The reel does have the original owners name expertly engraved on the front plate"Jim Caraway" The rod is a near"Mint" 8 foot 6 inch Orvis Impregnated Bamboo fly rod. The serial number on the tips and lower section is( 35772) I consulted Orvis about the rod and it is classified as a"Light Salmon" As noted this rod does not look as if it was ever fished. The rod comes in the original tube. Sleeve, and has the"Orvis" owners pamphlet attached to its sleeve. This historic combo is almost ready for the river, just needs backing, line, and fly. Beautiful Vintage ORVIS 150S Salt Water Spinning Reel S/N #1673 ~ Made in Italy
Vintage Orvis 150 S Light Saltwater/ Heavy Fresh water Spinning reel in Very Good Condition This reel appears to have been very well taken care of. Has some Line on it as you can see in the Photos. Was last strung with 150 yds of 30lb test line. This reel(and a few others) was acquired from an estate of a gentleman that spent his Winters in South Florida and Summers Here in Missouri. I was told he was an Avid Fisherman, from Ultralight Tackle for Trout, to Big Largemouth Bass, to Larger species of Salt Water fish as well. As shown, comes with an elastic foam adjustable Line Retainer. All appears to work fine as well. Anti Reverse, Bail Opens and closes easily with a sharp snap, spool oscillates up and down to evenly distribute the string back on to the spool. Plus additional spare spool. One of the true classic fly reels made in the past 30 years, these were and still remain the absolute favorite reels of many anglers, both for fishing and collecting.
