This listing is for: an antique fishing rod by South Bend. Model#359. 9 inch long bamboo rod with the original carrying case. This is a#59- 9 which is 9 feet in length. I am not an expert so I'm unable to tell w hat needs re pairs or to comment on the condition. I was told that the tip is missing from it so please use the photos to get the best information about this piece. All of the guides appear to be in tact and appear to me to be original. I am not expert enough to tell if the rod has been restored. But I don't think so. The cork grip is dirty and I did not try to clean it. It is missing some material but is still able to be held- might be a better display piece than a piece to use given i t's delicacy but I'll let you decide that. comes from a smoke Free Home. Vintage 1950s Complete White Bear Fly Rod Kit Old Antique Bamboo Fishing Trout
Normal 0 Vintage Early 1950s White Bear Fly Rod Box. Rods, Flies, Very Complete Items are in good used shape. I was told by the older gentleman that I got this from that it had never been used and that may be true. The only thing I can say is that the sliding plastic that goes over the flies and hooks etc has a break in the middle and is wavy from time. The box is good except for some light splintering on the bottom of one end. The hooks and flies look complete(the end where the swivels are looks a little light to me) There are 5 rod pieces. Here is a neat old vintage bamboo rod.One of two I am selling. I don't know bamboo rods. But the old gent I bought them from does. He said this maker was from the North West USA, and built rods during the 50's, and 60's. This rod is a 7 foot 3 piece, 2 tip rod, that is marked for a line of HEH which, I am told is a 5 weight. I cast it with a 4, and it seemed fine. The ferrule fit is snug. And the rod, is in really great shape. The handle is all cork, and the hardware is a silver color. The rod bag is original, but not sure if the tube is. I will ship this rod for $12.00, with insurance the the US lower 48, via priority mail.

Beautiful Winston BIIt 8' 6" 4 weight fly rod. Lightly used. Cork slightly discolored from minimal use. I've checked it over carefully and see no scratches on the rod. Cork very solid and in great shape. Many"Winstonites" on the Winston Forum have dubbed this rod the"Staff of Moses" and claim it's the single best rod in the entire Winston line-up. 2 1/2 oz, very light in hand. Soft action reminiscent of the old IM6 taper, but with the backbone of boron. Very smooth with that unmistakable"magic wand" Winston feel. Some of the dots you see in the pictures are dust due to the macro lens. Come with original sock and tube. Tube has minor nicks and one very small dent which was hard to photograph. Orvis 8' "trout" 6 weight fly rod 2 5/8 oz superfine graphite
Up for auction is a really nice 6 wt. Orvis fly rod. The model is an 8' trout" and weighs 2 5/8 ounces. It is a great rod for both beginners and experienced fly fishermen with a medium action. I found it easy to use and caught quite a few fish with it. The rod itself is in excellent condition with no scratches or blemishes. The case on the other hand has seen better days. It has a small dent. Numerous imperfections, and the stickers are scratched. All of this can be seen in the pics. All in all a really good rod. This is a great fly rod with a sad history. After five years in the USMC when I got out I decided to learn to fly fish. I'd saved up $$. I went into a mid-Willamette Valley{Oregon} sporting goods shop that I didn't know was going out of business. I wanted a good all-around fly rod. my first one. This was in April 1975 and as a general rule back then. Service people were not held in good regard. What happened was the owner sold me stock that was improper for my use. He sold me this wonderful 7 weight rod that cost $75 at the time and a level 6 weight line. He also sold me heavy leaders. Etc. This was a good example of why the Curtis{sic? creek and other basic fly rod books were written. Needless to say it didn't work out. I struggled and finally admitted defeat and bought a bamboo outfit from a good dealer. I was in the stream. ... moreSo to speak. Anyway, my wonderful rod has basically been in the closet since 1976. After his death in the 30's, Bill Phillipson took over the Granger Rod Co.and kept this rod in the inventory due to its renown as the quintessential"Western Dry Fly Rod" it was designed around a 5wt line but has been known to use 4, 5, and 6 wt lines due to its swelled butt and delicate tip which enhanced its versatility. This rod is in good shape, all sections full length, the ferrules are tight and seat correctly. The reelseat is in proper working order, moving freely. All Granger rods featured a unique tempering process with ammonia steam which gave the bamboo a distinct resiliency of action and a characteristic rich caramel color for which these rods are famous.
