It has two large ebonite tapered handles and a brass ribbed foot which is attached to the frame with four brass screws. This reel also has an on/off casting/ratchet lever located on the side of the frame and a knurled drag adjustment knob located in the center of the drum. It is mechanically sound throughout and the drum spins very freely and true. Hardy’s name. Reel name and patent number 24245 is stamped on the back of the cage. In addition. There is an oval silver plate attached to the back of the reel with the inscription“Made For Manton and Co. Calcutta” Circa mid 1930’s making this reel approximately 75 years old! The ribbed brass foot is sturdy and well attached, as is the ebonite handle. The agate lined line guide has"Hardy's Pat" impressed in to it and shows minimal signs of wear, the rim regulator screw moves fine. The reel revolves well with a good smooth action and the two screw release latch works fine. There is no play in the reel when the spool is rocked. The reel has retained much of its' original finish. However, there is some loss around the handle as well as usual scratches and scuffs that you would expect from the years of use, but all adds to its' character and charm, so evocative of times and anglers past. We take great care to describe our items as clearly and honestly as possible. Including any faults or flaws that we may see. The Swift- lovely casting rod. And effortless to use. 13' 8, but will easy cast a#9 and you can use either spey or shooting head lines with this rod. The rod comes complete with a rod bag and tube. The rod, bag and tube have been very well looked after. There is no defects to the rod or missing parts. There are a couple of slight scratches on the rod just where the line has been coming through the eyes. But unless you were looking for them, you wouldnt see them.

Up for auction is an original watercolor framed and dated 1889 seascape/nautical painting attributed to well listed artist Thomas Bush Hardy(English 1842- 1849) The painting is of a Dutch Seascape with what looks like an old wooden Dutch Lighthouse overlooking a fleet of masted ships sailing out of a harbor into sea. It is quite unique under a framed oval matte with a period gold over gesso painted frame. The frame is in fair condition and can be displayed however. Would really do the painting justice to reframe as its quite a masterful piece. The painting is in very good shape with what looks like a minor area of wear on the left side as shown in the fourth picture(small streak, possibly from running moisture at one time) otherwise in excellent condition. It is signed on the lower left what looks like T.B. Hardy. This once held VSOP cognac- there was about half a bottle left but because it was opened. I disposed of it. The bottle is made of clear glass- very nice quality, and definitely of French origin. The bottle measures 11 in height and is quite heavy for its height, given the thickness of the glass, weighing 1.050 kilos(2.3 lbs) Despite the thickness of the glass, it is quite clear- very nice quality. ... moreThe bottle has an aluminum cap and the rooster head just fits over the cap. Hardy produces some very expensive cognacs as well as special edition cognacs. I havent been able to find another bottle like this, so it was probably produced in limited numbers. Here is a nice unusual English made fishing lure. It is a Jock Scott lure and is in good used condition with slight tarnish on the front metal lip and a small paint chip on the front near the head. Otherwise pretty good(see clear picture to decide before bidding) It is a Hardy of Alnwick stamped lure and is in the blue to silver colour and appr ox 2.5 inches total length.
