Everything lots to be in real nice used condition.no bad corrosion.I think he only fished freshwater from the looks& taste of it. There are a couple of spots where the old rubber bands on the spools disintegrated. But it seems to come off with a little fingernail action. I checked out the reels and they all function smoothly, the clickers go on-and-off, the bales work good on the spinners, they will all clean up very easily! A rare offering of a hummingbird(or dove) antique bridle rosette. It has the early mark on the back"PFLUEGERS PATENT US& CANADA" It is quite early. C1900-10. This type was not made for very long by the company. And one sees very few of them. A great collector's item. In the first photo. The rosette is shown on the RIGHT side. The brass back and loop are fine. No movement or damage. The glass crystal is also perfect. The bird sits or hovers over a pink flower and its leaves. The background was probably gold wash but now has a golden appearance though is mottled. This rosette is featured in Bridle Rosettes: Two Centuries of Equine Adornment. I will mail Priority in a box. Outstanding Pflueger No.1985 Capitol Surf Casting Reel w/Box, Tools, Tags, Line
This high quality vintage reel is in excellent condition. Lightly fished if at all. It has a star drag and a take apart knob on the head plate. The tail plate is Bakelite and has a strong on/off click button. The head plate is polished Diamolite on nickel silver. The rim of the head plate has a free spool push button. The mottled brown torpedo handle was introduced after 1939. The spool is loaded with a braided linen line in good condition, unknown test. You also get the original box in good condition, an instructional pamphlet, a hang tag for the Pflueger"New Capitol" reel, an envelope with extra washers and two Pflueger wrenches. This is the whole collectible package.

Pflueger Medalist 1496 1/2 Fly Reel w box & papers circa 1950
The 1496 1/2 model was replaced by the 1498 in about 1952. The 1498 had reinforcement plates added to the frame and the spool. This one from 1950 is in the right box and has the proper box insert 68B13. The next box insert 68B14 lists the 1498. This should be a nice reel for the collector with the small. Pan frame headed screws, the nickle silver low knob spool release button and surprisingly at least to me the bronze spindle bushing in the spool.

For sale is a used 1494 Pflueger Medalist Fly Reel. This reel has a diamolite line guard and sculpted pillars. A very desirable reel. The reel does have its issues though. The handle is cracking and has shrunk as well as the latch cover. The tensioner has come off as well. There is also a line burn in the line guard and frame. Perfect reel to upgrade with one-pfoot components. Sold as is.

Has some finish wear but still functions very well. The line dressings used on the old silk lines softened the gunmetal finishes on the spools. When the raw aluminum is polished with a gentle metal polish it looks great and will hold up for quite a few years before needing more polish. This reel has the natural nylon ratchet plate. The first injection molded plate used after Pflueger abondoned the hardened steel ratchet. It is not reversable like the black nylon plates that were introduced soon after. The box top is split at the corners but still in fair condition.
