Vintage FISHING Hand Line Outer Banks NC PRIMITIVE Hand Carved/Made Orig Wooden
Primitive wooden"hand-line" for fishing. Came from the Outer Banks of North Carolina-the area around Nag's Head and Kitty Hawk. Hand carved/whittled with original green cotton line. String is faded unevenly. Measures about 11 inches long overall. Paddle is 6.5 inches long. Unclear if paddle had a finish on it originally and it has been worn. Or if the dark places are water staining. Stick handle inserts into the paddle winder and is secured at top with a washer. Is missing its securing pin at the top. Rotates freely. I unwound much of the line and found the line knotted to a small stick at about the 32.5 foot mark. Measuring from the end of the line where the hook would be attached. From the stick to the attachment to the winder(through the hole in the winder) is another 26.5 feet of line. Wonder if this line ever caught a bluefish ... morewhen they were running? Stick is a bit larger than a toothpick or wooden matchstick. Significance unclear. Age unclear. Very interesting piece. U.S. bidders only. Please. Shipping includes Delivery Confirmation. VINTAGE HARDYS FLY FISHING LINE DRYER AND RARE VINTAGE BRASS FLY LINE DRYER
You are bidding on firstly a Hardy of Alnwick fly line dryer. It is in perfect working order and a collectable for any Hardy lover and avid fly fisherman. The Hardy name is stamped as shown in the photo's in two seperate place. The inscription closest to the wheel read' MADE BY HARDY BROS LTD. ALNWICK ENGLAND' and the inscription at the lower end of the handle' HARDY'S REGo, UNIVERSAL FITTING. The second Fly line dryer has no makers mark on it that I could find. The only markings on it read'patent applied for' and I think this is a rather rare find. Although it's all blackened, I can see from the wear on it that the handle is made of wood, some of the parts are brass underneath the paint and further towards the wheel another kind of metal. The little rotating handle is brass with a little wooden knob, not disimilar ... moreto the old knobs found on early reels. I would say the blackened effect is the original finish but deep down I think this would look amazing stripped back to its base colours, exposing the wood, brass etc. I've started these two items at a low price and always happy to answer any questions. I will ship worldwide, but please understand that the postage cost will differ from that quoted dependant on destination and means. Vintage H. F. Cox Fishing Worm Box, Grand Rapids Bait Reel Rod Lure Line Tackle
This is an old H.F. Cox worm box that is from Grand Rapids Michigan. There is a paper label that is on top of the box that reads"Cox Line" H. F. Cox Company" Grand Rapids Michigan" The"Cox Line" is barely visible but was able get a clear picture by angling the camera with the light. The box is in perfect working order. with 4 rakes to bring up the worms when the side wheel is turned. There are two belt clips on the back to run a belt strap through. There is some paint missing, my guess is 40% missing. The lid is flap spring activated, you can see in picture 2 and 3, the 2 flaps where the hinge is. when you open the lid, it pops back open. and you flip it and it automatically shuts till you flip back. This is a clever device made with American enginuity. I have never seen another one like this. There are a couple ... morelittle ding from use. I did clean with WD-40. For sale at a buy it now fixed price is this vintage fly fishing reel. It is a medium size(5/6/7) reel and it has no makers mark on it. However. A helpful ebay helped identify it as an Ocean City Wanita from 1935. It has a red bakelite handle. It has a click drag. The reel is loaded with vintage waxy and stiff line that I am pretty sure is silk line.
