Made In West Germany. This reel seems to work good. It turns good/smooth. On the shaft of the reel handle it has a turn nut, you can turn it to fold the handle for storage. At the base of the reel handle there is a small lever, you can move it up and the reel will only turn reverse, go to the middle position and the reel can turn either way and go to the lower and it will turn only forward. I think the handle can be mounted on the right side as well so it can be used right or left handed. As you look at the pictures you will notice there is mainly paint wear. I opened the bail and turned the reel handle and the bail closed like it should. A small part of the hinge is also missing, it closes and locks fine, The serial number looks like 9577480(1969/1970) T he paintwork is original with some paint losses on the foot. And bottom of the body some small losses on the edges of the spool holder, overall its in a very good used condition. The bail chrome is bright and with some signs of wear and use. The anti reverse works as it should. The winding arm works as it should. The handle is complete and in good condition. The reel comes with a deep spool fitted. Up for bids is nice Mitchell 300 in box. It is in excellent condition. Made in 1965 with serial#6175671. Very lightly used as seen by foot- not mounted on a rod very many times! Minor rub on housing by lube screw and on spool housing lower edge. But really cosmetically it is super. Bail strong and anti-reverse works perfect too. VTG 1949 MITCHELL 300 HALF BAIL REEL EXC IN BLUE BOX + SPARE SPOOL & CONTAINER
Up for bids is a(pre 300& Mitchell) Mitchell 300 Half-bail reel in Blue Box with extra spool and case. Rare to find is this condition- EXCELLENT. Serial#A17668 on foot indicates manufactured in 1949. Foot has minor paint loss on edge from mounting(tight fitting reel seat was was common on'20s-40s rods) a very. Very minor rub at lube screw and housing edge. Otherwise the reel is perfect. Bail functions perfect as does the anti-reverse. The bail itself has no corrosion! Most bails on these oldies have pitting with corrosion- not this one! The original round handle has no paint loss- best Half-bail handle I've ever seen. This reel was hardly used! Nice Blue Box. I believe to be original, with extra spool and case(both spools proper with this reel- aluminum backing, see pics) The spare spool still has the protective pad on top(1 lg. ... more1 sm. capacity) Bottom of box has standard splits/cracks/dents from reel/spool placement- but still in very good condition. Has the'Fair Traded' stamp on bottom. Top as good as they get with this age. Totally intact with minor stain spots. All the edges/corners without splits- although some wear with blue missing right along the edging. Tried to show different angles/sides of box. Please view pics and bid accordingly. According to the"Mitchell Reel Museum" Which I found on the Internet) if I read it right this reel dates back to the 1954 era. According to the serial number 430135 which is on the side plate of this reel. This Old Reel has some paint missing here& there including some finish on the bail but it still works great mechanically. The bail. The anti reverse, the front control drag all work very good& it reels good. It could use some cleaning.

The serial number on this one is 9029231. Circa 1969. Unused as far as I can tell and a little stiff to wind. The original grease gone hard no doubt. Good crisp bail return. Strong ticking anti reverse. The black paint work is unmarked. Anything shinning in the pictures is camera flash, see pictures for details. 2 vintage Garcia Mitchell spinning reels. Models 300 and 3800. 300 was made in France. And the 3800 was made in Japan. The 3800 is in a little better condition then the 300, and also works better. The 300 reels a little tight, but still works fine. The 3800 works good, but there is a little shimmy when reeling fast. Has this on the side of the box. A 450117. CONDITION; This item was purchased in 1968. The reel has never been used and is in brand new condition. It has been stored down in the basement all these years. The paper cover is warped from basement moisture and it has a slight smell. Probably if it was left in the sun for a few days it would go away. There is no mold on it. Just that weird smell. ... moreThe paper has a rip on one side that was taped together and on the other side a piece is missing. The plastic container has some scuffs all over it just from being moved around from place to place. The inside of the container has a red bleed spot on the yellow near the right lower side of the space that looks like a watermelon slice(where the handle rests) I was going to wash the container but thought maybe I should just leave it alone and let the new owner clean it if they wish. When you open the container the hinge on the back makes a loud noise but it is not broken. I think it is just off center or tight.
