Wright and McGill Granger Victroy Bamboo Fly Rod, Stream and Lake
This is an interesting bamboo rod from Wright and McGill Granger for good and bad reasons.First the good the good.The three sections are full length and appear unused. The factory plastic wrap is still on the grip. The wraps and agate stripper seem to be original. The tube with label and sock is there and original. There is a tag which states.2400136 Dec 12. 1938" The bad.one tip is missing and the cap to the tube is gone. This Strean and Lake model is 9' and weighs in at 5 3/4 oz. It is nice!

This vintage Argus Arai Black Bamboo Rod has never been used. It is in beautiful condition in it's original Argus Canvas Case. The case is also in excellent clean condition. The rod has been stored in a hard tube which I will include in shipping. The only flaws I see is some slight damage to the paper logo and some slight corrosion on the metal tips. The black paint is very shiny but does not show up well in my photos. The cork handle is still wrapped in plastic and the chrome is in excellent condition. The rod is an 8' with three tips. Vintage 3 Pc Hand Made Tonkin Bamboo Casting Fishing Rod Fly Fish Interest
This auction is for a vintage bamboo spinning or bait casting rod. The rod is in nice condition. When together this is a two piece rod with three guides. There is an extra top half section which accounts for the rod's third section. There are no missing guides. The guide on the bottom does look to have been repaired at some point in time. One of the top halves has a very small hairline crack which might be seen in the very last photo. The cork handle is free from splits and missing chunks. This is a Vintage Heddon"Thorobred" 14 Bamboo Fly Rod. This rod is in great condition. This is a 3/2 section rod for a length of 9 1/2 feet. The ferrules are blued and there is nothing missing or broken on the rod. The varnish is a very low lustre finish. All of the sections are full length. The rod comes with a Heddon Metal tube and the original sock. The sections are very straight. It is a size 2 1/2 ferrule. The individual sections measure 38 1/2 inches. The tube is 39 1/2 inches.

Vintage ORVIS Impregnated Battenkill Split Cane Bamboo Fly Rod GBF8 Two Tip MINT
This is a vintage Orvis Impregnated Battenkill Split Cane Bamboo Fly Rod. It is in absolute near mint condition. I don't believe it has ever been fished with. It is a 2 piece with 2 section Tips. And stands at 8 feet in length, 4 3/8 oz, GBF(8) and serial# 62739. The serial# is not listed in the Orvis database, but according to the serial numbers just before and just after this serial number, it was built in 1971. The#s are clearly written on both tip sections and bottom section of the fly rod where the sections connect. This rod is very, very clean with perfect bamboo and NO splits, cracks, or scratches whatsoever, except for a little bit of excess glue on one side in between the first and second guide. The reel seat is perfect, and the cork grip is perfect and very clean. There is a hook keeper which is also perfect. All loop guides, ... morewrapping, and tips are perfect and mint condition. The first guide is very slightly leaning back, but this apparently was the way it was wrapped onto the rod because there is no appearance of any bending due to negligence. VINTAGE HORROCKS IBBOTSON SARANAC USA 8 12/ 4 WT SPLIT BAMBOO FLY FISHING ROD This auction is for a vintage four piece Horrocks Ibbotson Saranac. Utica NY USA 8 ½’ split bamboo fly rod with original marked storage sleeve. It has an H&I and Saranac decal. Three sections measure 35” and one tip is 26 ½” I would estimate it would balance with a four weight fly line. The Saranac model was one of H&I’s high end rods. Check out the flared butt on the bottom section. The six inch cork handle and screw down lock reel seat are in very good functional condition. There are three snake eye guides on the mid and one tip section. Two on the short tip and a red agate stripper guide on the bottom section. The rod fits together perfectly when assembled and has the distinct pop sound when removed. There is a slight natural set in the tip ... moresections which will not affect the casting or use of the rod. I meticulously stripped the old varnish. Refinished with four coats of spar varnish and completed it with high quality wood rubbing compounds. The ferrules have been buffed and polished. The first two sections each measure 34-3/4" long. These first two sections are real nice condition Ferules. Guides and wrap are all tight with no flaws to the first two sections. Nice pop to the ferules when pulling the pieces apart. Cork handle and reel seat are both in very good condition. Now the bad news, the two tips are both broken at the ends. Tight wraps, excellent cork(no chips) and very good reel seat. Ferrules fit snug and pop apart. Very nice verigated wraps. I see no chips in the varnish but there is some curdling from age(see photos) Comes with sock and tube. Rod butt is inked Granger Victory. Wright& McGill Bamboo Fly Rod(Granger) Model FA 9. Water Seal In 1952-53. Wright McGill introduced the 81/2 and 9 Water Seal series of fly rods. Water Seal rods were produced in two grades: the F.A. and the less expensive, F.B. This rod is an F.A. and features include: Ferrules and famous Granger reel seat made of Monel rather than the less expensive nickel silver. Wraps are burgundy tipped with gold. Original maroon cloth and labeled maroon anodized aluminum tube are still with the original rod and included. The only thing keeping rod from being classified as near new is a slight soiling to the grip. The grip has not been cleaned to preserve the vintage and original condition. Near mint. Handsome Wright& McGill Bamboo Fly Rod 8 1/2' Granger) Made in USA Model FA 8 1/2. Water Seal In 1952-1953. Wright McGill introduced the 8 1/2 and 9 Water Seal series of fly rods. Water Seal rods were produced in two grades: FA and the less expensive, FB. This rod is an FA model. This wonderful rod features ferrules and the famous Granger reel seat made of Monel rather than the less expensive nickel silver material. Wraps are attractive burgundy-tipped with gold. Here is a vintage bamboo fly fishing rod. Estate fresh from a New England home. It measures just over 81 1/2" two pieces total 82" when apart) when fitted together. The eyelets are all present and intact, cork handle soiled with a few small losses/scuffs. Marked WRIGHT& McGILL No. 3A, 7 1/2 FT. not sure if there was another piece, because it measures just under 7' but it looks complete) There are only a few small loose threads on the wrappings, otherwise it is in very good condition and functional. The handle can be reversed to be used as either a fly rod or a spinning/casting rod. There is a handle. A short first section that the handle attaches to, a spinning/casting tip, a mid section for the fly rod and two fly rod tips. When assembled as a fly rod the length is 8' as a casting rod; 5' 5" Four bamboo sections are in Excellent Condition. The handle and first bamboo section are Very Good. There is wear to the chrome on the handle(light scuffs, scratches and some surface rust) and there is a small chip to the label(see 3rd photo) Besides the chip to the label, the lacquer finish retains near full gloss throughout all sections, there is minimal wear to the chrome ... morepieces and the cork handle remains in nice shape. I did not like the sliding ring reel seat and had it removed and replaced with a Stuble uplocking. The rod is used. But, has plently of life in it. One tip does have a slight set in it. honestly, I was fishing at my local trout club. and every so often a Steelhead will migrate into the facility. Classic Unmarked 9' Bamboo Fly Rod For Restoration 3/2 With Velvet Rod Frame
This vintage rod is in need of complete restoration-varnish stripped. Guides remounted and rewrapped, intermediates rewrapped. The cane is sound, all sections the proper length, ferrules in very good condition with no cracks, sets to both tip sections. The sheet cork grip is in very good condition, has been cleaned. The swelled butt above the grip has alternating cedar strips. This rod has all of its snake guides on the tip sections, is missing one on the mid section and needs a stripper guide on the butt section. The rod comes on a velvet lined wood rod form, no bag or tube. A nice rod on which to practice your skills at a low staring bid.

Vintage Montague 3/2 9' Bamboo Project Fly Rod w/Tube & Sock "Cook's Rio Grande"

As you can see from the photos this rod is marked"Cook's Rio Grande" which I have had no luck in referencing however the rod. Judging by the reel seat, ferrules and winding check appears to be Montague built. The bamboo in all pieces has no cracks, splits or delamination, the ferrules are all tight to the rod and seat properly to each other.The reel seat has some finish loss but no dents and functions properly. The cork on the handle has no gouges or hook divots. Now for the demerits in this rod. The rod is missing the first snake in the mid section and as pictured the tip top on one of the tips has been replaced with what looks like an agate guide without the agate, other than these two ... moreexceptions all other guides are present and accounted for and are in very good condition. The base and mid sections appear to be straight when sighted down but not so the tips. The tip with the replacement tip top has a pronounced bow as you can see in the first photo, the other tip, although the tip top appears to be correct it seems that it was inexpertly reset to the rod and is not alined to the other snakes. Gary Howells Bamboo Fly Rod 8ft 6inch 4 ¼ oz made to commemorate GGACC service
A early two-piece one-tip 8’ 6” Gary Howells rod made in 1971/72. Apparently as a gift to commemorate 20 yrs of service by a member of the Golden Gate Angling and Casting Club(GGACC) The rod bag is very typically Howells(i.e. probably sewn by his mother) and the aluminum tube has his domed cap but no label. The reel seat is aluminum uplocking but different from later Howells rods in that the ring is two-piece. The zebrawood insert and Wells grip and wraps are all classic Howells. His standard 8’6” 4 ¼ oz rod was a 6wt and that’s what I assume this one to be. Rod and bag are like new; I never fished this rod and do not believe it had been fished when I acquired it. MONTAGUE "Amateur" Fly Rod 8' 2 PCS Split Bamboo Fly Rod
This 2 piece Montague has been restored to be collected or used. The tip has a eyelet and the next eyelet is 4-1/4" down from the tip. The next one is 5-1/4" and the next is 6-1/4" from that one, and the next is 8-1/4" from that one, and 12" from that one, and 11" from that one and 1-1/2" from the male coupler that is 2" long. The 2nd piece from the female coupler is 3-1/8" long and the eyelet starts is 3/4" from the end of the female coupler-the next eyelet is 12" down this piece and the next small floating eyelet is 21" from the last eyelet. The handle cork starts 2-1/2" from the floating eyelet. The handle is 6" long and the rest is the reel seat. This rod is in very very good condition as it was restored. The Montague sticker partly missing-but it is 80% clear.

Classic Unmarked Bamboo Combo Casting/Fly Fishing Rod On Frame For Restoration.
This vintage rod needs to be restored. Since the varnish is dark and alligatored. This outfit has a removable handle section which can be reversed to put the reel seat in the proper place for casting or fly rod use. The casting rod measures 6 ft. all the proper length. Other than the varnish this is in very good condition, the sections essentially straight, proper length, ferrule good and tight. Note that all guides and the tip top have agate inserts. The fly rod configuration measures about 8'8" assembled. The butt section measures 37 3/4" with the handle attached, 34' on the mid section and 32" on the tip section. The ferrule between butt and mid is proper. Note that the female ferrule on the mid needs to be reset, the ferrule is a different design with a soldered welt and the fit to the tip section is extremely tight. ... moreThe tip top is an old style three-ring triangular type. This comes on a velvet covered wood rod form, no bag or tube. A lot of words for a rod that starts with a low starting bid. Should be fun-and challenging-to restore.

Shafts are the typical rich brown and naturally the cane work is impeccable. The varnish is very good over all but shows some sloppy amateur patches and has some chips out. Brown wraps tipped tan. Raised stripper with a nice amber agate insert. The blued ferrules fit tightly and show some wear. The 7” cork grip is sound, soiled and the forward 2” show noticeable compression from use. There are no cracks, cuts, or chunks out but the cork is obviously compressed from finger pressure during casting. Sturdy bright D/L reel seat with“Payne” clearly stamped on the collar. The butt is stamped with a bulls eye and the number“4”This is a powerful, medium action rod ... morethat can be spey or conventionally cast and will gracefully throw an entire Wulff TT or long belly WF#9 line. Nice old split bamboo fly rod. This rod has 4 pcs. Makes 2 different rods. The base, center piece and a tip makes a 9' rod. the base and a heavier tip makes a shorter and sturdier rod. No name brand. I got it out and did a little bit of casting practice with it and had no issues. The only markings are the South Bend label on the one side of the rod just above the handle and the numbering on the other that as near as I can tell reads 26-5 3/2. Assembled.
