Very unusual reel design manufactured with patent pending in Los Angeles for a short while in the 50's. Reel uses a sophisticated drag system with pressure brought to bear by turning the handle a quarter turn back against a running fish. This Orvis Battenkill Fly Reel is circa 1969-1970 and was made by J.W. Young of England. The model is the very scarce"Flyweight" and it measures 2 3/4" in diam. with a 5/8" spool openning. Spool is polished aluminum and reel can be used either left or right hand wind. This reel looks to be unused and paint is over 99% The hub has a tiny nick the sizes of a pinhead. Very nice old Heddon Winona 105 fly reel. Everything works great including smooth rotaition of the wheel. Has both wooden handles, clean thumb bar for drag and pretty good chrome as the pictures will show. The color is a kind of aqua blue/green. NOTE: I listed as repair in the title because the line eye is glued on and is not the correct piece and could be replaced or left as is for display. Ross Gunnison G1 Fly Reel POST 1998 ---Excellent, Smooth---
Ross post 1998 Gunnison 1 Fly reel 4 weight gray fly line. Not sure of the make, looks new. This reel is smooth. Some paint loss on the rim of the reel. I take excellent care of my equipment. Reel has always been stored with the drag in the loosest position. Left hand retrieve but can be changed to right very easily. Includes neoprene case that is pictured. This is a great reel.
