All of the rings are present and well attached, the top ring is agate lined and one side of the butt ring is whipped with copper wire for additional strength as are both sides of the joints. The rod measures approx. 9 foot 5 inches. including the handle) in overall length. The reel and butt fittings are in alloy and have retained much of there original painted finish. All of the agate lined rings are present and well attached and the joint has a"stud lockjoint" fitting. The rod appears to be straight and the close burgundy whipping is in good order, the whipping around the joint is strengthened with copper wire. Johnston& Murphy was regarded as the best maker of ready-made dress shoes for men. The comany dates fron1850 andhad outlets on the top shopping streets. Whitehouse and Hardy was an upscale men's clothing store on Fifth Avenue in New York City. Here is one reference to it I found on the Internet: Whitehouse and Hardy was a men’s haberdasher on Fifth Avenue. The place just screamed tasteful. Hushed tones and carpeted floors greeted you when you entered through the doors on the east side of Fifth Avenue(think Diesel and Fendi) at. I believe, 53rd or 54th Street. On offer and in generally good condition is this HARDY"THE TRIUMPH" bottom fishers centre-pin reel. 3 1/2" in diameter this is one of the limited range of coarse fishing reels made by Hardy Bros and dates circa1950. It has a full-length alloy foot cast as part of the back-plate. An optional ratchet and its original Bickerdyke line-guide. In all-original condition t his is quite a scarce model of reel.

On offer and in good condition is this interesting liitle reel which should catch the fancy of the HARDY collector s. The reel is 3 1/4" in diameter and is unmarked. It does however have the winding handle off an ALTEX. The nickle spool retaining screw from the LONGSTONE and the check mechanism from a HARDY-WALLIS. Who made it and where was it made? I don't know.But I do know that I saw another. Exactly the same, last year. Hardy parts- yes. Hardy factory? who knows? Reasonably well made although the foot is attached rather roughly.

Hardy Bros. 7’6” Marvel” bamboo trout rod. This is the famed“Marvel” series rod, and this one has two original tips. It comes with the all-cork reel seat and the abbreviated aluminum sliding band with the serial# H8451(1956) and the Hardy stamped aluminum butt cap. It has the agate stripping guide, and an agate guide on one of the tips. Both tips are full length, and they have their Hardy marked aluminum“stoppers” to keep the nickel silver ferrules clean) and the female ferrules have their nicely turned wooden ferrule plugs. I can’t explain why one tip has a Perfection top guide because both tips are the correct length. It may be that the second tip was refitted here in the US, but the original Hardy green cloth bag is a two-tip bag. I think I am correct that these Marvel series rods were made for the American market with actions that suited ... morestateside tastes, but I can report that the rod feels to my hand like it will match up with a 4 DTF line. The rod comes in the original Hardy Bros. stamped aluminum case. This rod has seen very limited use, it is in excellent, all original condition.

The only thing that kept me from grading this reel as excellent is that the prior owner ground some metal from the reel foot to make it fit his rod better. See further description below. The grinding job was done well and left only a few marks on the reel foot. However. We tested this reel by mounting it on several brands of modern rods. While the reel locked down properly on most rods, there were a couple of notable exceptions– Hardy& Orvis. Fabulous 1933 Hardy's Palakona Bamboo Fishing Rod, 9 Feet, Extra Tip - Very Nice
Welcome to Carousel Collectables memorabilia auctions. Title: Fabulous 1933 Hardy's Palakona Bamboo Fishing Rod. 9 Feet, Extra Tip- Very Nice, This rod came to us from someone who had inherited it so we don't know about its history. Unfortunately I am not a rod collector or expert so I will just describe it as best I can. Please email any questions. It is a Hardy's Palakona. Labeled"The Economy Rod" The serial number is E27316 which my research tells me means it is from 1933. The butt is marked"Made by Hardy Bros. Ltd. Alnwick, England" There are three sections, each about three feet long, plus a spare tip section. The keepers are still in the ends of each section. It is in excellent condition. All the ties are tight, the cork handle has some markings but it appears quite likely this rod has never fished. The ... moreties are red although they appear darker in the photos. There are some flakes or flaws(I'm not sure which) on the bamboo finish which I have photographed. It comes in what appears to be the original cloth bag which has several large rips and is virtually useless. The rod will be shipped in an aluminum rod holder which does not appear to be original(it is U.S. but is older and will provide good protection. It is not heavy but because of its size and shape. You are viewing my superb quality HARDY BROS of Alnwick fly reel. THE MARQUIS SALMON Number Two' size. This top quality 4" diameter fly reel is made at the HOUSE OF HARDY factory in Alnwick. England and is designed for use for salmon angling. The Marquis. Salmon number 2 reel is a reel that meets the modern demand for a rim control fly reel of large capacity to use with salmon fly rods. In addition to the adjustable click-check, the line spool has an exposed large braking surface which overlaps the frame to form a large braking surface for instant and sensitive finger control. The frame and spool are of special high duty aluminium machined to close tolerances, light yet strong with a handsome finish of gunmetal and silver aluminium. The check-work is easily and quickly adjusted to give varied strengths by means of a regulator button ... morefitted on the back of the reel frame. The nickel-silver plated line guard has also been designed to ensure speedy change-over to optional right or left hand wind. This reel has only had some use. As a result there is some minor paint wear to the back-plate(visible in photograph 2) The reel is mechanically perfect. Including the quick release spool mechanism and the tension regulator. As you can see in photographs 1 and 3, the inside of the reel and the spool itself remain in excellent condition. It is fitted with a HARDY light blue coloured DT-10-F(Double Taper 10 Weight Floating) fly line. This reel would be great to use now or to add to your collection. Selling a 1930's Hardy Perfect 3 3/4 Duplicated Mark II in fantastic condition. 90 percent of the leading is still on this reel the only wear is on the handle side from winding the reel. Super finish and original as the day it was made with brass foot unaltered. One of the tightest reels I have seen. If your looking for a really nice perfect without line guard this is a great reel.
