The CWU-36/P, made in this particular case by Creative Apparel under a contract dated 1997, of 100% Aramid fire resistant fabric, in good used condition, ready to be worn again. Made by Alpha Industries under a contract dated 1976. Just after the end of the Vietnam War, this is a light weight, fire resistant flight or bomber jacket, or flyer's jacket, made of 100% Aramid. It is a light weight garment, no quilting, very simple flight jacket, not good for stiff cold weather. It has a chin strap that works with Velcro strips instead of buttons. B-1 Bomber "A" Flight Patch from the 46th Bomb Squadron
You are bidding on one(1) A" Flight patch from the old 46th Bomb Squadron. When the 46th was refitted with the B-1 Bomber in the late 1980's. The squadron's main body consisted of 4 flights of personnel: A-flight, B-flight, C-flight, and D-flight. This is the A-flight shoulder patch. Note the Viking helmet at the bottom signifying the squadron's status as"the Warriors of the North. Much further north and they would have been in Canada. The inside joke about this patch was in calling the A-flight personnel the"Re-Drivers" The print along the top edge was supposed to say the"Red Rivers Finest. celebrating the Red River that flows through(and often floods) the Grand Forks area. Up for auction is my BIO: Colonel Hajo Herrmann(Deceased) WWII 1935-1945 Luftwaffe Bomber Pilot credited with being the innovator of the Night Fighters. Ace Pilot 8 Air Victories. He is credited with sinking 12 ships totaling 70,000 tons in 320 Missions 50 of those were Night Missions. Flew during the Battle of Britain, Balkans Campaign, Poland, Norway, Sicily, Malta, Greece. Recipient of three Knights Crosses for actions on: October 13th, 1940, August 2nd, 1943, January 23rd, 1944. Herrmann was captured by the Russians after the war and was held prisoner for 10 years before returning to Germany in 1955.Commander of 7.KG 4 and II.KG 30 flew with KG 4, KG 30, JG 300. He was married to German soprano signer Ingeborg Reichelt best known for singing works of Johann Sebastian Bach. Herrmann was one of the Luftwaffe's most innovative air tacticians ... moreduring World War II. Beginning his military career as an infantry officer. He was commissioned in the newly formed Luftwaffe in 1935. From 1936 until 1937, he was a bomber pilot in the Condor Legion. During the Spanish civil war, Herrmann joined KG-4, and wrote several well received tactical reports. When World War II began, he flew Heinkel He-111s in Poland and Norway. By 1940, he was Commander of the 7th Staffel of KG-4, and led many attacks on England during the Battle of Britain. In February 1941, his group went to Sicily, where it flew against Malta and Greece. In one such attack, Herrmann dropped a single bomb on an ammunition ship, the SS Clan Fraser; the resulting explosion sank 11 ships and made the Greek port of Piraeus unusable for many months. In early 1942, he was Commander of III.KG 30, attacking Arctic convoys from Norway, including the attacks on PQ-17. July 1942 saw him assigned to the general staff in Germany, where he became a close confidant of Hermann Göring. This Sea Fury belonged either to 805 or 808 Squadron, both of which were based aboard HMAS Sydney. These are actual photographs.
