Debell used many components from Phillipson rods and this rod was most likely built on a Phillipson blank. With that being said, this rod is in good used shape and it is ready to hit the water. The cork handle has some wear and light ridging, but it still feels great in your hand. Please note, the butt-section has a minor set. Also, one tip section is about 1/4" shorter than the other (it looks like it was made that way). The ferrules fit tight, but they do need a good cleaning. This rod comes with the tube and sock. From reading the ... morehistory of this model, the blank came from Scotland(it says'Scotlaqnd' on the end cap) and was finished in Vermont. The rod is in excellent overall shape-the guides are free of any corrosion and the wraps look great! The only wear that I see is on the locking ring for the reel. Which can be seen in the pictures. Otherwise it looks like the rod wasn't fished very much. I have lawn cast it with a 7 weight and it loaded nicely. I am sure it could handle an 8 weight line as well. It looks to be a great rod for steelhead or for fishing the larger rivers out west. Given the condition it would also make a nice collector's addition. The rod comes with a steel tube and cloth sack. I will ship USPS Priority Mail and insured unless the buyer has a different preference. Please let me know if you have any questions.

The 300 series of South Bend's were their"Dry Fly Actions" moderate to fast. That said, I've fished drys, nymphs, soft-hackles, streamers, skaters and bass bugs with this rod. It's a blast to cast! Although the rod was lightly used before I acquired it. Age dried and cracked both the finish and old wraps. Up for auction one lot of vintage fly rod parts. Mostly pieces and odds and end. I sorted through them and tried to see if any were complete. Two appear to be complete. One is marked South Bend. It is a three piece rod and has a new cork handle that was nicely applied and finished and the varnish has been removed along with all the old wrappings and guides, the line guides are missing. All three sections are present, but the middle ferule is missing on the side closest to the handle piece. No cracks or splits. Another rod has 4 sections(two of which are tips) The handle metal is marked HSB&CO REVO-NOC, a few of the guides are missing and the some of the wrappings are loose and the handle has been filed on one side, probably for an automatic fly reel trigger? No cracks or splits. Another handle is marked Luck CO. The rest seem to be misplaced ... moretips and middle sections. All seem very repairable, by that I mean they are cracked or split, except for one middle section, which appears to have had a repair started, but not finished? I know almost nothing about bamboo fly rods. I would say that all of these pieces are poor to fair condition. They are better than junk, but all need TLC.

This is a vintage bamboo fly rod that come with a few of its original accessories bobbers. Hooks line etc. the case was somewhat restored and had a repair to the end where the sliders that cover the accessories are. The clip on both ends that lock the case shut are missing but the hinges to open and shut it are working. The rod however, I can't tell if it has ever been used. It can be made to at least 2 lengths. This 3 piece fly fishing rod has the original extra tip for 4 pieces total. When assembled it is perfectly straight with either tip, it has no chips or major cracks in the cork and the varnish very nice. This rod is fully functional and in Great condition and appears just barely used. It is all original with no damages or repairs and you will have a very hard time finding a better original 9043 than this. This is a very nice and very lightly used Heddon Premier# 115 8-1/2' Bamboo Fly Rod. It is a three piece rod with an extra tip and comes with its original Heddon aluminum tube and rod sock. The label on the sock is correct to this specific rod. Heddon Premier" is written along one side of the rod shaft and on the other side is# 115- 8-1/2' 2- F- H D H or E. This"complete" information written in a straight line indicates that the rod was made sometime after 1939. The"Premier" Rods were manufactured by Heddon under an exclusive agreement for Sears. ... moreRoebuck and Company and were marketed exclusively by Sears. This arrangement gave Sears a product with the prestigeous Heddon Label and it provided Heddon with the added advertising exposure of the world's largest retailer. Overall. This vintage rod is in outstanding condition. Please check out the pictures thoroughly. The reel seat and compression hardware are in good condition and function properly. The cork handle is clean and free of any dings, dents or gouges and all of the line guides and thread-wraps are intact, straight and tight. The Butt Section and and both Tip Sections measure exactly 34-1/2" The Intermediate Section is 1" shorter(33-1/2" and the thread-wrap on the top ferrule, while professional in appearance, has been replaced. This can be viewed in picture# 9. All of the other wraps appear to be original. The ferrules are in good condition with no cracks and they fit together nicely. I can find no cracks or delamination anywhere in the cane. The varnish finish is in good condition and there is no evidence of it having been refinished. Under Female Butt Ferrule: Pat. Sept. 3 1878. Pat. Oct. 26. 75. This rod has it all. The look, the smell, the patina, even the name of the previous owner. The tube is inscribed Chas. A. Coolidge. And the tube cap has C.A. Coolidge etched in it. Could it have been fished by the famous cousin of President Calvin Coolidge– Charles A Coolidge? I don’t know but it is possible. There are a lot of great things about this rod. It was sold with 2 mid sections and 3 tips. Also comes with the original cloth that houses all these sections. The reel seat has been repaired several times as can be seen in the pictures. The ferrules are all in great shape and the butt ferrule has the patent dates below the witness mark. The male ferrule on the full length tip doesn’t pop. And should have some paraffin applied. It would be fine to fish with a little paraffin. All others pop when removing. Ferrule size as follows: Tip male– 11/64. Mid Male– 17/64. Each section 38.5 inches with exception to two tips. One down 2.5 inches, the other down 4. Total weight of one butt. Mid, and full length tip– 5.3 oz. The rod casts a DT4 Cortland Sylk fly line a country mile. Again all sections are equal length with exception to two tips that are 2.5 inches and 4 inches short. All straight as an arrow. If you want a 9.5 foot piece of history to fish, this is it. VINTAGE RARE HORROCKS IBBOTSON SPLIT BAMBOO FLY FISHING ROD - 8' 7"
This vintage split bamboo fly rod was made by Horrocks Ibbotson of Utica. N.Y. The three piece rod comes with an extra tip and each section measures 35 1/4" for just under 9' when put together. The rod is in very good condition with no splits or cracks and an intact cork handle. All chrome is shiny and the varnish shows no signs of wear. The H-I label is half torn off. It appears that someone etched-Davis-in very small letters in a section of the rod under the cork handle but it could be easily covered up. It comes also with the original cloth case that has two interior sections for protection. It will be carefully packaged and quickly shipped. Thanks for looking!

The threads are good and hold the reel tight. Two eyes are missing from the center section and there is a wrap of tape. I have no idea why it's there. When I bend the rod it does'nt give and is not broke. All the the other eyes are good and not bent. All the wraps are good. The ferrels slide good and are tight. There are two tips. The reel is in good shape and works as it should. The rod and the reel are not marked. Under the mount on the reel it says Japan. Comes with the fabric sleeve for the rod. The bottom and mid sections measure 37” one tip is 35 and the second tip section is 34 ¼” I would estimate it would match with a five-six weight fly line. The 6 ¾” cork handle and screw down lock wooden spacer reel seat are in great condition. There are tree snake eye guides on the mid section which have been nicely rewrapped. There are four snake eye guides on each tip section and a stripper guide/hook keeper on the bottom section. The rod fits together perfectly when assembled. There is a H&U decal and Lucky Ace inscription. All of the sections measure 35” I would estimate it would throw a nice five weight fly line. The 5 ¾” cork handle and screw down lock reel seat are in great condition. There are two snake eye guides on the mid section and one tip section. There are three on the other tip section and a stripper guide on the bottom section. The stripper guide and one snake eye guide on the mid section have been professionally rewrapped. One tip section is not original to the rod however all sections fits together perfectly when assembled and have the distinct pop sound when removed. This auction is for a vintage bamboo Granger Victory fly rod. The picture shows 4 rod segments but this is a 3 piece rod. There a 2 of the same end pieces. One of the pieces is broken as seen in the pics. The other piece is in nice condition. All eyelets are intact. Even the ones in the broken piece. This will give you some extras. The other flaw on the rod is a split and warping in the bamboo near the cork handle. I am no expert but it looks repairable. Probably during the late 1930s, the“Bristol years, by Gene and Bill Edwards.Like many Edwards rods of this period, this one has one or two small quirks. It has a high-quality down-locking reelseat over a wood spacer, an agateen stripper, nine snake guides(i.e. five on each tip) mid-grade rolled-welt nickel silver ferrules, and 1-inch corks on the cigar grip. The model name is written in beautiful script on the shaft in black ink(seen on Edwards rods made for A&F and L.L. Bean instead of the family’s traditional white ink) and is 100% intact. When I took it out to get pictures, it was only the third time it's seen daylight. Metal Case has some minor scratching from various moves over the years etc. It belonged to my Father-in Law. A retired Army Colonel, they relocated a lot. Other than that. It is in pristine condition. It even smelled new the first time I opened it! This a beautiful piece. It has a rubber base cap that is included but is in very rough condition and has no markings either. A new rubber cane tip with the right dimensions would fit well for a replacement. Vintage South Bend #359-9 BAMBOO 4 Piece FLY FISHING ROD Pole For Repair/Restore
Vintage South Bend Bamboo Fly fishing rod. Model#359-9' Comes in four sections. With two rod tips. This rod has been well used, and is in need of some repair/restoration. Line guide on the main section by the tip is missing and the guide wrapping there is frayed. Next section has a loose guide and the next guide is not on at all. I do have the missing guide eyelet for this section. The two tips have all the guides and appear to be intact. I do not see any obvious cracks or breaks in any of the sections, the repairs needed are more cosmetic/functional. The cloth case appears to be in fairly good condition with slots for all four sections. If you are a collector you would know better how to judge the condition of this fly rod and if it can be restored or repaired to add to your collection or used for trading fodder. vintage old bamboo 5 piece fly fishing rod pole w/case 6' or 9' combination
Up for your consideration is a vintage bamboo 5 piece fly fishing rod with canvass and weaved case. It appears this pole can be used either as a 6' or 9' rod. Two pieces form a 6' rod while three pieces make a 9 footer. There is a extra third section for the 9 footer. I can't find a brand name as the original finish has worn off. Other than that the poles look to be in very nice shape. Extra tread is wrapped around the tip eye on the 6' section. All the eyes are intact. The canvass case is pretty worn. Also comes with a weaved type case that has spread open on one end. Not sure if this is original to the rod. Over all nice set up. The 6' rod would be great for that high country river fishing. England) disgorger is a bit over 4" long, has a ruler on one side and advertising and a trout's length to weight ratio on the other. Disgorgers are quite useful, yet normally mundane tools, used to assist the angler in removing a hook or fly from the fish. The premise of"mundane" obviously did not work for Cummins, so they created this elaborately decorated disgorger. Trutta Classic TR-1 Fly Reel - Great with Bamboo Fly rod
This classic style TR-1 fly reel was hand machined by the famed Japanese maker Trutta. It is made of nickel silver with black Delrin side plates and serpentine counter-balanced handle. The spool has a 2 7/8 inch diameter and 7/8 inch internal width. Suitable for 3 to 5 weight lines. It shows some very minor wear with a few small barely discernable scratches to the sides and equally minor areas of wear to the rims. It has a fixed pawl and can be used either left or right hand. This model was discontinued a few years back and sold for approximately $460 at the time. Trutta reels are relatively rare in the U.S. are are limited in production. Everything is original to the reel but I do not know if it was originally shipped with a reel case. It currently comes with a brown canvas LL Bean reel case with faux cotton shearling lining. Winston Bamboo Fly Rod 7 Feet 2 piece San Fransisco Vintage Cane Flyrod
Here is a very rare Winston prototype Experimental Fly Rod. Glenn Bracket tells me this rod was built in 1949 by Doug Merrick and Red Lasket. Two of the most esteemed builders ever, in their San Fransisco shop. The rod includes the original dark brown aluminum brass-capped tube in excellent shape and the correctly labeled Winston red rod sock. This rod is for a 6 weight line and that's what I've used when fishing it. It is a great rod if you fish for big fish, with big flies in small water. I have used this during the salmon fly hatch on the West Fork of the Bitterroot, Palisades creek in Idaho, Silver Creek and various other small waters where you need the power of a 6 line to throw a giant nymph, streamer or dry fly. Using a 4 weight to throw a#6 Sofa Pillow into a Rocky Mountain wind and then trying to turn a 20 inch fish on a ... more7 foot 4 weight rod is not good for the fish, the rod, or the angler! I have set the reserve quite low for a one-of-a-kind Winston rod. Grip has minor soiling. Rod is straight, full length, and in near-perfect shape. Vintage 2-Piece Split Bamboo Bait Casting Rod Fly Rod Signed Dated 1980 7' 3'
I know very little about fishing rods. This is a split bamboo casting or fly fishing pole or rod. It looks like new to me. But its dated 1980 and signed J.K. The guy at the fishing store told me it is an expensive, collectible pole. and had a fantastic feel. light and snap. There are 7 guides and the handle is cork. It is approx. 87" or 7' 3" long. It all looks new to me except for some aging on the metal parts of the handle. The pole itself seems thin to me, the diameter at the bottom by the handle is 3/8 inch, and the diameter at the tip is 3/16. Please email me any questions. HUGE Vintage Bamboo Fishing Cane Pole Wooden Fly Rod 15' Foot Brass Ends Antique
For sale is an old vintage/antique bamboo cane fishing pole. It has 3 sections with brass connectors and measures 15 feet long. This thing is HUGE Each section is approx 5 feet. So you could just use two sections for a nice 10 foot rod. Has a brass eyelet on the tip and on the brass connectors. The bamboo is very flexible yet strong. Making for great action. There is a crack down the middle of the largest section(bottom piece) but it does not compromise the pole. Bamboo is VERY sturdy and strong. The pieces brass fit together.
