Original condition and is free of cracks, chips, damage to cork, wraps or guides. The only signs of use are a light surface rub to paint on bottom of reel seat, right above the end. Everything else looks like new. Rod tube is designed for a 9 1/2' rod. The rod sock is Fenwick but it just a bit big and was probably for a 9' spin rod. Both tube and sock work well in protecting the rod. If one wanted to travel with the rod I would recommend a soft filler. Serial number is L74182. Slightly elongated wells-style grip with dual sliding anodized aluminum bands that can hold a fly reel near the bottom of the grip or a spinning reel at mid-grip. This is a 5 piece fiberglass Fenwick Woodsman fly rod that is 8.5 feet long for 5 or 6 weight line. Each section is 22 inches long. This showed up in the back of my tackle closet and has been there for decades. Many of us really like the action of fiberglass compared to the new materials but unfortunately fiberglass is not seen as special compared to all of the space age stuff. No tube comes with rod.

VTG ST CROIX IMPERIAL 7081XXL FIBERGLASS 5' 1.5OZ. ULTRALIGHT SPINNING FLY ROD
Vintage St. Croix Imperial Fiberglass 1-piece 5ft. ultralight spinning rod. At 1.50oz. it is lighter than any of the Fenwick glass ultralights except for the 4.5ft. model 140 and only some of those. Watching ultralights on EBay over the years. I have seen no other 5 footers get down to this weight. It may well be the lightest ever made. Condition is near-mint. The only issue I can find is slight scratching of the St Croix Imperial logo(see photos) and one of the slip-rings. Other decals are 100% The blank is pristine and actual measured length is 60" 4 Aetna Foulproofs and the fly-rod style tiptop and their wraps are all original and in like-new condition. The butt plate has not a scratch on it. The cork is clean and still fairly soft. The action is smooth and approaches full-flex like a good glass fly rod. The 8" grip can accommodate ... morea fly reel. This is no gimmick. I put a Mastery Trout DT4F fly line through it and lawn cast it. Small stream ranges of 20-35 feet were easy and smooth and the accuracy at 25-30 feet really got my attention. I can see why Fenwick FF535's command such high prices. This is truly an exceptional vintage glass rod ready to fish this season! I ship rods ONLY in ABS or PVC to which I add a glued-in bottom and a slip-on top to make a functional permanent case. Here is a glass-ferruled. Tip over butt Cortland Pro Crest fiberglass fly rod. I really don't know when these were produced(I have a 8' footer for sale too) Roughly, 60's and most likely these are from the 70's. Maybe someone can clarify. This is a great 7' 6" 5/6 wt. and I've read(and experienced) that is has the same action as the Fenwick FF75. At half the going vintage price. Metal reel seat is in great shape. This is no doubt a fun, classic glass rod for medium streams. Cork is in good shape. It has been filled, and preserved. It has plenty of life. Sorry no tube or sock. I ship in heavy duty fabric rolls made of thick cardboard.

Here is a Fenwick Ferulite FF79. A venerable dry fly rod. It's been called"The best dry fly taper Fenwick ever made, by pave no less of the Fiberglass Flyrodders wiki and forum. It comes with sock and original rod tube with labeling intact. The serial number is I50813. The rod in my opinion is a true 6wt for larger streams and rivers. Feels too overkill on my local small/medium stream. No doubt this is a wonderful example of classic Fenwick fiberglass tapers. Details labeled on the rod are as: FF79 8' 3 1/2oz. AFTMA Fly Line No 6. Fiberglass Fly Rod Action Flex 6' 6" 5-6wt
I don't have much on this rod. I know it is an Action Flex model. Possibly built by Action Glass. IT IS SOLID FIBERGLASS. Yes it is heavier than any 6' 6" fly rod you've ever handled, but it's fishable and fun in it's own way. The bottle green reel seat is nice, and the cork is NEW, as I replaced it in duplicating the size and shape of the original cork. There are plenty of line guides as I replaced them all and added one. This is a novelty rod, which someone will enjoy. A Pflueger Medalist balances it nicely. I don't have the rod's weight. As I said, it is heavier than most, so why not try a solid fiberglass fly rod. Vintage 1950's Heddon Pal #130 Standard Fiberglass Spinning/Fly Rod - 7' 2pc
I've been going thru my collection of fiberglass spinning rods and flyrods. And this excellent example of the 1950's Heddon spinning rods is ready to move on. The rod is 7' and by today's standards, is light to medium action. The cork and red butt cap are in excellent condition, as are the two rings that can be adjusted and secure the reel. The windings are in excellent condition as well, as are the guides, hook keeper, and winding check. All appear to be original. I have a similar Heddon Pal Standard 8' flyrod, where the wraps are dull, but this one shines. The ferrels fit together nicely. The only issue is the Heddon label is partially intact, as you can see in the pictures. This in no way effects the performance of this classic rod. For those of you that like the spinning/fly combos, this would likely work for that ... moreas well, as the rings are movable and a fly reel could be easily mounted. I believe that this rod original sold for around $25-30 in the 1950s. And except for the label, is in nearly new condition. It would be a great addition to a collection, or better yet, to chase some bass and bluegills on the lake or river. 50th Anniversary of this rod. Manufactured in 1963-64 as the"D" indicates in the serial# This rod is nice. It does look like the very top was broken off and repaired. Made it a couple inches shorter. Wright and McGill Champion Fiberglass Fly Rod 8 1/2' 7 weight
Here is a dirty but structurally sound Wright and McGill Champion. It needs a good cleaning. And I would rewrap the entire rod before fishing it. The reel seat is tarnished and dirty, but it still works(although it is very tough to turn and needs to be lubricated) This is definitely a good candidate for a refinish, or possibly worth sacrificing to get the reel seat. Not really fishable as is, as one guide(as pictured) seems ready to pop out its wrap. I found that neither was perfectly straight, the SP-541 not seriously so, but the SP-681 more problematic(see photo of blank next to metal yardstick) The actual measured lengths are 56.5" for the FS-541 and 67.5" for the FS-681. Two Sections, Straight, 6'5” long Vintage Fiberglass Fly Rod 6'5” long. 2 sections I was given this fly rod by an old WWII veteran who did a lot of fly fishing in the Gold Country foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains near Murphy in California. Based on that. I think it is at least 40-50 years old. The butt cap is missing. So the rod sticks out of the cork grip by 3/8” The length of the rod with the two sections fitted together as indicated by the corrosion marks on the ferrule and including the end of the rod sticking out of the butt is 77" The cork grip is 11” long not including the 3/8" section of rod sticking out the butt end. The butt section rod extends 28” from the beginning of the butt to the end of the ferrule. The tip section is 39” long from tiptop to the end of ferrule. ... moreThe two ferrules do not fit easily together probably due to surface corrosion. The rod varies in diameter from 3/8” at the butt to 3/16” at the tip. It is a smooth. Round rod. The rod is painted a tan with brown strips to make it look like bamboo. The decal of the brand has worn off, although there are tiny red and gold colored scraps left. The windings are all intact. The upper guides are shiny while the tiptop and the lowest guide are mildly corroded. The cork handle has been shaved to better fit a reel and the butt end of the disintegrating cork has been wrapped with black electrical tape. For sale is my Steffen Bros. 7/8wt. 8'6" 4pc. fly rod. I have listed the rod as"used" but it is barely used. It shows very little signs of use. I built the rod. It features YLI silk thread wraps(chestnut) with white tipping. The reel seat is anodized aluminum from Joel Lemke. It is down locking. The rod has snake brand universal guides with a saltwater safe REC recoil stripping guide. The rod comes with a new REC rod tube in moss green with black hardware(as shown in the photos) and a new REC khaki rod sock(as shown in the photos) The Abel Reel is NOT for sale. I simply used it to demonstrate the down locking seat. The down locking seat greatly assists in decreasing the swing weight of this rod as it allows a lighter reel to balance the rod. Up for auction is a LL Bean Double L fiberglass fly rod. It is a 8' 1/2" 8wt in a 2 PC construction. The rod is in very good functional shape. The only blemishes are oxidation on some of the guides and the rod tip spiral wrap is missing a little. However the rod tip wrap is perfectly functional and the rod is ready to fish. The rod tube is not original but is a nice fenwick aluminum tube. I believe this rod to be Phillipson made. Fine for a collection or to fish on the stream. note to those watching my items* If your waiting to see if I will relist my items at a lower cost. You will lose a chance to own the item. I have however ask several people that know a lot about these rare Wanigas rods and I am going by what they have told me. Up for auction is a"Wanigas Au Sable" 8' fly rod in great shape. I believe it to be made from the late 70's to early 80's. I've been told it was made by one of Trout Unlimited founders Art Neumann. From Saginaw Michigan. I have also been told that it has spigot ferrules and that it was made with phillipson shafts. This Rod is from the beginning of the hollow fiberglass era. How many fiberglass rods have you seen with 2 tips. This was a Conolon Blank as all hollow Fiberglass Rods From the 50.S were. The Rod was marked Simon Streamaster which is a name I did not recognize but think it came from Oakland Simon Hardware store but not positive about that. The Rod is overall in very Good Condition and casts beautiful. I do see a little glue on cork at base of we're pole meets handle but that's the only bad I see. Overall a great rod with History behind it and it is a heck of a quality fly rod to fish with. Actually hate to see it go but can't keep everything I like. If I did I would never sell anything. It is two- piece. 7 ft. long, with cork handle, aluminum knurl- locking fly reel seat, sliding rings on cork reel seat for spinning reel, hook keeper, metal ferrule, and gold colored guides. Vintage SPORT KING Fiberglass Fly Rod 8-1/2 Ft - Completely Original
This is a classic all-original Sport King 8-1/2 ft Fiberglass fly rod. Made in the 1950's, and marketed by Montgomery Wards. Sport King fiberglass rods were supplied to Wards by both Montague and Horrocks-Ibbotson, and the rod blank on this rod has many of the characteristics of the classic H-I rods, such as the Mohawk model. These early fiberglass rods were made with durable fiberglass blanks that exhibited a classic medium full action. Such vintage rods are sought after both as collectibles and as well-performing present day fishing tools, and are preferred by many fly fishermen for their classic feel and action. The rod's 8-1/2 ft. length allows it to cast well with a DT 7. Or a WF 7 or 8 line, depending on the length of casts and the angler's preference. The flex of the rod is medium full, for a strong but progressive rod ... moreaction. It can deliver smooth presentations at med-short range and at long distance on medium and large rivers and lakes, and has the power to deliver a larger fly, and handle some wind. Snake guides and tip top are original blackened hardened steel for good wear resistance. And the stripping guide is chromed steel. Reel seat is beautiful black anodized aluminum which complements the rich tones of the fiberglass blank. It has chromed reel hood bands and aluminum locking knurled nut and operates smoothly and securely. Wraps are original orange nylon, tipped in black. Decal with Sport King logo is in very good condition. Unusually high quality machined aluminum ferrules are precisely sized, fit together smoothly, and make a"pop" sound when rod is pulled apart. Classic Full Wells cork handle is smooth and solid, generally clean, and has a very minimum of chipping. Rod has seen some careful use.
