner. Tube is marked"8 ft, 2 Pc. 4 3/4 ounce, 13. However, there is no line size or serial number either on the rod or on the tube. These may have been written in pencil on the tube label and worn off. The 4 3/4 ounce weight would seem to me to indicate a larger line size. The number 13 might also tell you something. You can compare to other similar rods on eBay, or if you are a trout junkie you probably already know the line size. Rod probably dates from 1950s or 1960s or so. I recently acquired this rod from a local private home from the family of the deceased man who owned it. Please inspect my photos to determine condition for yourself. Check out my! Orvis Impregnated Deluxe 6 1/2 FT HDG Fly Fishing Rod, Tube, Sock. Bamboo. 2 Tip
Vintage Orvis Impregnated deluxe 6 1/2 foot bamboo fly rod. With original metal tube and plaid rod sock. Rod has two tips. Each of the three pieces is marked with the serial number 3000, a nice touch. Butt section is marked"Orvis Impregnated Deluxe. Label on tube is marked"6 1/2' 2 pc, 11. I don't know what the 11 stands for. It is also marked"Style Deluxe, 2 Pc, Weight 3 Oz, with serial number 3000. When you sight down one of the tips it appears to bend very slightly to the right- not much at all. The other tip appears to be straight. Rod seems to me to have been well cared for and quite clean. Inspect my photos and judge condition yourself. The HDG designation indicates that rod was designed for a weight forward number 6 line. However, is you search completed items on eBay you will find another example of this rod ... morewhere the seller says a number 4 or 5 line would be more appropriate. I have no opinion. W&M Granger Victory 8040 Bamboo Fly Rod, 8' 3/3 Restored Orvis Co.
I am assisting a retired friend in selling a couple of his cane rods. I have inspected the rods and cast them. The following is his description of this particular rod. Wright& McGill Granger 8040“Victory” bamboo fly rod. 8 foot. 3 piece, 3 tips, 4 oz. 5 weight This particular taper is thought by many to be the best casting medium action rod ever produced by this venerable manufacturer. This rod was made in 1946. The first year after Granger Rod Company was purchased by Wright@ McGill. I acquired this rod in 2001 and had it completely restored by the Orvis rod shop located in Manchester. VT($240.00, will include work receipt with purchase) In addition to the two full length tips the rod came with an additional tip that is one inch short. I had the Orvis people restore this one also. This could be your“fishing tip” if you don’t want to ... morerisk damage to the full length ones. It also has the maker’s distinctive up-locking. Internal screw patented reel seat. This is a great rod in like new condition. Orvis did not attempt to reapply the script to the rod. However. I am sure that a Granger expert such as Mike Clark or Gary Lacey could assist with this for a minimum charge.

Rare very early 9 ft. Southbend 3/2 split bamboo fly rod
Here for your consideration is this very early and remarkably historic 9' 3/2 that was most likely built at Winchester while E. Billy Edwards was overseeing the rod operation there in 1920 or so. Cane tip case w/ brass cap& original bag all metal knurled reel seat, red intermediate& regular guides wraps throughout, half-wells grip, VG+ Exc. original varnish, truly amazing cond. bright and sparkling probably unused. So early even its stripping guide is a snake guide. Winchester supplied South Bend with rods into 1926. This rod was listed by Martin J. Keane in his catalog#83-2001. At that time he wasn't aware of the connection with Winchester. In fact inside the top of the bag are the numbers 5361 numbers were used by Winchester re branded Barney& Berry rods per Garner in his book also 7000 series rods were Armax and Barney& ... moreBerry rods(again per Gardner) so it would be reasonable to see how South Bend was given a 5000 series of rods to differentiate how the rods were finished. Ie What bamboo was acceptable to one company as a trade rod may not be so for another.

vintage fishing fly rod PEQUEA cork handle 8' two piece bamboo?
I have no idea of the history behind this or the value if any so I am going to take offers for it. With that being said please understand that my asking price is just a number and I am looking for the best offer of what it is worth to you. I am very realistic and fair. When I got this it went on my pole rack and has been there for 20+ years. I am unable to identify the material that it is made from but the handle is cork and the metal is non magnetic brass or copper probably. There is a lot of string work on it around the eyes and the golden overlays. There is a label on the pole and"PEQUEA" is the only legible word I can see. RARE Shakespeare 7' 4 weight Noris bamboo fly rod - near mint
Here is a beautiful little bamboo Shakespeare Noris 7' 4-weight. 2/1, bamboo rod in nearly perfect condition, in original bag and labeled tube. As you can see, it's a screw uplocking reel seat, nickel silver ferrules and the decals on the butt clearly state the name, model, length and line weight. Old label on the tube lists this as a Shakespeare#1288 rod. Has an agate stripper as well. Perfectly straight. Only unusual thing is what looks like a replaced section of cork at the top of the grip, likely done at the factory. You can see it in the photos. A newer sticker on the tube says this fly rod was made for the European market(as were many of the Shakespeare Noris or Young-made Noris reels) Payment with PayPal within 3 day of the end of the auction. This is a 8 ft gold tiger fly fishing rod. What is super cool about it is that the extra tip actually hooks to the but price to make it a little over 5 ft. I'm not sure if is to be a casting rod or for fly fishing a little stream where a long rod would be a pain in the butt. All of the eyes are intact and it comes with a box. Great Thomas Special Mahogany 9-footer for a 5 or 6 wt- fishable as is. Full intermediates. Cedar reelseat filler with miniscule dings, rod has minor varnish chips. Second tip is down 4" mid is missing one snake. Structurally sound- any flaws are cosmetic. Marked with a 4 on the butt cap. Original bag is holed and frayed. No tube. I am still thinning out my rod collection and am now offering this vintage ORVIS Flea. 6 ½’ 4 wt, 2 section, 2 tip, 2 oz. Serial No. 86445, full-flex bamboo fly rod in mint, unused condition. This rod would also cast a WF3F line quite nicely. Please view the attached images and consider them as part of the description. This Flea was built in 1984 by ORVIS rod builder Ron White at the ORVIS rod shop in Manchester. VT. All sections are straight and full length. Also included is the original paperwork and registration card. Original aluminum rod tube with a fully intact and clean foil label and original cloth rod sock. All are in excellent condition. I had a custom handmade cloth rod tube cover made that is also included. You are bidding on a excellent condition split bamboo fly rod which is marked"Hand Built- by Smith" The ferules and line guides are all in excellent shape as well as the reel seat and the wraps on the line guides. The cork grip shows some wear due to the age of the rod which I would guess at being made in the 1040s or 1950s. I assembled the rod and it has excellent flex and no signs of any micro cracks in the bamboo. The ends separate with a nice pop sound. The cloth bag it was found with is likely original and it has some holes in the end of it. This rod was found at an estate sale. Ask any questions. Shipping will be via USPS Priority mailing tube. Resources say"the Trout Logo decal was used from c. 1923 to c. 1929. It is rarely seen and is easily the most beautiful of the decals. Since"Best by Test" was not spotted in catalogs until 1929, it appears this is a 1929 rod. The rods made by Horrocks-Ibbotson up to 1935 filled every need for the consumer. Heddon vintage 3 piece fly fishing split bamboo rod. This Rod comes with all three pieces. Soft red bag and metal tube to keep the rod in. This rod is not in the best shape and looks like it does have some damage. Looks like to me( and i know nothing about fishing at all) the plastic pieces on the end by the handle need to be replaced. There is also red material stuck to the rod from the red soft bag it is stored in.The red storage bag also has holes in it and one at the bottom where the rod is coming through it. HEDDON#14 THOROBRED- 8 1/2 FOOT SPLIT BAMBOO FLY ROD Vintage(circa 1952) Lightly Used, Nice Looking! This vintage Heddon rod is marked as a Thorobred model#14 and is 8 1/2 ft long. Other markings include"2f" And"H or H or E" Research indicates the rod to be circa 1952, about the time I remember my Dad purchasing it. In addition the Heddon name is written on a single face of the rod and the Patent Number on the reel seat is#1807078(should be#1870078- a whole story in itself) My Dad enjoyed this rod, though not as often as he would have liked, until his death in 1988 and it has been carefully stored since. The rod is in quite nice condition. It has never been broken and all 4 sections(includes a spare tip) are an equal length of 34 1/2 inches. The finish is smooth with no cracks and shows only very minimal wear. The Cork ... morehandle shows only slight wear with no gouges and no missing chunks. The plastic reel seat is not cracked, threads are intact and there is no corrosion on any of the metal parts. All the eyelets are there but a few of the windings had loose ends and 3 needed rewinding. I had this work done and all the windings re-varnished- everything looks very good now. A fabric storage bag, though not original nor pictured, is included. The rod connections are all clean and straight. With no corrosion and seem to be correctly sized. I have only partially inserted them as a test and they felt just fine. However, I have not fully inserted them and leave that as a test for the new owner.
