And though the labeling calls it a six-weight, it also handles a 5-weight beautifully) The tube still carries the original Gart Brothers price tag, which shows that it sold for $39.95 in 1971, so my minimum bid is considerably less than what the outfit sold for over 40 years ago. I would have called this rod mint, except that it has two mark-downs: first(and worst) the hinge on the tube cap has given up the ghost(see photos) secondly, the rod has a little light soiling on the cork and a few scratches in the finish, which shows it was fished with at least a few times. Otherwise, it is in as-new condition. Please study the photos, and let them be your guide to how it looks: what you see is what you get. The base of the handle is a soft vinyl material and is in very good condition. The rest of the handle is a dark maroon colored hard plastic and is also in very good condition. All the eyelets are in great condition and lined up perfectly straight. The rod is ... morenot mint, as there are some small buffs and blems on the shaft. Up for auction we have an extremely nice Fenwick 8'6" 2pc 7-8-9wt vintage Feralite fiberglass fly rod. This model was bought years ago by a friend who liked to think he would fish one day but never did. I have listed the rod as used but other than waving it in the living room. It was never out of the original tube! I believe this rod was purchased in the late 60's. You can see by the cork that the rod was never fished.The reel seat shows no sign of ever having a reel on it and the guides and wraps are immaculate! This rod has literally been standing in a corner of a heated garage in the original aluminum tube and bag, unused for almost 50 years! This is an unusual find and a real collectors item. The rod has the Fenwick Eagle emblem but no serial number. It still has the Woodstream sticker on the handle. The rod is an unusual 8’ 3” in length. Weighs 3 ½ oz and is AFTMA rated for 7 wt line. It is in mint condition with only very minor rash and a little wear on the cork handle. Wraps and eyes appear to be original, straight and intact. Comes with original sock, that shows some wear but is definitely functional and original aluminum tube with both the end bumpers. Overall the rod is in excellent condition and does not appear to have been used very much at all.
