I was all over it- and this rod was easy to transport- right in my luggage- for the flight up there. Let me tell you- it fishes like a dream! Very sweet light action- I was able to snag 4 of the Dollys- all about 1-2 pounds. Holy smokes- what fun that was. The rod performed better than I expected. Really nice to catch a fish on. More on the rod- as I said- it appeared unused when I got it several years ago. I bought second hand- and it has been sitting ever since- as I never had a chance to get away. I made darn sure to take extra special care of it while I was using it. As it is in such sweet condition. I would love to call it mint condition, but can not as i know I used it. This is a vintage Phillipson Master fiberglass fly rod. It is model G-MF86B. 8 ½’ for 8 weight fly line. This rod is in excellent condition as the picture show. The blank is clean and shiny. The guide wraps are just about perfect. No threads unraveling. The cork handle shows soiling and the reel seat has some nicks and scratches. ORVIS GLASS SUPERFINE 3 WT 7' 3pc fiberglass fly rod
Orvis Superfine Glass 3 wt 7' long in excellent condition. Reel NOT included) if you have to describe the Orvis Glass 3 wt in one word it would be sexy. this is a full flexing modern glass rod that will handle 3wt or 4wt line. The rod is slow or full flexing compared to your graphite rods but as far as fiberglass goes it is a moderate action with some power reserved in the butt section to allow for longer casts and more power to fight larger fish. The tip is very flexible without being a noodle. Direction and distance is easy to control and you can cast this rod with about 12' of line out. fiberglass rods in general are wonderful dry fly rods and this one is a Great dry fly rod. I have landed15" stock rainbows with this rod with out any issues. The tip flex of this rod almost dares you to try to break 7x tippet. setting a hook ... moreis a simple snap of the wrist and the tip responds to absorb all the shock. I am told I have a decent cast and I have no issues getting line out 40' while standing up to my wader belt in cold water, I can get about 50' out on the lawn but the sweet spot imo is around 25'35' at that range it is a tun of fun to try to hit the ripples on a rising trout. this rod makes a 35' cast effortless and fun. I always kept the rod clean and in the cotton rod sock and fiberglass rod tube. The cork is excellent and the raps and reel seat are in excellent condition also, the only thing that makes this not"New Condition" is the cork has gotten darker due to use but other than that all excellent. the reel is not included but you can see that a Battenkill III balances this rod very well. intact it is rather perfect. I have owned and used a lot of fiberglass rods and I can tell you this one is a perfect combination of full flex with a pinch of power to help with that extra distance you might need on a medium size stream. Wife and I just spent a day on the White river in Arkansas where most guys are using 5wt and larger and I never felt i was being short changed on the

SFFP224 these rods were made in Denver CO. by the famous wright& McGill co. for eagle claw rods back in the late 50s and early 60s when quality matter this is beautiful honey colored blanks with blue wraps and gold foil accents and blue up locking reel seat reverse half wells cork grip. Brass hook keeper, hard chrome stripper guide and 6 blued snake guides and hard chrome tip top and blue wrap and instead of the brass ferrels the 7wt. I have listed this one has a fiberglass insert like the fenwick ferralights making it lighter and increasing the action a really gorgeous rod all wraps are tight and ferrels pop a great rod with great fiberglass action theres nothing this rod wouldn't be good for and the closes you will get to the action of bamboo.

This is an unmarked fiberglass live fiber fly rod I believe to be a WRIGHT McGill probably one of there earliest rods it was with several other wright McGill rods from an estate collection and has the signature down locking copper colored reel seat that wright McGill uses another reason it must be one of there first rods is the small stripper guide and nickel spigotted ferrels with 6 black snake guides and black tip top this rod is in perfect condition especially considering its age the black and red wraps are in perfect condition the Ferrells give the distinctive tight pop this rod even not marked cast a forward 6wt and 5wt great long cast with tight loops and the live fiber rod has the sensitive action there known for this also seems to be a fullflex action I hope to get to put a fish on this one before its gone I can just imagine the fight ... moreit would give this is defanatley a lost gem or a custom made never the less its a dream come true for the fiberglass inthusiest a real steal or lucky find.

You cant go wrong with a DENCO by WRIGHT McGill for a 1960s fiberglass rod this looks perfect not a rub or scratch not even on the reel seat I would bet its never been fished a reel barn find it has a bronze colored uplocking reel seat and perfect cigar cork grip a darker brown blank with excellent tight dark olive green wraps a hard chrome stripper and black snake guides the first guide is chrome as it looks if its been professionally replaced but with out close observation you would never know the ferrells are tight with the distinctive pop and chrome tip top its a great 8 1/2ft. 7wt. midflex denco by the wright McGill corporation and lawn cast a wt forward 7 and 6wt line perfect with tight loops you wont be disappointed and be hard to find a better one. For sale is a Shakespeare fiberglass fly rod. It is a model FY 12-R and is rated as a 7/8 weight. It is supposed to be 8' in length but 4" of the tip has been broken off. But has been repaired with a new tip. See the photo. It has a stainless steel reel seat and a rubber handle. It is very light weight. It is a good entry level fly rod for someone just learning the fly fishing technique. It was purchased with a Shakespeare Ultra 2528 reel with line attached. This is a very nice and near pristine Walton Powell model DF70 from the Chico CA shop. He usually labeled his rods with 3 line wts and this one is a 5-6-7 but it is really a 5wt. Original fully labeled tube and bag though they are a bit long(he did that occasionally too. Used what he had at the time) It's a really nice casting rod from one of Americas best know makers. If you like glass this is a good one.

They are top of the line Garcia 5 Star design and build. This particular rod is in excellent condition save slight soiling of the grip and reel seat. The taper was designed to throw AFTMA 5/6 lines. I prefer it with a WF5. Real nice full flexing medium action. In my hand anyway. The rod weighs a mere 1.4 oz. These don't show up for sale very often. Vintage Horrocks Ibbotson Mohawk Berkshire No. 1427. 7' Fiberglass, 2 piece Fly Rod with cloth rod sock and aluminum tube. The cork grip shows some wear including several small chips and the mid grip section appears slightly modified with two sliding rings and an indentation was sanded for a higher reel mount position. The fiberglass, windings, ferrules, and lower reel seat are all in excellent original condition. Rod tube shows some exterior wear but is serviceable. A nice small stream rod.

Vintage Heddon Superlative #880 9' 3pc B/C wt fiberglass fly rod w/sack & tube
This is a showroom condition early 1950's vintage Heddon Pal Superlative#880 fiberglass flyrod. It is an 9' 3 piece rod rated as a B or C weight(7wt) The Superlative was the top of the line fiberglass rod offered by Heddon when they moved away from Bamboo in 1953 or so. And has many of the characteristics of the#135 Expert Bamboo rods of an earlier era. The yellow marbled fiberglass blank is spectacular, with gold and black silk windings and gold plated hook keeper, snake guides, and tip top, as well as reel seat. All are in excellent condition, as is the cork handle, which is extremely comfortable when casting. The ferrules are in great shape and pop when disassembled. Finish on the rod is shiny and like new. Clearly, this rod was well cared for and occasionally fished. It comes with the original brown with a light brown rod sock ... moreand the Heddon bronze aluminum tube with label and both bottom and non-original plastic top endcaps. I took this rod up to the lake cabin and fished it from the pier a couple of times with a WF7FT line and it threw beautiful big loops single and double hauling. Out to 70' plus on the water. It's ready to add to a collection or fished by someone who appreciates one of the best early fiberglass rods from over 60 years ago. My wife says this rod is the guy's equivalent of fine jewelry. As it appears they broke one tip and ordered a replacement. I am including the broken tip, which is approximately 6” shorter than the other tip, but has been professionally repaired. This rod is in very good. Original condition with snake guides, tight windings, metal ferrules and a cork handle that is intact. The color in the handle indicates use over the years. This is a vintage Fenwick FF858-5 fiberglass fly rod. 8'6" 8wt, 5 pc. Casts best, in my opinion, with a DT7 line. It has been expertly modified to accommodate a 6th piece- a cork handle for two-handed casting. The rod is in excellent condition with only minor scratches on the reel seat. This is an amazing custom made vintage fly rod. It has what appears to be agate in the bottom two eyes. It has all of the information about the rod written on it by the maker- see photos. It says 9' It has a detachable fighting butt too it says. The construction on this rod is unbelievable. It has a bit of dried mud on butt appears to have seen almost no use. It appears to say 8 wt but that is hard for me to read. I am not a fly rod expert so please ask any questions. The cork grip shows use, as does the reel seat, but are in very good condition, indicating that this rod was fished. The yellow blank. Which is like new condition, tells me this rod was a mid 1960's model and can be expected to be a powerful 6wt on the water. This rod would be an excellent addition to your arsenal. SCOTT VINTAGE POWER - PLY fiberglass fly rod Made in San Fransisco 7ft 4wt. 5pc.
A rare vintage fiberglass fly rod made by Scott fly rods while still located in San Fransisco. This rod is in good condition. All of the wraps are tight. And none of the guides are bent. The cork is soiled and could be sanded or cleaned, but I thought I would leave that up to the discretion of the new owner. The only obvious flaw on this rod is the missing end cap on the butt section. The reel seat is securely glued and functions perfectly, the cap is missing however(shown in photo) Scott can repair this, but at the cost of a new real seat. Again, I would leave this up to the individual as it will obviously be a different aesthetic. A great rod, that although classic, is ready to fish!

This rod was a garage sale find and has been reconditioned. Details: The rod is reddish-brown in color. Rust color wraps, new Alps stripping guide, new snake guides and tip top, new vinyl winding winding check, new Fenwick style cork grip and new retro-style black aluminum reel seat. The rod is 8' and during the refinish the metal ferrule wasreplaced with a black fiberglass spigot. The rod casts 5 or 6wt lines and has that full-flex. Classic, vintage fiberglass action. No D 23516) It has a total of six guides. A hook keeper and a tip eye. The tip eye needs to be repaired or replaced. The cork handle and reel seat are very good condition with signs of use. The rod blanks are also in very good condition. But the clear coating in some areas has a mottled appearance. The D serial number dates this as an early Fenwick. The rod weighs 4 7/8 oz. and is rated for 1/8– 3/8 oz. lines. All decals look very good. The Feralite ferrule fits well. The rod comes with a 3” diameter plastic Rod Caddy that extends from 37 to 60 inches. I will ship this rod in the caddy with cardboard rolled around it. Vintage South Bend 9' Fiberglass Fly Rod With Canvas Case
This is a 9' fiberglass fly rod I believe made by South Bend( the label is missing however the rod looks like other South Bends I have seen) The eyes on the butt section have been rewrapped as can be seen in photos. The eyes on the tip section appear to be originally wrapped however have been re varnished. I do not believe the canvas case was originally for this rod. The cork handle does show some wear.
