The"PAT.APPL'D/FOR. marks would indicate that this is an early version of a classic automatic reel. This reel is in very good working order. The natural aluminum finish is also very good. With surface scratches which should be expected in a reel of this age. The diameter of the reel is 3 1/4" width of spool 3/8" There are the remnants of a very old enameled fly line near the core of the spool. This is an excellent working collectible.

Hardy 3 5/8 Inch Marquis No. 8/9 Multiplier Fly Reel Boxed
Up for auction is this older(circa 1980) Hardy Bros 3 5/8 inch# 8/9 multiplier fly reel in decent condition throughout retaining approximately 98% of the grey finish on the frame. The spare frame is also in decent condition other than some rubs here and there(see pics) Engraved on the back of the reel is“Marquis# 8/9” and“Made By Hardy Bros Ltd England” The multiplying unit has a quick drum release latch and a single ebonite handle mounted to it. It has a short smooth alloy foot and the drag control knob is located on the back of the reel. Included is the original Hardy box. Vinyl padded case and a small leaflet pertaining to the multiplier unit. The spool contains backing line and all you have to do is attach your fly line to it. Reel is 3 3/16 inches in diameter by 1 1/16 inches wide. Cast of a newly developed magnesium alloy the reel is extremely light weighing a mere 2.2 ounches- more than 30% lighter than comparible sized Hardy reels using traditional cast aluminum alloys. Most suitable for 2- 5 weight lines/rods. Up for bid is one vintage PORTAGE'SENTRIE' Nickel Plated Trout/Fly Reel with Clicker. Drag Control, 4:1 Geared Multiplier, and 40 yard line capacity. The PORTAGE was manufactured by Pflueger. The reel has nickel plating over brass. The plating is in excellent condition. The reel appears new. Never used, there are no marks even on the foot that would indicate use(see photos) There is a clicker controlled by a slide button on the back plate and drag control through a second slide button on the rear plate. It is in excellent working condition. The handle appears to have a ivory colored plastic knob. Up for bid is one vintage UNION HARDWARE Co. Nickel Plated Trout/Fly Reel with Clicker. Drag Control, hinged front cover, and 3.5:1 Geared Multiplier. The reel face cover is inscribed with"SAMSON. UNION HARDWARE CO. TORRINGTON, CONN. The reel has nickel plating over brass. The plating is in excellent condition. There is a clicker controlled by a slide button on the rear plate. The front cover has a patented hinge on the bottom that allows the front cover to be opened by releasing a slide button catch on the top of the front cover. The patent was granted in 1906. Pat. No. 832,291. It is in excellent working condition. This reel is in new condition and shows no signs of ever being mounted on a pole or having line on it. As shown this is a HUMPHREYS DENVER MODEL 3A fly reel. This is in great shape this is stainless steel has some rub marks on it. I am not familiar with fly reels but this has line in it and reels it fine by pushing a thumb button. This does not have any kind of anti reverse button but I am guessing that is not used on these type of reels. Everything seems good reels in good just some rub marks and light scratches are about all there is to tell.

This is an essentially brand new Okuma SLV 2/3 fly reel. I mounted it& used it on two ice fishing outings. Comes with the box and all paperwork as if it was new. It's in new condition with no scratches or chips. Works perfectly. It really is a nice. Smooth reel. Inline just wasn't for me. I prefer a spinning reel when ice fishing.
