It's hard to see in the picture, but the hook keeper in front of the grip is also completely intact. I believe this rod was manufactured in the fifties, but I really don't know for certain. The Heddon name and the dimensions are written vertically along the shaft in script letters. It comes with its o riginal black fabric bag& original labelled Heddon tube/case(made of aluminum. I think) ROD CONDITION: I am not an expert. But e very piece of the rod looks to be in great condition. Especially considering its age. The grip has some minor wear, but it is still in good condition. This rod has obviously been well cared for and stored properly. ... moreCASE& JACKET: It comes in original black fabric jacket and hard aluminum case. The jacket is in pretty good shape overall. But it has a hole in it near the bottom(see picture) The small white manufacturer's tag has also been torn off(please see pictures) The outer case is in good condition overall. The middle section is 32 1/2" long, and the tip section is 32 1/2" long, and does have a very slight bow to it(less than 1/2" There are only a few distinguishing marks or writings on the rod, the first being the Patent#1624052 on the rod attaching rings, and the other being the name"Louis Phillips" hand written on the first section, and Minturn, Colo. below it, see picture#5. Restored rare Horrocks-Ibbotson 7'8" Featherlight Bamboo Fly Rod
This is a restored 3/1 rare Featherlight rod by H& I. The ferrules. Reel seat, and winding check are as bright and shiny as the day it was sold. It also has the original red agate line stripper and tip-top. The wrappings are as close to the original as I could find. The ferrules part with a soft pop. It is an ultra light rod that weighs under 4 oz on my spring loaded food scale. There is a slight set to the mid section and an even slighter set to the tip. It comes with the original holder and sack which is worn, stained and absent the label. A writer on the Classic Fly Rod Forum was of the opinion that the Featherlight was one of higher quality H& I fly rods and"very rare.

Some guides and ferrules of the rod have been rewrapped and one tip is a replacement from a different Leonard rod, and it is excellent. The butt and mid sections are complete and full length and measure 38.5 inches long, one original tip is short at 30.5 with a male ferrule replacement, the second and better tip is from a Leonard rod and measures 37 inches with the original Leonard guides and male ferrule. Much care has been put into this rod's reconditioning and all Leonard characteristic fittings are in very good condition. Aside from the replacement male ferrule on the short tip and one guide. I am a member of the American Casting Association in the Catskill chapter, Livingston Manor and Roscoe, NY, and very prominent persons have cast this rod with much praise for its slow load yet accurate delivery of a fly line. It loads slowly and casts slowly, yet puts out a lengthy amount of fly line with a very smooth and gentle delivery. The cane is sound and the patina on the original butt and mid sections have some underlying crazing but almost unnoticeable. And the patina is beautiful. The 5-6 weight rod is fitted with the Montague Scrulock reel seat. The label is about 75% Readable and in good condition. The finish is clear and clean. The cane boasts a wonderful golden patina. Up for auction is an awesome three-piece Orvis Impregnated Wes Jordan bamboo fly rod with leather carrying case. This vintage rod has a beautiful finish which I believe is mahogany and is in excellent condition all around. In areas where the rod has been hand scribed. It appears to have some sort of protective coating on these areas which can be seen in the photos, so this is why the rod coloring appears funny or to be off-colored in the photos. The guides all need to be replaced and the ferrules are in poor condition, they are corroded with the base of the mid section ferrule split and the male tip ferrule is stuck in it. Set is complete with original cloth sleeve. Original aluminum protective tube, and additional tip. I believe the rod is manufactured by Hedden for Lyon and Coulson Co. of Buffalo, NY. 10' 11Wt fly rod. 3 Piece. This is a very interesting rod. It belonged to a friend of mine from England who passed away. He was an avid fly fisherman and owned a fly fishing business in Maine. He told me this rod was a Hardy, he had it restored by Phil Dimitrie of Housatonic Meadows fly shop. I have never fished the rod but he fished it often. It is in excellent condition, ferrules pop. and everything is tight. It has an extra long grip suggesting it might cast two handed, the black outline on the grip is for reel placement, he used a Hardy Zenith multiplier reel on it. 3 Piece Bamboo Fishing Fly Rod 135” length, 10oz weight.
A 3 piece bamboo fishing or fly rod which is marked as having been sold at K Mart and made in Japan. Each section is approx. 47” long and when put together is 135” long. Weight of the 3 pieces is 10 oz. The metal sleeves for putting them together are both fine and work well. 1 line guide is missing on base section but all others are intact(there is a metal ring missing on the middle guide on small end section as well) and held in place with a fine thread and varnished over. A sticky area on base about 12” up makes it appear someone may have had a reel attached at one time. Couple tiny drops of white paint found near where the reel may have been attached. VINTAGE CUSTOM MONTAGUE CHUBB EARLY 1900S SPLIT BAMBOO FLY FISHING ROD This auction is for a vintage custom four piece 9’ Montague Chubb split bamboo fly fishing rod. There are no Montague identifications however this was common in these early 1900’srods. The reel seat. Winding check and ferrules are characteristic of Montague Chubb rods. The bottom section measures 39 ½” mid section is 38” and the tip sections are 34 ½” and 33 ¾” I would estimate the fly line weight at a six. The 5 ¼” cork handle and 5” sliding ring reel seat are in good functional condition and indicates the rod was manufactured between at the turn of 1900’s. The mid and tips sections have three snake eye guides and there is a stripper guide on the bottom section. The guides have all been professionally rewrapped. The 34 ½” tip section is not original ... moreto the rod however it and all the sections fit together perfectly when assembled. There is a slight vibration in the mid to bottom section ferrules most likely because of the pinned ferrules. The tip sections have a natural set; neither of these will affect the casting or us of the rod. I meticulously stripped the old varnish. Refinished with four coats of spar varnish and completed it with high quality wood rubbing compounds. The ferrules have been buffed and polished. The classic honey colored bamboo cane and varnish finish are beautiful. This classic Chubb rod can still be used and would be a prized addition to any collection. This 4 piece split bamboo rod was used. But is in very good shape. All the connecting parts are working and none of them are split. Is a 9' nine) footer, the tips are good, one of them is 4-l/2" shorter and a replacement tip put on. Probably made between 1945-50. The cloth is original-not sure about the tube, but it came with the rod. The handle has a thumb impression in it called, COMFICIENT(Comfortable-Efficient) GRIP. Number on other side of South Bend sticker about reel-grip. 359.9 Don't know what that means. This rod could be used to fish or a very good collectable.

Really beautiful rod from Montague Rods. All sections are straight and same length. No breaks or cracks. Reel seat is in great shape. Some ridges on the cork. But not bad for A vintage rod. I did full rewrap of the rod last winter using a thread technique to keep the rod looking as it should. The original thread used on this Montague Sunbeam model was an alternating dark blue/white at random intervals. Kinda cool. It needed some TLC, so I redid it as a labor of love for bamboo rods. This rod is virtually like new. Beautiful! Impregnated bamboo 2 1/2 ozs the Cortland 444 are a much sought after fly rod. The rod has no blemishes I can see. This auction is for a KIRAKU& CO. INC combination fly rod& casting Bamboo rod. They appear to be in fair to good condition. The metal handle portion of the fly rod is loose and there is a picture of that. The bag is very worn and there are a few holes in the fabric. There is a picture showing the damage. New” Vintage 3-Piece Bamboo Fly Rod with an extra tip. Measures 8’11” Beautiful restored rod! Each piece measures 36” This rod is made with bamboo blanks from a vintage rod from the 1940’s/50’s. The bamboo rod is now in great shape. I would say this rod casts best as a 7/8 wt. Includes a brand new blue hard travel case and tan rod sock. The bamboo looks new. No water stains or splinters. Very clean and straight. I replaced the reel seat with a new uplocking chrome plated Aluminum reel seat with exotic rosewood insert. I used brand new stainless steel chrome plated snake guides with a line keeper. The old varnish has been removed and I re-wrapped the rod with brown and black thread. It has been finished with 4 coats of Spar Varnish– hand dipped. EARLY GODWIN GRANGER VICTORY 8 1/2 ft Split Bamboo Fly Rod 4 pc w/bag
Very TUFF to Find a Very Early Goodwin Granger Victory made in Denver. 8 1/2 ft 4 piece Bamboo Fly Rod with 2 tip although 1 tip is short as you can see, and the bag the 3 lengths are about 34 1/2" long, I dont see any cracks or breaks, the varnish is bunched up a little in some spots but overall very nice!
