For sale is an old vintage/antique bamboo cane fishing pole. With a beautiful spotted wood pattern/figuring. It has 3 sections with brass connectors and measures 12 feet long. Each section is approx 4 feet. So you could just use two sections for a nice 8 foot rod. Has a brass eyelet on the tip. And wire eyelets down the rod. The bamboo is very flexible yet strong, making for great action. The pieces brass fit together. But may benefit from some light sanding or some plumbers tape for a secure fit. ARTSY VTG BAMBOO FLY ROD 9' 3/1 RLY 1900s AAAA+ CRAFTSMANSHIP 100+ WRAPS- SWEEET
Up for bids is very old(early 1900s) and unique 9' 3/1 bamboo fly rod. It is in excellent condition. The craftsmanship is impeccable as seen in early bamboo fly production. All original hardware. The hand made brass guides with red agate eyes are also indicative of its age(please see closeups to appreciate) It has 113 guide and intermediate wraps- plus delicate crossing wraps above the cork. The gold. Red and dark green colors are striking. The tip was replaced and is two inches shorter(34 3/4" than butt and midsection(36 3/4" There is no identifiable maker. Light varnish on the cork which makes for a decorative look- not that great for feel. Buyer can sand down if desired. I dry casted a#6 weight in the yard and was very nice. Up for bids is a Montague'Amateur' 9' 3/2 split bamboo fly rod. It has a signature" Bass Action" in gold ink. The traditional acetate label is 95% with the fish logo known as very unique and recognized in its time. It appears to have original finish as there are some minor flaws(slight chips in varnish. Porous/pocketed cork) The male ferrule on mid-sections missing wrap and appears newer than the apparent original female ferrule on same piece. Please view pics carefully and bid accordingly. It is a very nice rod with lengths right at 36 1/2" The mid-section is only 36' due to the added shorter ferrule. I have put a new sock and super vintage aluminum tube with it for protection. This is an ORVIS LIGHT SALMON BAMBOO FLY ROD that was built by George Reed and Calvin Skinner in Wes Jordan's fly shop in 1960. The rod is a 9 foot. Two piece, 9 weight and is in excellent condition. I bought it to go after Steel Head but never got the chance. I have used it instead to fish Mid-West Large Mouth Bass and spring Pike. This is an"Impregnated" rod, meaning it is water proofed without varnishes. You can put this fly rod away wet for the night without the worry of softening or ruining the finish. Originally this rod came with a"super-fine" style grip, Orvis loves to use these) they are tiny and well suited for 4 weight rods. I had it replaced with a proper sized big game"full-wells" style grip. This made the rod much more controllable and comfortable to both cast and fight fish with. Vintage Shakespeare Diamond Wrap 9.6 Bamboo Fly Rod Salmon
I have listed here for auction this very fine vintage Shakespeare bamboo 9 and a half foot fly rod. A diamond wrap, Salmon. The rod looks to be in great condition but has been used. The sections all measure 38 inches and has two identical end sections. Those two smaller end sections come in a small bag of their own and also a small aluminum tube which fits in the larger bag and all fits into a larger tube- see picture. All are in great condition. The end caps fit nicely and the larger cap has a rubber ring to seal out the moisture. I do fish, but I'm not a fly fisherman, so I can't give you any specifics, look at the pictures and hopefully you can see the condition of the rod. Beautiful Vintage Heddon Split Bamboo Fly Fishing Rod w/cloth and metal cases
I have been helping a friend of a friend sell items from his home of 35 years due to move to a condo. Found in the rafters of the garage were many vintage fishing poles. One very long homemade. One-piece bamboo pole, which I have been told is a great piece for a collector; however, would be very difficult to ship. Another I found is this Heddon Split Bamboo Tempered Rod with it's cloth case and metal tubular case(one end sort of beat up with no cap and other end has the Heddon cap with rubber base(but it does not stay securely in the tube) I have tried to show pictures of the four part pole and cases. I am not the best picture taker. I know little about fishing equipment and poles. But I do buy and sell in antique malls and online and I feel I know quality when I see it. This pole with all it's parts is beautiful. The cork handle ... moreis like new as are all the rods. Beautiful finish with no wear. One of the metal rod ends does look like it has been inserted into another rod, but other than that I would say this rod is in excellent condition. The middle pole looks to be about 1" shorter than the other three poles(may have been repaired?see last picture) Not sure why the metal case is so scruffed up on the one end.probably just from storage, storage, storage! I welcome any comments and/or questions regarding this item. Would really like to know it's age. The gentleman I am selling for is 71 and it was his father's. Vintage Heddon #20 bamboo fly rod, with Bag, Case,Shakespeare Reel-No reserve!
Out of an estate sale. Comes with a Shakespeare 1094 reel. Heddon trademark spirals around the pole, along with"20" by the cork. 9' long, three piece rod, with an extra tip, 4 piece set. All pieces are the same length, and straight. They fit together tightly, and"pop" when pulled apart. The bamboo, guides, ferrules, and finish are original and in great shape. The bag in good condition, the case is rough, but still threads. Overall very good condition. Reel is made in China, and in very good condition. As pictured. The problems I see: The bottom black plastic butt cap of the reel seat is chipped. The middle rod piece has some scratches around the metal joint, slight damage to the red thread. The cork handle has some small holes. One small, wear hole towards the bottom of the bag. Only a small piece of the original label ... moreon the case remains. I will ship this item with insurance. Sam Carlson 6' 2/2 quad 3wt bamboo fly rod by Tim Zietak
This is an exact replica of the legendary Sam Carlson 6' 2/2 3-wt bamboo fly rod built by the quad expert builder Mr. Tim Zietak. According to Tim. He mic'd the original and produced the exact copy. The original Carlson of this length is extremely rare(only 4 were ever built according to West Slope Classic) It has deep red thread with black trim. Comfortably contoured cork grip and reel seat, black seat-winding checks, a hook keeper, and blued ferrules. The quality of the rod is second to none- beautiful to look at and perfectly built. This rod has been fished but only few times with great care and wiped cleaned each time- the only sign of use is slightly soiled grip. The rod is straight, ferrule fit is perfect which pops when separated, varnish is almost new, and there is no issue with the rod. The action is medium-fast to fast for ... morea bamboo rod and can cast WF3 or even DT4(depending on the distance you fish) Playing trout on this rod is a pure joy with such a light weight and a compact grip which transmits every movement of the fish to your hand. On the bamboo above the cork it is marked in black script writing; Granger Victory” The metal band under the reel is stamped; Pat April 12.1938 Pat No 2.114,107 made by Goodwin Granger Company Denver. All 3 pieces are equal length. Approx. 34-1/2” each. There is only one tip with this rod. I have been told that they could be purchased that way. The bamboo is a shiny, deep honey, color with the wraps being black. The cork is solid with a little wear showing at the bottom rim. There is one guide missing. It is the first one above the handle. Otherwise, I see no obvious damage to call.I didn’t see any cracks or serious missing finish. There were a few scattered‘spots’ I notice in photographing but discovered ... moremost would rub off with a little pressure from my finger. This was an estate find from a 91 year old farmer. Hello up for auction is a group lot of Split Bamboo Fly Fishing Rods and Parts. The first rod is a fly rod that is almost 9 feet long. It is missing a little bid of the top end. There are 3 sections to this rod and it is missing a few of the eyes also. There are no breaks in the bamboo and no name on it. The next rod has two pieces and it is marked Columbia. I'm sure there should be one more section to this fly rod. It is missing some of the eyes and there are no breaks to the bamboo. The last piece is the middle section of a fly rod. 9' Wright McGill Granger Victory 9053 Bamboo Fly Rod 3/2 Recently Refurbished NR
This Wright McGill Granger Victory rod was recently stripped. Completely re-wrapped(in the correct orange& jasper silk thread) and five coats of varnish applied; it has only been fished twice since the refurb. The bamboo is in excellent condition with no issues. All hardware is original. The cork handle is in mint condition, as can be seen in the pictures. Comes with two tip sections, a polished chrome rod tube& rod sock(neither are original to the rod) This rod casts like a dream(as all good Grangers do) is made for a 7 or 8 weight fly line. Only two minor issues: 1) the reel seat is slightly dented where the reel foot presses against it. But this in no way affects the functionality of the reel seat, and is not visible when the reel is attached; and 2) the butt-to-mid section ferrules are a little loose. Note the extra tip piece is short. Comes with a very nice green cloth rod sock, appears to be original to this rod. Also furnished is the GV9050 Goodwin Granger Victory cardboard tube which is in very good shape however it is missing the screw cap. Please read carefully. I will try to describe the condition. First off this has been used. However, this rod is very straight when together, still appears to be fishable but has NOT been tested. Three of the four pieces appear to be in very nice shape, one tip has been broken, note male ferrule ... moreand snake guides on this short tip appear to be in good working order and will be usable on a suitable replacement. The reel seat has a few small flaws, dings, scratches and plus an odd attaching screw. All of the thread wraps appear to be original, they are tight and in very nice condition. Cork handle has signs of use with a few small scratches in the patina finish and a 1/4" chip near the reel seat. Please carefully inspect all of the pictures furnished, I hope they will help. I picked this up at an Estate Sale a few months back just as seen in photos along with a bunch of other fishing and camping gear. I regret to say. Both tip sections have issues but could be professionally scarfed(for about $50 each) The only other issue this rod has is the snake guide at the top of the mid section has broken at one end& needs to be replaced. Here is a detailed description of the condition of each section: The butt section is in superb condition with no issues. Full length(34.5 inches) Bamboo in great shape; the patented uplocking reel seat& cork grip are in excellent condition. As seen in the pictures both ink stamps are in excellent condition; all wraps in great shape& tight. The varnish is in very good condition. The butt-to mid ferrules fit snugly, as do all mid-to-tip ferrules. Mid section-Full length(34.5 inches) straight. With no issues in the bamboo. Vintage Brooklure Bamboo Fly Fishing Rod with Oren-O-Matic Balanced Reel N0. 1140 Model B. This rig has been used and has issues. The biggest being the missing top section. The guide eyelet on the base section is off, but is taped to the metal tip(I did this years ago so it wouldn't get lost) The middle section has a bent guide, a guide that is loose on one end and another that was rewrapped at some point. Don't think it matches the other guides, so is probably a replacement. The fourth guide on this section appears to be okay. There are no cracks that I can see, but there are signs of wear on this setup. The Logo label says Brooklure, and the words Sun Valley Steel Center are hand written( above the logo. The name Harold C. Fisher is written in black near the logo also. It appears that may have been the owners name, and could possibly ... morebe the same name on the reel, but the writing is worn. The Reel is an Oren-O-Matic Balanced Reel No. 1140 Model B. Again, well used, still with the line wound on the reel. There is a Union Hardware Torrington Conn USA inscription on the reel seat. The bottom and mid sections measure 35” and the tip section is 37” I would estimate the fly line weight at a four- five. The 5 ¾” cork handle had a mall section missing near the top(see picture) that I repaired nicely with wood filler and sanded. Both the handle and sliding ring reel seat are fully functional. I have included a new set of seven snake eye guides and stripper guide that you can custom wrap. The tip section is not original to the rod however it and all of the sections fit together perfectly when assembled and have the distinct pop sound when removed. There is a natural set in the tip section. I ... moremeticulously stripped the old varnish. Refinished with four coats of spar varnish and completed it with high quality wood rubbing compounds. The ferrules have been buffed and polished. The brownstone colored bamboo cane and varnish finish are perfect. this is a 1950’s SOUTH BEND NO. 59 9 FT. 3 PIECE SPLIT BAMBOO FLY ROD WITH THE ORIGINAL LABELED Rodshaft. i’m selling this as a restoration project and will try to describe the problems i see one section at a time. first the handle cork has been taped as has the female CONNECTOR; rod section measures 35” the plastic retainer screw in the butt works. the second section has a missing female connector and measures 33” the third section appears to have had a tip replaced. the cloth bag is unmarked but very good condition ties on both ends solid and no holes or TEARS. the aluminum tube is vintage and very nice and complete with a couple of small dents, original caps one has a screw out plug all in good condition Bamboo is in good condition no splits, cracks or delamination. questions welcome Thanks for looking

Edwards Quad #50 8 1/2 Ft #6 Line Bamboo Fly Rod
This rod was purchased by me last year from a high end dealer. As told to me. I am the second owner and the rod was built in 1947. The rod is longer that what I need on my home streams and so decided to sell so as to purchase something more suited to my needs. The rod was used very little and then put away for many years, sold to the dealer last year and then to me. Everything is original including the leather tube and rod bad. You can see from the reel seat the rod was hardly used but there are a couple of varnish chips on the butt, mid and one tip. I have not touched up these chips as they do not really seem to expose the raw cane. One tip looks new upon close inspection of the varnish and ferrule. This rod is 100% straight and the ferrules fit very good. I did lawn cast the rod and it performed extremely with Cortland Peach DT6. Notice ... morein the last picture, just below the ferrule there is a small chip on one of the edges. I have no idea if it came that way or was done by the first owner. It is in beautiful condition with the only flaw being the butt end cap having some dings as you can see in the photo. The rod comes in the soft bag and hard tube with brass end caps. VINTAGE OLYMPIC POST WW II SPLIT BAMBOO FLY CASTING FISHING ROD KIT This auction is for a vintage five piece split bamboo fly and casting rod with an Olympic storage box. It was manufactured by Ueno Seiko Co. LTD Japan. It can be used as a 8’ three piece fly rod(with extra tip) or a two piece 5 ½’ casting rod. All sections measure 32 ½” The Olympic storage box contains the original decals. Introduction pamphlet, 20 hand tied flies, a bobber, leader holder, snelled hooks and an Olympic reel clothe. The six inch cork handle an up lock screw reel seat are in great condition. There are two snake eye guides on the mid section. There on the fly rod tips and two on the casting tip. There is a stripper guide on the bottom section. The bottom section and casting tip are not original to the other sections but fit together perfectly. The mid ... moreand tip sections have a tight fit although they do engage fully(see picture) It will not affect the casting or use of the rod. The bamboo cane and varnish finish are in their original condition and are gorgeous. The wooden storage case has a crack which can be easily repaired. All of the accessories are in good condition. The casting action on the fly rod is incredible! It has a classic wispy bamboo cane action. Wait until you try it. I would estimate it would match nicely with a three-four weight fly line. From my father's collection his notes say"purchased in 1987 rod had been refinished in excellent+ condition- superfine grip and silver hardware. The silver needs to be polished- the rod guides are tight the rod is in great condition. Includes aluminum tube and sleeve. I fished it a couple of times and without a doubt my favorite rod. This is what I think is a 3 section rod with an extra section to make it a 2 section rod for tight fishing situations, but again that’s only my guess. Marked on thee rod is NFT. When the 3 sections are put together it’s about 8’ from tip to end of handle and when 2 sections are put together it’s about 64” 5 ½’ from tip to end of handle. Ebisu Rainbow Bamboo Fishing Rod Made in Japan Spin/Fly Fishing in Box
For sale at a buy it now fixed price is this early 1950s vintage rod made in Japan. It is an Ebisu Rainbow fly/spin fishing combo rod. You reverse the grip section to fish it as a fly fishing rod. As a two piece spinning rod it is a 5'4" rod. As a three piece fly fishing rod it measures just short of 8 feet long. It appears that the tip top of the fly section has been replaced so it is probably a couple of inches shorter than it was originally manufactured but it still throws the line well. The line size for which it is balanced for is unmarked but it throws either 6 weight or 8 weight lines pretty comfortably. As a spinning rod I think you would want to keep the mono at 8 pounds or less. The rod is marked and there is a paper logo inside the case. There are no flies or other pieces in the case(it originally came with a few flies) ... moreCondition is used but in excellent condition with no damage other than the shortened fly section mentioned. The wraps and reel seat are good. The light wooden case. On the other hand, is a disaster.largely held together with scotch tape and with no end section on one side(it is actually there in the case if you want to reglue it in.
