Original Antique Watercolor Landscape Paintings Signed Newell 1923
I found these several months back at an estate sale and wanted to breathe fresh life into these 90+ year old watercolor paintings to preserve them for the next 90 years. The first several photos show the finished work. And the last several are representative of what I started with. As seen in the original photos. The dust protectors were tattered and the matting was markedly aged. As with almost all older pieces, the support layer behind the art was early cardboards, so there is some yellowing due to the use on non-acid free materials, but all in all the art was in great shape and the paper still very supple. I have replaced the hanging wire. Matting, backing board, and dust protector. Plus, placed a sheet of 140# artists acid free paper between the backing board and the art. The hanging hardware, frame, and glass are all original to the ... morepiece. On one of the paintings. The original frame shop"Young's Art& Gift Shop, Salina KS" was still in place, so I placed this in a small pouch on the reverse as seen in the picture. I matted both of these with a beveled soft beige color which I felt accented the art and original matching frames which show little wear. The landscape scene measures roughly 8 1/4" T. 14 1/2" W, with an image area of 4" T x 9 1/2" W. The portrait scene measures 16" T x 8 1/4" W, with an image area of 11 1/2" T x 5" W. Super Rare Vintage Custom Newell Blackie"225" Star Drag Fishing Reel(Auction does not include all 3 reels just the Rare 1 with arrow in pics) Reel is in Great Condition for it's age Cosmetic is 9.5 Mechanical 10 out of 10(Check Pictures) This reel has been customized from the bottom up and is very rare made by MacVicar. I have a few other models I will be parting with on Ebay also so keep your eyes open for them. What makes this reel so special is the Custom Size. Bigger then a 220 yet smaller then a 229(even though it has a 229 plate on it) The reel has a Custom Base on it as well as the Handle. Spool, Bars and Drag Engage Lever. I have never seen anything like these before! Some History on Newell Reels Carl's main business has never been in fishing products. His main business is injection molding. He started his fishing ... moreproduct line as a hobby since he use to be quite a fishing enthusiast. AFTERMARKET PRODUCTS FOR PENN REEL S Before Carl began to produce reels. He made aftermarket products for Penn reels. These included bushing cups as well as anodized aluminum bases, posts and spools. These were sold separately or in kits. In addition, he produced kits that included sideplates(with ss bearing cups) to fit the 500 jigmasters. This was called the 300-C. It came in'99 size as well as the 500(338) size. I believe you could also get them in kits for the 322 and 344 sizes. These after market parts made the Penn's lighter and stronger. BLACKIE SERIES(approximately mid 70's thru early 80's) These were the first reels manufactured by Carl. They're referred to as the blackie series since there were no stainless steel(ss) rings around the sideplates. The highlights of this series included: Aluminum reel bases. Spools, posts, star and handle. The spools had a metal hub for the metal clicker. The posts had holes bored into them to decrease weight. The handles were all solid aluminum. Michael Newell Original Collection 1900-1985" official estate stamp on the front. As seen in picture 3. I guarantee the authenticity of this drawing, as it was acquired directly from estate of Patricia Newell, the artist's daughter. It is a very well executed drawing. The paper is a little beat up around the edges as seen magnified in picture 4. But the image itself looks nice. There are no rips or repairs, minus the small little tears around the edges. Once matted and framed, no damage will be visible. The estate stamp is still very bold and complete. This print is from scarce book that is over100 years old. It is a lovely color plate. With a blank back and a tissue overlay. The artist is Peter Newell. A famous Victorian era illustrator. It depicts a whimsical scene of aman meeting a friendly shark-like sea creature on the beach. This particular chromolith is of exceptional quality because it used EIGHT colors. Which gives it a feeling of remarkable depth. The paper is heavy and toned cream with age. It has a blank back, meaning it was printed separately from the text for better quality and then tipped in or sewn into the book when it was bound. It would look charming framed—especially as decoration in a childs room! 1983 Fender Telecaster Star Owned Custom Made For Fred Newell Of TNN's Nashville Now! Here is a very special guitar that is going to really enjoy this piece of country music history. Fred Newell was recording all of the lead guitar tracks for the band ALABAMA. Alabama's lead guitarist. Jeff Cook, gave a Fender neck to Fred(you can still see the Fender logo and skunk stripe through the checking red, Nitro finish in the video that is playing at the bottom of this page) Fred took that neck to AJ Nelson, the"cabinet" maker(body) over at the Sho-Bud pedal steel guitar company and AJ built the rest of this infamous axe using the same DIXIE flag paint job that is featured on every single one of Alabama's album covers. AJ completed this guitar for Fred to play on the new show on The Nashville Network, TNN, called Nashville Now. ... moreThe show was the biggest country music show since Hee Haw. Here we have a used upgraded Penn Senator 114 H U.S.A. made fishing reel. It comes with the extra-wide Newell Black Marlin Conversion kit. The spools measures 3-1/2" Making it wider than a normal 114 HLW. It is referred to as a"Super 6/0" It is in good overall condition. Everything is in great shape with exception of the baseplate having some minor wear and the spool having the most. The spool has lost some of it's factory paint as seen in the last picture.
