This rod has been what I call preserved, with the nice aged look of the original silks under the original varnish. All varnish was carefully scraped off the bamboo, however, retained over all the original silks to give the look of an original aged rod, while getting 2 fresh dips in varnish to ensure it is water tight. One snake guide at the bottom of the mid was replaced and rewrapped with new silk, however, tastefully matched against the original silk look. There is one scratch on the reel seat and one tip is down 2.5 inches(pictured) Includes original cloth sack in perfect condition, and the original aluminum tube in very very good condition, with a decent label, you don't see many tubes in this good of shape. The rod casts a 6 weight DT modern fly line beautifully. All sections are equal length(except the one tip) straight as an arrow, reel seat functions well, ferrules are great and pop with no clicking during casting. If you want a Granger to fish this is it. All the wraps look great and are an original aged wrap. The cork looks good, though suffers from some soiling and use over time, it could be cleaned if that is the look you want, varnish looks great. Completely restored and preserved. This is one heck of a great looking rod and it is ready to fish as is. This rod. For those that don't know is positioned as an upper mid-grade rod and used bamboo that was not quite good enough for the Registered and Deluxe but better than the Special, and way better than the Victory or Champion. The 9" length in my opinion is great for the fisherman out there, rather than the collectors. Let the collectors keep paying way to much for the shorter rods that don't have the length to high stick or mend the way a fisherman needs to catch fish. The shorter rods, may cast a little better, but I would be willing to bet these longer rods catch more fish, since

Beautiful Bamboo flyrod Tip Case made by Winchester arms for their flyrods.
This is a Winchester Tip Case that came with a 9' Winchester flyrod that I traded off years ago. This tip case is just beautiful. Flame kissed cane in great shape. Could be used for any flyrod tips. Brass cap on end. No disappointments here. Case is overall 37" long. The pictures don't do it justice. P.S. I have had over 10 emails on the subject of marked or unmarked tip cases from Winchester. Consensus is that Winchester Marked the cases from 1920-1924 but during their period of financial difficulty 1925-1930 not all cases were marked. This case is not marked.

Wright McGill Bamboo Fly Rod 8040 (Marshall Fields)
Marshall Fields One Striper made by Wright McGill. This rod is a Granger Victory 8040 made for Marshall Fields in Chicago. As you can see. One tip is missing. The bag and tube are not original. The mid ferrule moves 1/16 of an inch when the rod is disassembled. It appears someone tried to fill a couple dings in the cork. I tried to show them in the photo. The rod is better then the description sounds but I'd rather understate it and avoid a disappointed buyer. Please ask if you have questions.

Details about the Ferrule size designations, all the rod models, the various Heddon construction periods, the measurements of the ferrules so you can determine which ferrule size you have. It also has a ton of information about the Heddon Trade Rods. Those are rods made by Heddon for other companies such as Shakespeare, Lyon& Coulson, Edward K. Tryon, Marvin Hedge, Folsom Arms to name just a few. I've found several trade rods at bargain prices because the sellers didn't know their rod was a Heddon rod. Some trade ... morerods are extremely scarce such as a 7.5' 3/2 Shakespeare rod that I bought that was made by Heddon. I've only seen one other example in the 15 years I've been collecting bamboo rods. This book will quickly pay for itself if you are a Heddon collector. Gently Pre-Owned. This Rod and Reel Combo was given to my fiance by a local"old timer" while he was working on a job at this guys house. They are both vintage. The bamboo rod is marked"T.K.W. and although I did research this, I didn't find anything about it. I would think given that, it would make this a rather rare and unique rod. The reel however, is a Heddon 320. It is a Daisy Model with the parts having been made in JAPAN and assembled in the USA, and does come with line on it, and it is in working condition. This rod/reel combo comes as shown, there is no carrying case/bag for it. There are, however, what I would suppose are extra rod(top) pieces, as there are 5 pieces to this all together. It's really a beautiful rod, and is in overall very good vintage/antique condition, the only real noticeable is shown in the ... morephotos. Exceptional vintage bamboo flyrod by H.L. Leonard. The rod is an 8 foot. 3 piece, with 2 tips. The finish of the rod is honey color and is a catskill style small 4 1/4" cigar handle with 3 1/4" butternut reel seat, nickle-plated hardware, dark red original silk wraps with English reverse twist snake guides. The furrel tip has the patent dates of Sept.3, 1873 and below that Oct. 26, 1875. All pieces are equal in length, the finish is in excellent condition and wraps are in same condition. The metal case which is the Leonard comes with the rod, but the screw cap is missing. The rod bag is not original but works. The 2 female furrel plugs are intact and included. There is no serial number, which dates this rod prior to 1964 but is probably much older after researching similiar rods and contacting the company. 1930's Jay Harvey 9' bamboo flyrod and South Bend #57 9' HCH bamboo flyrod
This is what I call a bamboo grab bag. There is a historically significant Jay Harvey bamboo rod that was rebuilt by C.B.Carpenter from Golden Colorado. If you recall. He later became the head of the Bamboo Flyrod department for Granger. It is 9' 3/2 in a 1920's carrier. The mid section in a couple of inches short. But it is collectible. The second rod is a South Bend#57 9' bamboo flyrod with the original stickers still on it. All pieces are full length. Should be excellent to fish with as soon as you recieve it. Comes in a antique wooden rod carrier circa 1920. I am simply cleaning out the closet. They will be packed well. If not as described, send it back for a refund. Hello and welcome to my auction. Today for your interest is this fabulous vintage bird cage! This has an Asian/ Chinese flair; please see pics to appreciate! Has 4 porcelain water/ food cups inside and exterior what look to be hand carved details including dragon heads around bottom and 2 other carvings at sides. Also has a wooden stick perch inside. This also comes with an O perch as seen in pictures. The cage is in overall nice shape for its age but does have some condition issues which include: 1 of the wood loops at top is broken and will need to be glued- At door one of the wooden spindles is broken near top- Also above in this area is a broken spindle on curved area- At top'flower' wooden detail is missing a quarter- 1 of the side pieces slit on the O ring is broken but this still fits securely in cage- Cage has 2 clips to hold ... moresecure; I think there should be 3 therefore 1 missing clip The cage is also dusty/ dirty and would benefit from a cleaning. Bottom of cage also has a handle; please see last pic. Cage has 3 ball feet which hold it nicely should you want to sit it rather than hang. Including hook the cage measures approximately 17" tall. VINTAGE RARE CREEK/STREAM ONE WEIGHT SPLIT BAMBOO FLY FISHING ROD This auction is for an awesome refinished creek/small stream two piece 6’ 2” split bamboo fly rod. There are no manufacturer identifications. The bottom section measures 40” and the tip section is 34” I lawn casted it with an Orvis CFO loaded with one weight forward fly line and it cast like a dream. The 8 ¾: cork handle and cork reel seat have some wear. I repaired a chip near the bottom with wood filler. It is fully functional and mounts a fly reel nicely(see picture) There are four snake eye guides on the tip section and a stripper guide on the bottom section. The rod fits together perfectly when assembled and is straight. I meticulously stripped the old varnish. Refinished with four coats of spar varnish and completed it with high quality wood rubbing compounds. The ... moreferrules have been buffed and polished. The light brownstone colored bamboo cane and varnish finish are classic. This magic wand would be perfect for feeder creek brook trout fishing in tight brushy conditions. All sections proper length- 36 1/2" What is so awesome is the rare original cardboard shipping tube with the buyer's address label with Heddon's return address- intact and very nice! Also with original aluminum tube and sock as well. This is truly a complete collectable package! The rod is in near mint condition- all sections perfectly straight. Most likely re-varnished at some point but apparently unused since! All original Heddon gold guides. Wraps and ferrules- in perfect shape. Montague Somers Point Vintage Bamboo Split Boat Rod- Fishing- 2 Piece 67.5" Pre-owned In Good Condition This fishing rod has been previously used and shows some light signs of wear. The bamboo is in good condition.it is still flexible and does not have any cracks. There is a crack to the metal connect on the upper half of the rod. The connection is still securely attached. But has the crack shown in picture#7. The metal guide at the end of the rod has seen the finish wear off- picture#9. There are various nicks/paint transfer on different sections of the rod. Some of the nicks have removed small sections of clear coat. These are just minor cosmetic imperfections and do not affect the integrity of the rod. The Montague sticker is missing a small section. Fresh from a local estate. This is a great vintage split bamboo and amazing turned hardwood grip rod( no makers mark) with a beautiful vintage Penn 149 reel. The reel works great, and is in good condition save some light pitting, which I think could mostly be be cleaned off( it's not very deep) The rod is in equally good shape, although a ferrell has come off(but is included) The 2 piece rod measures a full 6.5 feet long when put together and the reel is 4.5 inches in diameter,and roughly 4 inches wide. R.W. Lancaster Bighorn River Bamboo Rod in 4pc configuration with two tips and two tip-mids(6 pcs total) 7 1/2' 5/6 weight rod that is 4 pc. So breaks down easily for travel and hiking, it is a taper based on the Young Martha Marie, and casts a 5 or 6 weight line with authority. Flexes down to the grip. New in shipiping container as it came from Bob, it was purchased as a backup to a brace of similar Lancaster Rods, and it has never been fished(lawn cast and wiggled indoors a few times) it is as new in tube. Wrapping and box from Bob, with original 6 pocket bag, grips to help separate the section and wax for the ferrules. I have not seen many of these 4 pc rods, and very few recently; Bob's 2/2 rods are 850.00 for the 2/2 in 2012, and I believe the 4 pc option is/was at least 100 extra, as well as the extra for the extra mid-tip, ... moremaking this rod over 1000 when purchased and more now. Mint and beautifully finished, this has to be among the best bargains in premium cane rods out there, from a man who has been building rods for fishing a long time. It is particularly desirable in the 4 pc format for travel; I have used the other ones I have extensively, and am only selling this one since I was too hasty when I purchased this backup rod. Corrosion and fit secure and tightly. The guide wraps are light brown and are in perfect condition. The rod has a cigar shaped cork grip. Antique umbrella stand bamboo with cast iron drip plate- World War 2 era - nice
Antique bamboo umbrella stand with cast iron drip plate. This is the real thing not a reproduction. Probably from the 1940's-1950's. Cou ld be older. That is my best guess. Bamboo has the tortoise shell look with wooden turned finials and chains on each side. It is not in perfect condition and needs a good cleaning. Very usable and decorative for that special little spot. Stands about 32" tall and the triangle shape is about 14" on each side. Weight is about 9 pounds. Most of it being the cast iron dri p plate. RARE J. L. (John) Weir & Son Bamboo Fly Fishing Rod; 8' for a 6 Weight Line
J. L. John) Weir& Son varnished 8' for a 6 weight bamboo fly rod from the late sixties/early seventies in excellent condition. Labeled M801.22.8. J. L. Weir& Son were a small Western rodmaker located in Los Gatos CA. Their output was small and seldom do these rods find their way to market. Typical of Western fly rods of the day designed to fish larger waters. This rod has a'crisper' action than similar rods from some of the prominent Eastern makers like C. F. Charles) Orvis, H. L. Hiram) Leonard, James(Jim) Payne, Everett Garrison and others. 9 snake guides with an agate'stripper' J. L. Weir& Son rods had a couple of unique and distinctive features; Wood reel seat filler finished in oil rather than varnish. This made it very easy to'freshen' as needed without refinishing the entire reel seat. The Sterling ... moresilver hook-keeper is actually embedded in the front of the cork grip. This spares the windings and bamboo from any damage and also provides a'resting' place for your dry fly without crushing the hackles against the bamboo as with more traditional hook-keepers. The rod bag is heavy denim to protect this fine rod. A gorgeous rod with very light wheat colored shafts, brown silk guide wraps tipped black at grip, ferrules, tips(1 tip has two wraps of black and the other only 1, this allows differentiating so tips can be switched from time-to-time) The varnish is perfect. The ferrules are nickel silver. I believe the butt cap, reel seat hardware and grip-check are aluminum. The butt-cap is labeled WEIR& SON. The original labeled(label has some scratches and is covered with archival quality transparency to prevent any further scratching) aluminum tube and brown denim rod sock are included.
