This is a Montague"Clipper" Bamboo Fly Rod. This is a 3 piece rod and has a length of 8.5 feet. The sections are all full length. There are some hairline cracks in some of the ferrules but all are tight. The label is about 95% present. The sections are pretty straight with the tip having a slight fishing set. 1905-1925 MONTAGUE CITY ROD CO. 9', 3/2 Split Bamboo & (Mortised) Fly Rod With
Up for auction an Especially Nice 1905-1925 MONTAGUE CITY ROD CO. 9 FT. 3/2 SPLIT BAMBOO FLY ROD WITH INLAID CEDAR"MORTISING" ORIGINAL WOOD FORM HOLDER. These were produced by Montague City Rod Co. as"trade" rods and would have been available throughout the first quarter of the last century. They would have been supplied to any number of retailers, wholesalers or jobbers across the country. This early example has been beautifully restored to original. Built with quality Calcutta cane and with a drastically swelled butt inlaid(mortised) with strips of cedar, making for a very handsome rod. Also comes equipped with new stainless snake guides, chromed tip tops, nickel silver"waisted" Montague ferrules, n/s winding check, standard Montague/Chubb sliding band reel seat, sheet-cork grip and closely wound in black and ... morered silk, with full intermediates. There are no less than 127 individual wraps. Rod is in solid Fine to Very Fine condition, showing just moderate wear to most of the hardware. Bamboo is perfect, with no splits, cracks or delamination. All four sections are the correct equal length, with some light to moderate sets. The cedar"mortising" remains in superb condition. Varnish and wraps are pristine, as one would expect. All guides and tip tops are new original replacements. Ferrules"pop" nicely when separated. The winding check, reel seat and cork grip show normal wear and remain in good condition. Put up in the original cloth-covered wood form holder, which is also in Fine condition, solid and complete. This early example from Montague is ready to enhance one's collection or be put right to work. To be sold with a very low starting bid and NO RESERVE. Vintage Cross Single Built Bamboo Fly Rod 3 piece 102 inches
Here old Bamboo Fly Rod with 3 pieces. Approx 102 inches, if you add all the individual pieces lengths. the only flaws I see if maybe one of the ferrels may have come loose at one time. looks like it was repaired without the black wrap. And the cork handle has missing chip by the handle. the reel seat is marked Cross Single built. That is the only markings on the whole rod. Thanks for looking

Orvis Superfine 7' Impregnated Bamboo Fly Rod - Rare
This is not a display case queen. It has been used and much enjoyed! It has seen many fishing trips, most memorable one to Goose Bay Labrador where the brook trout in photo was caught 26" 6 1/2 lbs 1977. This rod was completed by Orvis in May of 1970. It is in very good condition considering the age and use of this fine rod, One of the tips has been professionally repaired as you can see in the photo's. This Orvis rod has plenty of life left in it,it just needs someone to fish it. The tube has a few dents from the airlines but it is fully functional for rod storage. Happy bidding! and good luck.

Grampus bamboo convertible fly rod or spinning rod with wood case
Grampus rod by Miraku& Co. Inc. Tokyo, Japan 95" rod is set up for fly fishing, you can turn the handle around and use it for spin casting. Comes with one medium weight tip and two lightweight tips. The rod is in very good condition. Case is slightly worn from handling. And the slides that cover the tackle area have repairable splits. See photos and condition statement for specifics. I think this would make an excellent rod for any fly fisherman. It hasn't been used much at all. But it's not an immaculate showroom wall-hanger. Wooden case is 38" x 3" x 4" No reserve.

Up for bid is this real nice VINTAGE SPLIT BAMBOO 5 PIECE FLY FISHING ROD w/3 TIPS. I have never seen one with 3 tips. But this is the way it came and it looks like it all matches. I don't see any damage to any of the pieces. All the eyes look good, but I am not an expert on this type of item so please look it over good. There is no makers name or markings that I can see. The BUTT section measures 32 3/4 inches. The MID SECTION is 32 5/8 inches, FIRST TIP 32 1/4, 2ND TIP 32 1/2, 3RD TIP 32 1/4. Any questions please ask before bidding.

This is an old Japanese bamboo fishing set with all the hooks and line and fly accessories included. Everything is in great shape except for one of the pole sections needs its metal coupler reattached(as seen in the third picture) One pole setup is an 8 ft fly rod and the other is a 5(1/3) ft casting rod.

Heddon Vintage #2250 Bamboo Fly Rod
For starters I am not a fly fisherman. My great grandfather collected a lot of fishing stuff and recently we found some vintage fishing equipment after he passed. The is a Heddon rod and has to be very old. It appears to be in excellent shape. I photographed it stage by stage as I took it out of the metal canister. It has two different tips and extends to just under 10 feet. It appears to be signed or autographed"Heddon" and"2150" right above the grip. There are no ripped or torn pages and the binding is very tight. The book is bound in green bookcloth linen and has some edgewear. It is gold foilstamped with Garrison's name on the lower front. Dust Jacket has a torn. Missing area on the spine which I have photoed. It is covered in a clear protective mylar so that the dj will not incur further damage. Up for sale is a Japanese Bamboo Fly Fishing Rod. This rod comes in a very attractive wood case and has 1 butt section. 1 mid section and 3 tips sections of various weights. The reel seat, grip, snake guides and wraps are in excellent condition. This is the finest example of a fly rod of this type that I have ever seen. The wraps are a very attractive variegated green and the ferrules have red tipping. Excellent addition to a collection or to fish with. One thing that makes this rod special is the 3 different weight tip sections. Each section is of differing diameter and will be able to cast a different weight fly line. This rod could very easily handle fly line ranging from 3wt to 8wt. This feature makes this rod a very unique fly rod.

Vintage "Champion" Bamboo Fly Rod- Vietnam Era - Made in Japan - Extra Tip
You are bidding on a handsome vintage bamboo fly rod. My local expert believes the rod is from the early to late 60s. He's seen lots of rods like this come to the US in the duffle of servicemen coming home from Vietnam or Korea at about that time period. Air Force personnel in particular were stationed in Japan and would purchase these wonderful fly rods and bring them home. Three sections just under 36" My guess is that this rod is a bit under 108 inches, perhaps 105 or so. I am not willing to assemble the rod given the condition of the ferrules. Earlier rods would have ferrules that had the same flats as the rod. This example needs just a little restoration to get back into the hunt for your favorite fish. All the hardware is there. But some of the ferrules are loose and the finish needs some touch up. It would be hard to find ... morea nicer fixer-upper vintage bamboo rod for a project. Check out the high-resolution photos.

It makes either an 8' fly rod(probably around a 4 weight) or a 65" closed face spinning rod. The rod is in mint condition and is finished in black lacquer. The reel seat has been repaired where the upper, fixed reel seat cracked. Very Rare 8'6" Brewer Edwards Bamboo Fly Rod
An incredibly rare piece of history from one of its finest makers. Here is an all original 8'6" 5wt made by Eustis"EW" Edwards very likely during the Brewer era. I purchased the rod a little over a year ago and it is perfectly fishable. All sections are straight as an arrow and full length. Ferrule fit is nice and tight. High quality machined ferrules. Nickel silver reel seat. Wraps are a beautiful gold color. The stripping guide wrap is very dry and may need to be replaced or some varnish added to the wrap in the future. Stripping guide is classic Edwards style tiny agate and the tips are a tiny steel tip and one agate tip similar to most early Edwards. The rod tube original and very unique with a wood custome cap on one end and wood base on the other. The bag is not original and it is a modern day replacement. The grip ... moreis in fantastic shape. And very delicately sized, like most Eustis rods. Sometime long ago it was either made with a thumb indent or Edwards made it this way. The reel seat is classic Edwards as well. For a longer rod, it casts a very delicate 5wt line that would be perfect for larger waters that demand delicate presentations to sipping trout. I own numerous EW rods and thi one is rare. Most Brewers that show up, and there are not many, are 9' or longer. I have only seen one other less than 9'

For sale is a vintage Montague Flash bamboo 9' 3/1 fly rod. The bamboo is in great condition with all sections strait and the tip has no set. All chrome ferrules are in good condition as is the tip. The varnish is in great condition with the Montague label 90% intact and readable with second"genuine tonkin" label also present. The cork handle is in good condition as is the reel seat. second section has two missing wire guides. All other guides with red wrappings and gold tip are in good shape. Agate guide is present and in great shape. Included is a sleeve(not sure if it is original) and the original tube without cap. The tube is in fair condition with some tape added for reinforcement. The rod is in good shape for it's age and is an older version(circa 30's?of the"Flash" model. All pieces are 36.5 inches in ... moregood condition and a great example of a quality Montague fly rod.

The bamboo rod is now in great shape. I would say this rod casts best as a 5/6 wt. Includes a brand new blue Alpine hard travel case and tan rod sock. The bamboo looks new. No water stains or splinters. Very clean and straight. I replaced the reel seat with a new uplocking chrome plated Aluminum reel seat with exotic rosewood insert. I used brand new stainless steel chrome plated snake guides with a line keeper. The old varnish has been removed and I re-wrapped the rod with brown and black thread. Up for bid is a Vintage 7 1/2' South Bend Model No 290 Bamboo Fly Rod Rod that is in very nice condition for its age. The Label is about 99% there. It says No. 290 7 1/2' Line Recommended E or HDH on the rod. The wrappings are all nice and tight. The Cloth Sock holder is in nice condition with no tears as the pictures show. It comes with a Metal Tube as the picture show and it does have some rubs and scratches on form storage. I will try and answer any questions you may have. Assembled rod weight is 4.5 oz Butt section and 1 tip are full length. Mid section missing 2" at butt end, 2nd tip missing 6" at tip end. Details follow: Butt section and 1 tip measure 34 ½” Mid section measures 32 ½” and 2nd tip(has ferrule but no guides or tiptop) measures 28” The lightweight reel seat is cork with aluminum sliding band. Wraps are fine. Cork is fine, and ferrule fit is fine. The finish is good. Eustis Edwards Built Bamboo Fly Rod 9 1/2' w/Two Tips!!
This a bamboo fly rod built by Eustis Edwards around 1927. The rod has been refinished at least once and could be totally refinished to be as original. An expert on Edwards rods told me the finish could be better. Both tip tops are probably from the 1950's and the stainless steel stripping guide probably is not original and should be an agate guide. The mid and both tips are full length at" but the butt section is about 1 1/4" short. That is all the negatives. On the positive side, usually a rod of this age very seldom has two full length tips, the reel seal and all hardware except one English guide are original. This rod would make a wonderful salmon rod that would cast a seven or eight weight line with great control! VINTAGE H&I GENUNIE TONKIN 8 ½? BEAVERKILL SPLIT BAMBOO FLY FISHING ROD This auction is for a vintage four piece 8 ½’ Horrocks Ibbotson“Beaverkill” Genuine Tonkin split bamboo fly rod with original stamped H&I storage sleeve. This rod was manufactured by H&I in Utica. NY which was a cast away from the world famous Beaverkill River in which this rod was named; pretty cool. There is an H&I decal and Beaverkill inscription. Three sections measure 35” and the second tip section is 29 ½” I would estimate it would balance with a five weight fly line. The 5 3/4” cork handle and screw down lock reel seat are in very good functional condition. There are two snake eye guides on the mid section. Three on one tip and two on the second tip. There is a stripper guide on the bottom section. The rod fits together perfectly ... morewhen assembled and has the distinct pop sound when removed. There is a very slight natural set in the tip sections which will not affect the casting of the rod. There are some small tears at the bottom of the storage sleeve. I meticulously stripped the old varnish. Refinished with four coats of spar varnish and completed it with high quality wood rubbing compounds. The ferrules have been buffed and polished. The brownstone colored bamboo cane and varnish finish are beautiful. This classic refinished rod would be a great choice on creeks, stream and rivers. It will also make an awesome display. Hardy Palakona Bamboo Fly Rod 8'6" 3 piece 2 tip 5 weight
This is a nice Hardy 8'6" 3/2 5wt.This rod has been restored at some time. All sections are straight and the ferrule fit is good. The rod is in the original marked Hardy bag which has two holes in the bottom. The bottom section is 34 7/8" Mid section 34 5/8" both tips sections 34 1/8" This is a beautiful rod and very fishable.
