CIRCA 1860's CIVIL WAR CDV COLONEL"BBG" GUSTAVUS LOOMIS by FREDRICKS Offered is a wet plate albumen Civil War Carte de Visite of(Brevet Brigadier General) Colonel Gustavus A. Loomis(September 23. 1789– March 5, 1872) CDV is by famed photographer Charles Fredricks with his mark on verso. Rare image of Loomis. Loomis was born in 1789 in Thetford. Vermont and graduated from West Point in 1811. He entered the army as a second lieutenant of artillery. After garrison duty in the harbor of New York in 1812-13, he was ordered to the Niagara frontier in 1813. He assisted in the capture of Fort George(May 27, 1813) and was made prisoner at Fort Niagara on December 19. In 1832-33. During the Black Hawk War, he was in garrison at Fort Crawford, Wisconsin, in 1837, in 1852-53 commanded the 5th Infantry Regiment at Fort Belknap, TX, in 1856-58 ... moreserved against the Seminole Indians, and in 1857-58 commanded the Department of Florida. During the Civil War he was superintendent of the general recruiting services. And in 1863 was retired from active service with rank of colonel of infantry. In 1865 he was appointed a brevet brigadier general for long and faithful service in the army. Loomis was recorded as one of the oldest individuals to actively serve in the Civil War. That you must be aware of. The largest fly guide needs replacing. The guide metal is cracked and the ceramic will fall out, and is barely in place. A tiny butterfly, and white, yellow, and green flowers has an overall size of 9” X 9/16” The fringe on the left and right sides is approximately 9/16” wide on both ends. The left angel is 1 3/4” wide and the right angel is 1 5/8” The piece has been folded down the center. The bookmark is made from a silk-like shiny smooth linen, with some cracking in the paint from age. The front and back of the bookmarks has some brown foxing spots from being stored in bible that was given to its owner in 1876(Lewis J. Up for Auction we have a Authentic& Original April 30th to June 30th 1862 Civil War Muster Roll which is Signed/ Autographed by at the time. Colonel 5th Infantry Gustavus Loomis. As you will read with his history below, he ended up being a Brigadier General. As other Collectors have looked this muster roll over. They believe this muster roll was completely filled out by Gustavus Loomis, other then some other soldiers signatures, as it was his job at the time an the penmanship with how certain letters are formed appear to be his hand writing. I can't guarantee that, since I don't have that in writing, however, I do Guarantee that he signed this Muster Roll as shown above. Ultra-lite fishing is a heck of a lot of fun. Techniques vary from small jigs or bait to micro-sized crankbaits and tiny spinners. Matching rods to such a variety of uses is a challenge. This is an awesome ultralight spinning rod from G.Loomis. The SR6010-2 rod is a moderate action ultralight that is 5' long. It is a two piece rod and is great for travel. It was used one time on a trip to my brother's pond. I borrowed his reel and liked it so much I bought my own and then never used the rod again! Finally clearing out my excess fishing gear. I don't think you can see them in the pictures but there are a couple of really faint and very light scratches or marks on the rod. There are no nicks on the guides and the rod looks new. This G. Loomis Rod Blank- HS 901.I put the Rod together as a Kit. After visiting the Gary Loomis booth at the Fred Hall Fishing Show in Long Beach, some Twenty to Twenty Five years ago. I bought the Blank and the component parts from the G. Loomis Co. I believe located in the State of Washington, at the time. The Rod is in mint condition.I used it a few times. I especially like the REAL WOOD Reel Seat. The Rod is rated to fish 10 to 20 lb. line with a conventional casting Reel. Wholesale& Retail Dealer In Groceries, Salt, Fish, Whisky, Foreign Liquors, Wine&c. featuring a whiskey barrel, on the reverse. At about 31.5 mm diameter, this is larger then most hard times tokens of the 1830s. It was struck off center with no rim at the bottom. The token has clear fields and virtually no wear, uniform brown color. Another like this was sold last week on eBay for $487, slabbed AU 55 BN. This one is nearly as nice, starting very low.
