Vintage 4 piece bamboo fly fishing rod. Label is for Supplee-Biddle Hardware Company(S.B.H. Co) in Philiadelphia PA I believe. Label also says Congress Fishing Tackle. The Reel seat is stamped Congress Qualitey Trade Mark. Each Section is 35" long, so I think its probable an 8 1/2ft rod. Cork is dirty but shows only normal wear. Two guides have been re-wrapped and one needs to be redone, but it looks like all guides are accounted for. One of the two tips has a pretty good bow to it. The tips look original, and all sections of the fishing rod are the same length. Label does have wear. The original rod holder comes with the rod and has both of the ties in place. Small label tacked into the holder site for the main section has owners name and Titusville PA written on the tag. VINTAGE MONTAGUE CHUBB 8.6 PRE 1930s SPLIT BAMBOO FLY FISHING ROD This auction is for a vintage three piece Montague Chubb 8.6’ split bamboo fly fishing rod with original form fitting case(no tie strings on the case) There are no Montague identifications however this was common in these early 1900’s rods. The reel seat. Winding check and ferrules are characteristic of Montague Chubb rods. All sections measure 35” Based on the taper and the rod action I would estimate the fly line weight at a four-five. The 5 ¾” cigar shaped cork handle is in great condition. The 4 ½” sliding ring would indicate the rod was manufactured pre 1930’s. It has a small dent however it is fully functional. There are three snake eye guides on the mid and tip sections. The stripper guide on the bottom section and wraps near the winding check have been professionally ... moreretied. The sections fit together perfectly and have the distinct pop sound when removed. There is a natural set in the tip section. I meticulously stripped the old varnish. Refinished with four coats of spar varnish and completed it with high quality wood rubbing compounds. The ferrules have been buffed and polished. The classic honey colored bamboo cane and varnish finish are gorgeous. The rod has a wonderful wispy bamboo cane casting action and may well be suited throwing a four/five weight fly line. It will also make a handsome addition to any collection. It's my pleasure to offer at auction a Very Nice and Seldom Seen 1928-1932 FRED D. DIVINE ROD CO. CASCADE" 9-1/2 FT. 3/2 SPLIT BAMBOO FLY ROD WITH THE ORIGINAL LABELED BAG, ALUMINUM TUBE AND*RARE* FACTORY HANG TAG. This is the first"Cascade" model from Divine I have ever seen and the first to be offered in quite some time. Certainly, one of the rarest of Divine models. Even noted author and friend Michael Sinclair, who wrote the great reference book"Fishing Rods by DIVINE" told me that it wasn't until several years after he wrote the book that he became aware of the existence of the Cascade(which is why, obviously, the model isn't included in the book) He also said that he thought the model dated to about 1928 to 1932. The rod carries the Serial#R6846, indicating it couldn't have been built until at ... moreleast the 1920's. The rodshaft carries an absolutely perfect black-bordered gold decal which reads"The Divine Rod Utica, N.Y. in script. Apparently, this particular decal was first used around 1926. Built with a very nicely swelled butt of what I assume is Tonkin cane and comes equipped with an extra tip section, steel stripper& tip tops, 14) snake guides(4 on the mid, 5 on each tip) high-grade welted& serrated ferrules, flip-ring hook keeper, sliding band reel seat, a very delicate solid cork half-Wells grip and wound in what appears to be red or maroon silk tipped in gold. Like some of the other models that were the last to appear in the late 1920's, closely-wound intermediates are found only between the last snake guide and tip top. Rod is in Fine to Very Fine original condition, showing moderate wear. Other than one tip top having been reset, resulting in the one tip being short just 1/2" the rod is quite nice. Bamboo is perfect, with no splits, cracks or delamination whatsoever. Three sections are reasonably straight, with one tip having only a moderate set. Vintage Bamboo Fly Rod. This includes 4 Pieces. This rod is being sold for parts or for restoration/repair. The part with the handle measures 37 1/4" It has the handle. The eye and the ferrule. The next part measures 18 3/4" and it has 2 eyes and both ferrules. The next two parts are both tips. One measurers 31" and has the end broken off. It has the one ferrule and three eyes. The windings are different from the other pieces, so it probably came from a different rod. The last part measures 36 1/2" and is a complete tip but missing the eyes. It has a ferrule.

This vintage 4 piece FLY ROD has a decal near the handle that says"MONTAQUE_PER" with a Leaping Trout. The decal has some missing letters. The rod has two tips. One is a little shorter, the longer one has a broken eye at the tip. The main section of the rod has some damage around metal part where the middle section goes into it, but it still works. It is a 4# and weighs in at 5 ounces. The finish on the rod and the balance is as good as I have ever held in my hand! This would be the ultimate with drys! It is so light. Balanced and the tip? Up for bids is a beautiful Heddon' FOLSOM' Model 1510 9' 3/2. In mint condition with new sock and vintage Peerless aluminum tube for protection. I can find NO FLAWS in this rod! Has the distinctive red agate guide on butt. All sections equal and proper length at 36 5/8 inches. Cork is nice. Reel seat just as it should be- threads nice and smooth. I believe the'FOLSOM' was the highest grade trade rod Heddon produced. It is circa 1940s. It is the equivalent to the Heddon#10'BLUE WATERS' Also widely recognized as a high grade rod. Up for bids is a nice vintage 8 1/2' 3/1 split bamboo fly rod. No maker ID upon inspection. The rod appears to be all original(minus extra tip! Lengths all good at 34 1/2" Guides and wraps intact and tight. Finish very good. Maybe not as much luster as some but still very nice. No pitting or chips anywhere. Only flaw I can find is the reel seat threading has a crack. The tension ring nut maintains integrity for good tight reel mount- rod still very fishable! Have added a NOS rod sock and nice vintage aluminum rod tube for protection. Always try and pair up for nice old rods. Please view pics and bid accordingly. This is one of fifty commemorative rods that were designed by Tom Maxwell at Leonard and executed to uncompromising standards. This rod, 42 in the run, has the older-styled butt cap and knurled sliding band over the varnished butternut spacer. The handle is varnished rattan, with red silk, and the ferrules are the older truncated, pot-bellied style. The guides and intermediate wraps are wound with the correct crimson silk that Leonard used for over a century. The ferrules have the nickel silver“stoppers” English for ferrule plugs) and each section is serial numbered“8142. This rod is factory fresh, and has obviously never been used. It comes in a Leonard cloth bag and the correct Leonard brass capped tube.

Offered without reserve is a vintage Split Bamboo Fly Rod/ Fishing Pole with a cloth bag from an estate. I suspect that this may date back into the 1940's or 50's era and it may be an Orvis? It has 3 sections(one handle and 2 tip sections) One tip section has the number 90148, the other is marked with some numbers are covered with the thread. One tip section is 42" long, the other is 39 1/2" The lower handle section is 46 1/2" long, it has a number or a name hand written but it has wear so I do not know what it says. when the longer tip is installed it is approx. 88" long. VINTAGE JAPANESE OKUTAMA SPLIT BAMBOO COMBO FLY ROD & CASTING ROD IN WOOD CASE
On the outside of the wooden box there is a sticker that say's Manufacturer of Split Bamboo Fishing Rod Trade Mark Okutama Tokyo. Japan Okutama Company. The wooden box measures 34 1/2" long 4" Wide and 3" Deep. There are two latches on the front. Wrapped all the way around on the lower part of the box is duct tape. I cannot see a reason for it, it does not appear to have been broken, but I have not removed the tape. On the top of the inside of the box there are two sliding compartments that are filled with unused bobbers, flies, line, snelled hooks. Please see photos for the tackle. In the other compartment there are 5 pieces of rods. Two can be put together for a Casting Rod. Three can be put together for the fly rod. There is an extra tip included. A total of 5 rod pieces. All eyes are intact and no breaks. On the rod ... morepieces there are two wrappings that are loose. Otherwise everything looks in very nice condition.

All sections measure 37” I would estimate the fly line weight a five-six. The seven inch cork handle and screw down lock reel seat are in great condition. There are two snake eye guides on the mid section. Three on the tip and a stripper guide/hook keeper on the bottom section. One guide on the mid and tip sections have been professionally re-wrapped. The rd fits together perfectly when assembled. There is a very sight natural set in the tip section which will not affect the casting of the rod. I meticulously stripped the old varnish. F.E. Thomas Special 9' Trout 3pc Bamboo Fly Rod Orig Bag & Tube Bangor, Maine
Early. Pre-1937 F.E. Thomas Special, 3 piece, 2 tip rod has rarely seen cork cap and ring seat, half wells grip, and scarce red silk and black tipped wrap combination, with full intermediate windings. Beautiful Agate stripping guide. And reverse twist snake guides. Mid section on this rod is 3/4" short. And 2nd tip is 2 1/2" short. 1st tip and Butt section are full length. 2nd tip has elongated snake guides and a strut style tip top. But is obviously original. Chances are that this was either one of the very few rods that were actually made with two different tips. Or this tip was made at the Thomas shop as a replacement later on. Either way, the rod is completely original, and a great example of an early Thomas Special. Varnish is in excellent condition. And this rod would be ready to fish. I took a chance and bought this fly rod for ebay. I thought it was in the right tube. And easy to identify, but when I got home and measured it I quickly realized it was longer than the one on the tube. Here is what I have: South Bend 469 tube(holds a 7' spinning rod) and cap Ocean City#36 reel(nothing special. But good for messing around) 8' 6" bamboo rod in cloth case. No identifiable markings. Comes with two tips. One tip has red thread pretty far down. I don' t know if that's a repair or how it should be. There is no marking on the rod. Nothing in the cork. No writing on the bamboo. I see no maker whatsoever. I sure hope someone scouting the auctions may be able to help me out identifying if this rod is anything special. Thanks! Vintage split bamboo fly rod, No maker's mark, 2 tips with case.
I have had this rod for a while now. With intentions of re-wrapping the guides and actually using it for trout in Massachusetts, but I moved to Louisiana and had quadruplets. So I don't have time to fish never mind repair the rod. Most of the guides are missing now and the threads are coming loose. Louisiana heat and humidity? Hopefully will go to a good home, were someone will repair her, or give her a good spot in their man cave.

VINTAGE MAYFLOWER POST WW II SPLIT BAMBOO FLY CASTING FISHING ROD This auction is for a vintage five piece Post WWII Mayflower Japanese split bamboo fly and casting rod with storage box. The rod is in its original condition. There is a decal on the bottom section. It can be used as an eight foot fly rod or a 5’ 4” casting rod. I would estimate it would match with a three or four weight fly line. The six inch cork handle and screw lock reel seat are in very good functional condition. There are two snake eye guides on the mid section and three on each of the tip sections. There is a stripper guide/hook keeper on the bottom section. The rod fits together nicely when assembled and has the distinct pop sound when removed. There is some wear on the male ferrule of the mid section(see picture) but it fits just fine with the bottom section. There ... moreis a natural set which will not affect the casting of the rod. The bamboo cane and varnish finish are in there original condition. The storage box has issues with some cracks/splits and the end side wooden sections are missing and some are loose. They can be easily repaired with wood glue. This vintage rod can still be used and would prove versatile for any of the waters you fish. It will also make an excellent addition to collection. James Reams 8'6" Bamboo Fly Rod
We have for auction. Another James Reams, 2 piece, bamboo fly rod. This rod is 8'6" for a WT 5 fly line. All sections are straight, the varnish is excellent, as are the wraps. The rod features Jim's, hollow built construction, and is light in the hand, despite it's length. Those that have cast this rod, consider as good or better then a Payne 204, which has been a bench mark for cane rods of this length. This rod will protect light tippets, yet reach out to 60' or so when needed and handle large trout. All blued hard ware is complete. The rod has been fished, in that the tip tops show a bit of loss of color, but not the guides,and there is some light soling to the grip. According to the inscription on the shaft, this is number 138, made in January of 2005. VINTAGE RARE UNIVERSAL 8 3WT SPLIT BAMBOO FLY FISHING ROD This auction is for a vintage three piece 8’ Universal” split bamboo fly rod. There is a Universal inscription on the bottom section. I am unsure of the original manufacturer but the rod does have quality hardware components. All of the sections measure 32 ¼” I would estimate the fly line weight at a three. Eight foot split bamboo fly rods are somewhat rare and not commenly found. They make for great creek and stream fishing rods. The 5 ¾” cork handle and screw down lock wooden spacer reel seat are in great condition. There are three snake eye guides on the mid section. Five on the tip and an agate stripper guide/hook keeper on the bottom section. The rod fits together perfectly when assembled, has the distinct pop sound when removed and is straight. There is an overwrap ... moreon the mid section near the female ferrule. The tip section is not original to the rod but as stated fits perfectly. I meticulously stripped the old varnish. Refinished with four coats of spar varnish and completed it with high quality wood rubbing compounds. The ferrules have been buffed and polished. The light brownstone/honey colored bamboo cane and varnish finish are beautiful. The rod has a classic action and would be perfect for brushy creeks and streams.
