Loomis. A native of Massachusetts, arrived in Frankfort, KY by 1809. In 1817, a Treat& Loomis partnership was formed and in 1819, among the early silversmiths advertising in Frankfort papers was the partnership of(Warham P. Loomis& Samuel) Ralph. In 1870. At age 79, Loomis is admitted and treated for insanity at Eastern State Hospital(ESH) in Lexington, Fayette, Kentucky where he eventually died. Even though the undulating handles on his sugar tongs are rather unusual. Loomis' ladle follows a fairly standard format for the period. This rare solid coin silver spoon. Made by this famous Southern Kentucky silversmith is 8 5/8 inches long, and weighs 2.4 oz. It is marked W.P. LOOMIS, and bears the monogram DMW on the handle.
