St. Croix Imperial Graphite 4-PC Fly Rod Model PTF-8656. This is a 8'6" all graphite rod 5/6 wt. It is a 4 piece rod. Comes with the original tube and bag. I purchased this fly rod in the early 70's to use backpacking/travel. Used briefly for a season and then it was stored until two years ago after which I used it a few times out and put it away again as I started building bamboo fly rods and began to exclusively use them. The fly rod is in very good condition. The cork has been patched in the past. See photos. The ferrules, wraps, reel seat, etc are all in great condition as is the rod itself. There is a slight scuff near the end of one of the ferrule joints, but it really doesn't break through(I tried to capture in photo) I am selling the rod as I now have made several bamboo rods of various weights and have taken that ... moreup as a hobby so I only fish with them.

Here is a barley used. As new, St. Croix Imperial IFT906. This rod is a USA made 9ft, 6wt, 4 piece St. Croix that comes with the original rod tube shown in pic. The tube has an integrated sock/separator that keeps the sections from hitting each other while stored. Rod is a medium/fast action and is superbly easy to cast and very forgiving. Not a mark anywhere on the rod, perhaps the slightest hint of cork beginning to darken. I purchased this as a backup rod on a trip a few years ago and to be honest. Listing is for a lot of broken rod parts that are good for parts/repair or maybe making some ice rods from. These were purchased a while ago with the very same intent. But I do not have time to make rods. I'd rather tie flies so these are just taking up space. Please refer to pics for size and types. The first few pic(1-4) depicts all SCIII st croix avid blanks that range from 21-60" in length. The pics 5-9 depict mainly SCII blanks that range from 14-28" and the few on the right are some blanks striped of their guides. I thought somebody may want the blank portion as I was just going to toss it. There are 6 stripped blanks where 4 are SCIII blanks, one is an older croix elite(green SCIII) blank, and the last one is a gloomis NRX blank. I've owned this St. Croix since new and it's in excellent condition. I had it paired up with a Shimano Curado 200 DHSV and it was a great combo for catching bass here in south Florida. All the guides are straight and true. This rod has never been damaged or repaired. The reel seat and cork are in excellent condition. The cork is just a little dirty. St Croix Wild River 8' 0" Extra Heavy Fast Action Casting Rod
These rods are designed for salmon and steelhead fishing and the rod I have is designed for"back bouncing" I went through every rod in theSt Croix line looking for a rod for deep cranking. Big spinnerbaits in deep water and for the Alabama rig. None of the bass rods match up to the capablilities of this rod. Unfortunately, most of the salmon and steelhead guys want 2 piece rods and St Croix stopped production on this one piece model two years ago. These are the last of their kind and the best rod I could find for the application. This is the rod I use for ultra deep cranking. When paired with a Calcutta 250 and 20lb Power Pro braid you can reach 20 feet routinely. I can out reach the guy in the front from the back of the boat and that means my crankbit has a chance to run deeper than anyone else. This rod is also a great swimbait ... morerod for baits up to 8 oz. This is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity since this model is no longer in production.
