Vintage ? Calypso Beachcomber Spinning Reel
Vintage Calypso Beachcomber 360/B spin reel This spin reel was made about 10 years ago and wieghs 17oz. It will hold 315yds. of 12lb. test. It is in excellent condition and everything works very well. This reel has only very lite scratches. On some of the edges. The bail, drag, gears, rolling roller and anti-reverse all work very well. This reel has a 4.6/1 gear ratio and it is a grade 9/9 and is a fair quality fishing reel and comes full of good line. The reels I sell are 98% used. And in between 20& 100 years old. Most are far from perfect, so I some times use the Orca grading system, the first no. is how it looks and the second how it works. A 5/5 would be for parts and a 10/10 would be new. VINTAGE MAR-VEL MODEL FWA BAITCASTING SPINNING STAINLESS STEEL FISHING REEL
This is a vintage Mar-Vel model FWA pivot combination spinning reel manufactured by O'Brian Ind. of Hawthorne. California. Produced in the late 1940's and is made of stainless steel, plated foot& line guide, and bronze. The reel cast like a spinning reel and retrieves like a fly reel. Reel could be used for fly fishing. There is a lever on the reel foot to release the spool so that it can be rotated 90 degrees to cast, and then rotated back to reel in. The spool also rotates 180 degrees to allow right or left hand retrieve. The reel has a drag adjustment knob on the face of the spool. The drag is in good shape. On the crank handle side is an anti-backlash adjustment to avoid birdnests. No missing parts. Reel is fully functional. I used the reel and caught a under-sized striper with the reel. Cardinal Maxxar, Open faced spinning reel by Abu Garcia,
This is a very nice older reel with a good bit of boat rash. The reel works smoothly and the anti-reverse works well. The handle collapses as shown in the pics. The reel is the long cast model with 6lb test on the reel. You will probably want to replace the line. The bail has to be reset by hand after casting. But that is common and I have always done that myself. Designed for 4, 6, or 8 lb test line. I have two of these up for sale. The only difference between them is the color of line on the spool. You might get either spool. Both show wear or boat rash.

I have a good working older model Cardinal MAXXAR open face spinning reel. The reel has some 6lb test line on it now. Probably needs to be freshened up. But you can try it. Everything turns smoothly, but the bail needs to be returned after casting, by hand. Quite common for these to not want to return by just cranking the handle. Never bothers me, it's automatic. I have two of these for sale that are identical except for the color of line on the spool. You might get either spool. Both are designed for 4.6, or 8 lb test line. Both show a good bit of wear or boat rash.
