Up for bid is a pair of antique Southern Officials armchairs from China. I am not an expert on these so the limited information I have gleaned is from the Internet. I can tell you they are a matched set with bamboo seats. The lacquered wood is in excellent condition with just a few small areas of color loss and light scratches. They are very well constructed with beautiful carvings. They measure about 42" tall x 24" wide x 19" deep. I have provided 12 images but if you need more please ask and I will gladly send them. Hi. This is for a pretty lightly played 7 hole Shakuhachi Yuu. The two extra holes play Eb& Bb, this one has the addition of an 8th hole between the F& G holes that plays F# Gb. I added the 8th hole for two reasons, first, for more range, 2nd, because I prefer the extra hole under my right middle finger, I also really like the Gb included in the basic pentatonic scale along with the Bb since it gives a very strong mid eastern scale quality. reminds of some stuff played by John Kaizan Neptune, in general I would likely leave the lower Eb note plugged& use the Gb. I also found the lowest Eb hole to be a slight reach for my little finger, though still pretty easy to play. I was a flute maker for over 20 years& am very qualified to add the extra hole. It was clearly one of his prized possessions. This is the longest bamboo fishing pole I have ever seen. This item put together is almost 18 feet long. It has an older Pflueger reel on the pole. There are no loops for the line on it. I have scoured this pole for a makers mark or name. I can not find one anywhere. I took it to a local fly rod shop and was told that it was very high quality and a rare piece. The store owner told me that it may actually be a vintage Orvis but he could not verify. A Very Strong semi-parabolic all purpose rod for big water. It was designed for heavier Eastcoast saltwater fish like stripers. Atlantic salmon and bonefish and as such, at a quadrate 8wt, it has plenty of reserve power to handle those powerful fish. The writing on the rod reads" Bill Rosgen's Special Winsted Conn" In white ink in typical Bill Edwards script writing. Nice medium brown tone cane. Gold-brown wraps with black tipping of the guide, ferrules and then signature wraps. The butt section is finished in Antique Gold silk and Black tipping silk butt wraps and signature wraps. This ... morerod is made in the standard 3/2 length of 8'6. And 32" sections, all of the same length. The sections all are finished as per Edwards standard quadrate style with his typical hand drawn ferrules and hardware. The downlocking reelseat is in very good shape. Made from what appears to be black plastic spacer and bright aluminum reelseat hardware, with no bulging or melting of the black plastic spacer or threads. The cork handle is in good shape with slight ridging from use. The butt section has a typical Edwards grip check made of black bakelite that nicely transitions from the round of the cork handle to the square of the rod section. One tip has been reglued and over-varnished in a nine or so inch stretch just above the male ferrule. Other than that, I've taken enough high resolution pictures that you can inspect every inch of the rod yourself. I don't see any other issues other than occasional light areas where the impregnated material didn't evenly penetrate. The model number of GA 7030 means that this rod is 7'0" in length and the blank was designed to weigh 3.0 ounces before being finished with hardware. Handle, reelseat, etc. This rod is designed for a 4wt line and is a very responsive flyrod, especially for western waters that Goodwin Granger designed it to be used. The unique standard Granger nickle silver reelseat is bright, a bit tarnished in spots, but moves very smoothly quite well. The nickle silver reelseat has Made by Wright& McGill Rod Co. Denver. Colo. U.S.A. 1938. Pat. No. 2,114,107" embossed on it. Since it is a vintage collectible. I have not cleaned it in any way, nor revarnished any spots, it is left as I received it. Time to start on the storage shed again. This is an old Ma Jong Set made of Bone and Bamboo. There are 146 Bone& Bamboo Tiles which includes 6 blanks. A tiny box with two Die also Bone and 126 Bone Counting Sticks which consists of 36-1's, 10-5's, 37-2's, and 33-10's. The tiles are all dove tailed(see photo) to combine the bone and bamboo. They are all packed in a wood box which is marked"Ma Jong, Made in China" All the tiles and counting sticks are in excellant condition. The box does show some wear. ANTIQUE DOVETAILED BONE & BAMBOO MAH JONG SET 1920's WOOD CASE 148 TILES
Vintage Mah Jong Dove Tailed Bone Tile& Bamboo Set in the original box. 148 tiles total. This includes 8 blanks(jokers) The box itself appears to be black stained wood. It is a very simple case with two gold toned tarnishing handles at the top and five matching pull out drawers. The case also has a slide on cover that goes over the drawers. This cover has an Asian symbol in green on it. The case has 5 drawers. 148 tiles, 8 of which are blank. The tiles that are not blank are engraved. Also included are a large amount of bone stick counters. Some are not entirely straight, They are not uniform and have different thicknesses. Most have dots that didn't quite stay in their engravings. I've taken a photo of one of the sticks to show what it is I'm attempting to describe. There are 82 of these black color bone sticks. There are ... more35 sticks on the red side. Again, the red sticks are also not uniform, different thickness and slightly different colors. Also included is a small box with three tiny dice, a small container with 4 white and green"coins" and a small die that appears to be bakelite. I believe this particular die was added after the fact. Please expect to wipe down/clean these pieces. They are old and therefore are dusty. I am not an expert on Mah Jong sets. There are many things I do not know. That being said. This is a traditional Chinese boxed wooden set with a stacked 5 drawer box with sliding front cover. The 140 tiles are bamboo and bone dovetail. Also included are betting sticks. Dice and 8 blank tiles. There are 2 missing tacks that hold down the corner decor and there is a crack in the wood on the bottom. Along with other imperfections. Bumps and bruises.
