Pflueger Vintage 1965 Automatic Fly Casting Reel
Up for auction is this like new 1965 Pflueger Superex Model No. 755 Automatic Fly Reel. This reel looks new. It has the fly line already wound on, but it appears to have never been used. I wound the spring up and pulled the trigger and it works great, the line retreived very smoothly. It is lightweight{9 oz. and is designed for quick take-apart. It holds 32 yards of"C" line. Retrieves 24 yards of line per spring wind. Free stripping clutch allows more line to go out after spring is wound to capacity. Handsome aluminum anodized housing with stainless steel crossplate, line guide, and axle. Brass gears and stainless steel pinion. Lot of 3 Vintage Skeleton Fly Reels, Pflueger Progress, Skilton's, Armax
This auction is for a lot of 3 early. Raised pillar, skeleton fly reels from the early 1900's. These is part of a lot of fly fishing gear that I inherited from my father, a life-long fisherman. My father inherited a number of old fishing items as a young man in the late 1950's or early 1960's and he never threw anything fishing-related away. All 3 of these reels are fully functional, have no play in the rivets and I'm quite confident that they could be fished with if one were inclined to do so. Either way, they would be a great addition to a collection of antique fly-fishing gear. My father had a display case hanging on the wall of his"fishing room" and these reels were part of the display. First up is a Pflueger Progress reel. It appears to be made of brass with a chromed spool and black wood handle. The reel body ... moreappears to have been colored either black or brown. Some of this color has been worn away-see photos. The spool is 2.125" in diameter. It is marked on the top of the seat. PFLUEGER TRADE(some sort of symbol I can't make out) MARK PROGRESS MADE IN U.S.A. And the number"60" underneath the seat. It works great, has a nice clicking sound and spins freely when the ratcheting mechanism is disengaged. There is no line on this reel. Next up is a Skilton's reel. It also appears to be made of brass that had once been black. There is little evidence of the black color except around the counter weight and on the upper part of the reel seat. It has a black wooden handle. The only markings are on the back of the body. SKILTON'S FISHING TACKLE. T.S. A Vintage Flueger Pakron 3178 Single Action fishing Reel with box! Made in USA. Comes with the original box with the nice bulldog and the Pflueger trademark showing it has the Satin Diamolite finish with the adjustable drag system and the fully guaranteed on the label. This is a big reel used for big game trolling or saltwater fishing or both. Very common to see the used one with steel cable for down riggers or loaded with heavy line for Salmon or bottom fishing. A super great unused reel for a collection. The bottom of the box is solid with some rubbing on the inside from the reel itself. The reel has the great drag knob the Flueger was famous for on their salt water reels. On the top of the box there is written pencil Trolling Gear. Vintage old Pflueger Capitol No. 1985 surf casting s altwater fishing reel Made USA Selling as repair or parts. I will try to explain the reel to the best of my knowledge and provide pictures for your inspection. So please look at pictures carefully. Reel has not been dissemble or cleaned. No missing parts. Turns freely. Spool release lock works. When reeled it releases and the anti-reverse kicks in. Star drag works. The clicker is very stiff. The reel has some salt water oxidation but can be removed if soaked in vinegar and water for about an hour. Other than that reel is fair condition. It is worth saving. An as-is Auction.

This is a NO RESERVE auction for a vintage PFLUEGER:GOLDEN WEST No. 1878 casting reel. This model was manufactured from 1931 to 1941 with a 2 1/3: 1 gear ratio. The side plates are made of Bakelite and the single counter balanced crank came with a wood handle painted in black enamel. This particular reel has lost some of the plating on the spool. Crank and foot and has a chip in the side plate which can be seen in the forth photo. The crank and spool turn freely and the clicker is strong and load. The mechanism which turns the clicker on and off works well. The reel foot has NO signs of being altered in any way. In terms of appearance this Golden West No. 1878. Does have the typical grime and tarnish you would expect from a 7 0+ years old reel. Overall I would say the reel is in good condition given its age and should clean up to make a fine ... moreaddition to any vintage reel collection. Vintage:PFLUEGER - SUPREME 1573 Bait asting Reel Early Model from 1936
Up for Auction is a Vintage PFLUEGER SUPREME No. 1573(1936) Bait Casting Reel with Cork Spool Spacer. Pflueger manufactured the first Supreme No.1573 in 1916 and continued building this basic model with minor modifications over the years until the early 1960’s when the model number changed to 1575. Over this period. By my count there were about 20 variations of this basic style reel. The version being offered here is what I believe to be the 10 t h version and was manufactured in 1936. The face plate has‘ PFLUEGER SUPREME’ MADE IN THE USA’ stamped rather than cast which was the case with later versions. Also stamped on the foot of the reel are the words PATENTED along with PATENTS PENDING and 9 patent numbers which are clearly shown in the photos. The 10 patent numbers tell us the year(1936) that this version was first made. Mechanically ... morethe reel is in very good condition. There are NO missing screws. Both end caps are present and the foot of the reel has not been altered in any way. The crank and spool turn freely as well as the handles on the crank. The clicker is strong and load and the mechanism which turns the clicker on and off works smoothly. In terms of appearance. I have not cleaned this reel up since I first came by it and have displaced it a shown in the photos. The reel has the typical dirt and grime one would expect from a reel over 75 + years old and finish on the reel itself. Looks good. The foot and lower bars do show some loss of plating where the brass is showing through. This reel will make a very nice addition to any collection of Pflueger Supreme reels. Up for bidding is this Rare Pflueger 1888 Interocean Reel circa 1936- 1940's. Stunning old reel has brass frame. Melamine side plates and a leather thumb drag. Brass has a beautiful golden patina with some green spots on the drum sides. Center hub is cork that is in very good condition. One side plate has a crack extending across from edge to edge. Everything seems to work. Crank knob shows the most age being cracked and dried through. It is still stable and strong. Please see photos for better detail and condition views. This auction is for a very nice package which includes an old Pflueger Ohio freespool surf casting reel. Its box, original hang tag, operating and maintenace paperwork, a wrench, extra fiber washers and information on tarpsail line. The top of the box contains a line capacity chart for tarpsail line. For example, this model 1979 reel would hold 125 yds of 27 lb test line. About 10 miles of today's braided line) The reel is in remarkably good condition. Much better than the pictures portray. The stamp on the bottom of the box indicates the reel was inspected in April, 1939. The chrome is shiny, the clicker is very strong and the reel operates very smoothly. The knob on the large counterbalanced handle looks like bakelite or hard plastic. The box is worn at the corners and edges but has no splits or tears and the graphics are great. I purchased this reel new in the 1970s and used it from time-to-time until about 1987. The reel is in excellent working order. But, as you can see from the photos, the cosmetic condition is definitely"used" The lines are by Scientific Anglers. And both the floating line and the sinking line are double taper 6 weight. I can't guarantee the condition of the fly lines, but they look OK as they lie on the reel.
