Scientific Anglers SA System 9 Fly Reel; Hardy Marquis 10 - FlyMasters TradeUp
CONDITION USED– I would further grade this reel as in VERY GOOD condition. This reel has been used. But never abused. The reel is tight and smooth. It seems to work perfectly. There is no reel case or reel bag with this reel. DESCRIPTION The Scientific Anglers System reels were made by Hardy Brothers in England and the reel is so marked. It matches the Hardy Marquis 10 and the spools are interchangeable. This is size 9. I would use this reel for 8 or 9 weight lines. The frame of the reel is a dark tan color. The spool is a pewter color. The reel as currently set up is for Left Hand crank. It is easily switched. However. FlyMasters will be happy to switch the reel to right-hand cranking, if you wish. Just let us know prior to shipping. There is a drag adjustment on the reel. Some fly fishermen love the sound of a loud ratchet when a fish is ... morerunning up and down the stream. This reel. You are bidding on the very rare Hardy Super Silex Multiplier 3 1/4" Hiduminium/duralumin corrosion resistant alloy finish or casting fly reel in absolutely magnificent condition. The highlights of this very rare reel are: a perforated face plate. A full grooved brass foot frame mounted, ivorine trigger casting lever, half moon ivorine tension adjuster,right hand wind, ebonite crank handle, regulator screw on the rim, in a very rare pristine condition. We estimate the circa of this reel to be 1930-1939. They don't come any rarer. On the inside of the reel(picture# 12) are the initials T.A. being the Hardy employee who made this reel and the letters OK in a circle. The immaculate condition and age of this well preserved piece of Hardy/ English history makes this reel one of the most prestigious collectable reels Hardy made. Made by the famous tackle maker HARDY Bros of Alnwick, England, probably designed for Trout. This particular example folds to a very manageable size(18" 46cmc) and extends to maximum length(43" 119cms) Weighing less than 500g. The net can be unfolded and extended with a single one handed movement, so the spring loaded mechanism and slide extension are both in excellent working condition. The net is clearly marked with Hardy makers name on both the alloy handle and brass fitting at the net head. Together with the Royal Warrant and Prince of Wales feathers to the handle. The net still has it's original belt clip. Which is complete and in good condition. The netting is overall in reasonable condition. With just one or two ... moresmall holes. Rare Vintage Original HARDY "TAUPO" PERFECT Fishing Reel
A rare original vintage HARDY"TAUPO" PEEFECT in excellent working order. Winds nice and smooth with no play or spool movement. Full length ribbed unfiled brass foot, black ebonite handle, rim tension screw and brass line guide with normal wear to the enamel finish. The handle has had a slight knock sometime in the past and does sit slightly off square on the winding plate. This has caused a very fine small stress fracture on the inside of the winding plate"only" as per photo. Does not affect the operation of this rare reel whatsoever which was designed to catch the larger Brown& Rainbow trout that inhabit the rivers and lakes of New Zealand. The ribbed foot is stamped Pat. No. 272400. The foot and handle are sturdy and attached well. The reel revolves smoothly with nice action and appears to have been well maintained and kept protected in it's leather case(included) The housing. Which displays nice patina and age is stamped Pat. The rod is an extremely rare hand made split cane 8ft 9" Parabolic Trout Fly Fishing Rod Hand Built by Robert Kirk of Hampton Court, the rod is based on the design of the CC De France RRP £3295.00 which he made for Hardy when he was a master rod builder for them, he made rods for the likes of funny man Charlie Drake and Rolling Stones lead singer Mick Jagger! I would say it is in excellent condition for it's age and I have not attempted to clean off the vintage patina it is as original as you can get although I am sure it would look almost new with a wipe down, it is such a nice rod ... moreit will probably end up in a display cabinet again but would make anybody who uses it a very happy angler as you cant beat the feel of a true split cane rod. The reel is a vintage J.W.Young Condex that is approximately 60 years old and is in great condition as can be seen. It comes with the box which is in fairly good condition but not new as you would expect, the reel was commissioned for airbrushing after the September 9/11 attacks but the artist was not paid, I purchased it as it is a work of art and have never used it for fishing, it is fit for any display cabinet but like the rod still a usable item that will make an awesome gift for a relative or survivor and would also make an excellent investment for any fine fishing tackle collector, a much better bet than leaving your cash in the bank these days. Vintage HARDY Bros. Cane Fishing Rod REG 16.8.73. 9705 With Spare End/Bag. 12ft.
A superb three piece vintage Hardy Bros cane fishing rod. In its original Hardy bag and spare cane end. The rod measures approx 12ft in length when put together. Good condition overall, general signs of aging/wear, with some loss to varnish, odd strip missing around the cane. The handle/butt is mottled a shown in photo 4. The rod is difficult to put together in the middle, with the second piece not fitting without pushing up the brass part(shown in photos 8/9/10) The end of this brass part is wavy, and doesn't go flush together as you can see. These parts named stamped Hardy, so not sure why this is the case. So it does fit together, but no flush, and need adjustment. Some rusting to these clip/locks. Hardy Bros Makers Alnwick 9705 on the brass handle. A lovely old Hardy rod, sold as seen- photos are part of description. There may be ... moreother small things i have missed, but try to spot all i can. The spare cane end is split, but still held together. The bag has odd stains/marks.
