Here are two spools for a Mitchell 300 or 301 fishing reel(I believe they will also fit 400 or 401 Mitchell reels) One is a large spool and one is a small spool. These are some of the first made spools(I believe 1939-1947 era. Correct me if I am wrong) with the aluminum bottoms and the protruding aluminum push button releases on top of the spools. Drag knobs are also aluminum. One spool even comes equipped with the old metal spool container. There is no writing on the metal container or on either spool. Both spools show a little nick or rub, with the larger spool missing a little paint in one corner of the drag adjusting knob. The metal container is missing some paint in places as you can see. ABU Garcia Mitchell 300 reel w box, 300A and older 300 reel, NO RESERVE
Here are 3 ABU Garcia Mitchell reels for one bid. The one with the box is a model 300. It looks like it may be new or nearly new as it is in excellent condition. Only problem is the handle of it was broken but I had one off an old Mitchell and it was just about the same so this reel has a used handle. The second reel is a 300A and it is used but still in very good condition with some light wear. Still seems to work fine. Third reel is an older Mitchell reel that doesn't show a model number. Looks to be the same size as the other two 300 reels. This reel is missing the foot so is really just a parts reel. Still spins and does have the spool you can take off and put on the other 300A. I not sure of the version, 6th or 7th, the anti-reverse lever and the engraving of the number 300 is that of a 6th version. But serial number- B779782 is 7th version 1972) This reel has Made in France cast in the rear side of the reel. Included are 2 extra spools, one deep and one shallow with one spool case. The spool on the reel is a deep version. The reel is functional. It feels a little stiff probably because of old grease, I haven't used or lubed it in well over 20 years but it still seems to work fine. Up for bid is a GARCIA MITCHELL 300 SPINNING FISHING REEL. The number on the bottom of the reel foot is F( 81606. I am not sure of the first number following the letter F. But it looks to be a 1. The spool on this reel has a metal bottom rim and was made by Garcia in the 1958-1959 era. Mechanically, ALL FUNCTIONS work great as intended to the best that I can tell. Appearance shows some paint missing in a few places(mostly along the rims and edges) as you can see. On the side opposite the handle it says MADE IN FRANCE. On the top drag adjusting knob it says FRANCE with the letter H. On the underneath side of the spool it says France with the letter F. Pictures are part of the description. Mitchell 300 half bail spinning reel made in France#214041 Up for consideration is a vintage Mitchell half bail spinning reel. This is a early release. Third version, pre-300 spinning reel rmade in France. The reel has no serial numbers indicating that it is an early release reel made between 1946 and 1949. Mechanically the reel functions properly with all operations checked. Cosmetically the reel is not bad for 60 years old. The reel has decent paint and vivid graphics. The reel does have wear to bare metal and red primer on the edge of the foot, stem, edges of the bell and bottom of the case. Despite the cosmetic concerns, this is still a somewhat uncommon reel that will make a nice addition to a vintage tackle collection.
