Scott G 844/5 Fly Rod 5 pc 4 weight Classic Graphite Fly Rod 8'4" Fly Rod This auction is for the pictured beautiful and classic Scott G 844/5 in great condition. This rod is considered by many to be one of the finest graphite fly rods of all time. The numbers G 844/5 along with some other series/serial type numbers are written onto the rod just above the cork handle. All this writing is in a maroon type red. I have been told this rod is the best travel and backpacking rod ever created and can easily handle small to medium-large rivers. It has what some consider a medium action. Although this rod is used. It is still in great shape. The cork grip is slightly soiled. But the reel seat hardware and blank are in good condition with some light signs of use. Wojnicki 6 weight Fly Rod (Rare)
Mario build this fiberglass 8.8' 3.7 oz. 6 weight rod for me in the early 1990's from a gorgeous blank in his CA shop. He made bamboo rods for Scott then and has since moved well beyond into rod-star legend. I owned 8 Scott graphite rods at the time and if I'm not mistaken this may have been one of their original blanks. I thought it to be a medium action ideal for wet presentation and a modest and quite decent dry rod. The rod has been used perhaps twice. Certainly no more which explains the lightly soiled grips. The rest of the rod is pristine, as in NEW. The sleeve and case are period vintage Scott just prior to their move to Berkeley and then after Harry sold, to Telluride, CO. Vintage Fly Fishing Rod/Fenwick FF85 8-1/2' 3 3/4 OZ w/tube Super condition
Offering a super Fenwick Feralite. Model FF85, 8-1/2 ft, 2 pc, 3-3/4 oz. fiberglass fly rod with the original aluminum carrying case. The cloth case is gone. The rod is in exceptional shape. The eyes have no damage and the wrapping is in great shape. The cork handle has never had a hook in it and is damage free. The feral attaches well and holds nicely. The action is live. The line rating tag is still on the rod but I couldn't upload enough pictures to show everything. My guess is made in very late 50's or early 60's. Defininely before mid 1963 as that was the year the 5 digit zip code came out and Fenwick's address doesn't have that.only Long Beach 4, California. Considering that, this rod is at least 50 years old but looks like it was manufactured last week except the line rating tag is slightly loose and needs regluing ... moreon the top edge. That's not bad for a 50 year old rod. There is a dent or two in the aluminum case as can be seen in picture 11. The serviceability is in no way impaired. Feralite had not yet been patented when this rod was made as it says patent pending behind the word Feralite. Serial number is C 16723. Exceptional piece but I am downsizing and can't tramp the streams as I once did so here's a nice opportunity to own agreat rod. Low start. 3 nice fly rods. LM Dickson 3 pc. bamboo rod. I believe it's a 6-7 wt. The name Amos has been lightly carved into the cork handle. I have been lazy about it. And haven't sanded it out. I do that for you if you want. The graphite rod is a Reliance 8" 6-7 wt. The Ted Williams rod is an 8"6" 8 wt. fiberglass rod. Phillipson Paragon fly rod 8 1/2' - 5 bamboo 3 section very nice original cond.
Today I purchased this Phillipson Paragon fly rod at an estate sale. I don't know really anything about it other than I have read that they fish very well. And I know they were made in the fifties. This is a 3 section 8 1/2' 5 HDH. It also has what looks like a small b with an 8 in front of the length designation. It is in very good overall condition for the age, and does not appear to have any real damage or problems other than very minor scuffs and scratches. It was obviously owned by someone who liked to use it, and it has been well used, but probably has a lot of life left in it. The ferrules seem tight, all the guides are still tightly wrapped, and I do not see any cracks or repairs. No signs of rust or corrosion anywhere. Just needs a little cleaning. I do see a couple of very light scratches on the black side of the reel but hardly noticeable. The Stripping Guides and been replaced with the Correct Size Etna Guide. George Reid/ Bill Young'Collaboration Built. As it was customarily done by Orvis and other Well Known Rod Makers. The Collaborative build became the industry standard in that fly rods could be built faster in which to meet large demands while allowing Two Sets of Very Trained Eyes Judge the Work to be released to a Very Fussy Clientele. On September 11. 1967 Master Rod Builders George Reid and Bill Young completed the rod now offered. Looking very much like it did some 45 plus years ago, the Superlight has been ... morethe victim of a car window. Originally 6' 2 Piece Ultra Light for those of us that like to go'Light lining' and fish anywhere from 1 1/2 Pound Test up to 3 1/2 pound test. In Most Cases, Broken Tip Rods are pretty much worthless and don't fish properly. The Fact that this started out as a 6 Foot Superlight and has is no approximately 5' 6" Vs 6' has actually only taken the rod to the next level of Ultra Light Rods. I took it out and put it up against my Mint Superlight with 4 Pound Test, Both Rods using an Orvis 50A with Daiwa Steez 4 pound test line. The Rod offered Felt Very Much Like. When you loose the tip on a Heavy or Heavier Rod well it's pretty much shot, but when you loose the tip on a Whippy Super Ultra Light, you end up with basically a Light Weight better suited for lines between 3 1/2 and 6 Weight. The Rod Cast without any weird feelings or action and while tossing lures to some of our Big Bass on the South West side of the lake where the Big Bass tend to back up into their holes and Waite for what ever the next Qualified Meal might be, I had no problem having them take my Tied Crayfish. The rod is ready to fish and after you take it for a spin and you do not agree with my assessment send it back. You are bidding on a nice Sage Xi2 1190-4 fly rod. The rod is a 9 foot 11 weight. Fly rod was owned by one of our customers who wanted a new rod. The rod is in good condition from tip top to fighting butt. The blank has some minor marks on the ferrules. From assembly, on it but none that will effect the service of this rod. The rod does have the foregrip. The anodized aluminum reel seat is in good condition and shines, has some minor marks on it.
