It appears the previous owner may( have broken 1/2" off the tip. the rod measures 8' 5.5" on my tape measure. That never affected how it cast for me. And was my go-to rod for a number of years. Rod in great user condition with slightly soiled but fully intact cork, tight reel seat and some dings to the hardware(mostly the butt of the reel seat) Many good years of fishing left in it. The rod and reel both show signs of use 95% from being put in or taken out of the boat. i bet i have not fished this rod more than 8 times, mostly for pike. the rod is a 7' med-heavy and has plenty of power to throw anything from heavy jigs to giant pike lures. the guides, guide wraps, blank and reel seat are in excellent shape, the 10" rear grip and 2.5" for grip are in good shape. i'm sure you know that it doesn't take long for a new grip to look used. the calcutta 250 has only been on this rod so the use on it is the same as the rod. the reel has minor scratches but functions perfectly. this combo. is outstanding for any fishing situations that require heavier lines, rod says 10-17lb. and is absolutely salt water worthy although this set up has never seen the salt. this rod and reel ... morecost over 500 when i bought them new and is a great deal for this price. thanks for looking
