Orchard Industries 55" Action-Rod steel rod w/ Bakelite handle Also includes Pflueger Nobby Reel This rare. Collectible metal fishing rod was made by Orchard Industries in Detroit, Michigan. It measures 55" in total length. The Bakelite handle can be disassembled from the rod and is Sage Green and Brown in color. Joseph Carlson applied for the patent# 1920966 in 1929 and it was approved in 1937 I believe that this rod was produced in the late 1930s to the mid 1940s when production switched from steel to"glass" due to the war Rod is in GREAT shape. The Pflueger reel is also in great shape. Butt of rod is stamped with the name Jack W. Mitchell. Reel is engraved with initials J.W.M. Hello I am not sure what is all here- my next door neighbor worked at the Pflueger plant in Akron. He gave me this box in the 60's and I never opened it until recently. Offered for sale is an old antique Pflueger Medalist 1494 1/2 DA fly reel that was made in the USA. I think this reel dates back into the 1970's BEAUTIFUL CONDITION- The reel is complete with fly line and backing. There was no line sticker on the reel but I think the fly line is a weight forward floating line- a guess is a 5 or 6 weight. Very limited use-the reel looks GREAT with very little paint loss anywhere- a couple paint nicks around the very edge. ANY WHITE STREAKS in any picture is camera glare. For sale is a rare. Early Pflueger Medalist No. 1496 Fly Fishing Reel. My research shows the reel to have been manufactured before 1940. When the 1496 line was dropped, probably in 1938 when the adjustable drag was added or in 1939, the last year this model was produced. The reel has the following features that identify its date of manufacture: The aluminum spool latch cover has the following stamped on it: Pflueger Medalist Trademark Made In USA- Model# stamped on the reel body- Bronze spindle- Round metal Diamolite line guard. Amber colored plastic handle. Aluminum spool latch cover. Knurled metal drag knob. Sculpted cross pillars. Riveted to body. Adjustable drag. The term Diamolite Line Guard is stamped in the 10:00 position of the frame on the handle side of the reel and the term Patent Pending is stamped at the 2:00 position on the ... moresame side. Cosmetically the reel shows its age with a lot of paint wear but no dents or scratches. The handle is completely intact. Mechanically the reel works well with no spool wobble. Here is a early wood crankbait. This is a old Pflueger Wizard Wiggler with Glass eyes. This old lure will even show better when some miracle juice is added. It has not been cleaned yet and will clean up pretty well, out of cleaner or I would polish it myself. The old pflueger wooden crankbait is in Rainbow color and good used condition. The vintage minnow bait is about 3" long. The old wood crankbait displays well. The old wood crankbaits has some tight age lines and they show up worse in pictures than they are, looks much better in hand. The old bait has glass eyes, the right eyes has no cracking and the left eye has a hair line through it but still a very nice rainbow trout lure. The antique lure book shows this to be made around 1925 but not sure and a unknown fishing lure date but sure the old lure collector will know the time frame ... moremade. The old wood lure has the split hooks that can easy be removes and the tail flasher metal fin is marked PFLUEGER WIZARD. The tail flasher is just over 1 inch long and there is a factory metal pin in the tail of the lure. The old pflueger cranbkait is in good used condition and a great old lure for the collector. This old minnow bait would be a great addition for the vintage lure collector and I would guess, it would be hard to find one in better condition. These old rubber minnows are getting hard to find and the color on this one is rainbow. The vintage minnow is marked Pflueger Trade Mark. With the bull dog and Made in U S A Pat Pend on the large metal round front. The front spinner blade is marked PFLUEGER RAZEM on one side and#3 on the other side. The old minnow body ONLY is about 3" long and overall about 5 3/4" from front to rear including the large rear single hook. Most of these old rubber minnows are damaged but this one only has a couple minor rubs on the right side. It's hard to find one of these old fishing lures in this good condition. The top fin, bottom find and tail fins are still on this old minnow. This spoon is large. The blade is 5. The total spoon length with hook and swivel is a whopping 9. The hook is a monster. Don't think I'd swim in any lake where you need this big of a hook.
