6 ft 4.5 In St Croix Refurbished SC-66H Baitcasting Fishing Rod
Up for auction this weekend is this St Croix SC-66H I'm thinking this one may be the victim of a botched refurbished operation. It uses a foam handle as opposed to the traditional cork. The line guides are tied on with blue wire. The tip does not match the rest of the guides. The forward handle is shot. There is another bite out of the rear handle. There is dirt all over the blank. It measures 6 foot 4 1/2 inches long. I think it might have a couple of inches missing. Please view pictures for condition details. Shipping Understand that due to the length of this rod. St. Croix Imperial IF14010 2-Handed Fly Rod, 14 ft, 9/10 wt - Excellent, In Case
My husband bought this rod a couple years ago from a friend and has never used it; he thought he would get into fly fishing. But that didn't happen and he has moved on. The friend had only used it a few times, so it's in nearly-new condition. It's a St. Croix Imperial 14' fly fishing rod, all graphite, with a 9/10 weight. The pole is in 3 sections, each of which is 57.5" long. Everything on this rod is top-notch, the ends are reinforced internally with cork for added strength without added weight. This is definitely a two-handed rod, not super lightweight but a real casting machine! It was made in the early 90s and is not made anymore, it's becoming more difficult to find them and they usually go fast. It will handle a wide variety of lines. A very nice rod! With it’s 10 foot length and great backbone from the SCv graphite you can get a lot of line through the single foot Fuji guides that were used for less line drag. This would be also be a great streamer rod on medium and large rivers. The reel seat is uplocking and of nickel silver. I attached a small fighting butt. I am very impressed with the St. Croix blanks. They can handle a lot of line but also seem tolerant of the line weight. I have used 5. 6& 7 weight lines on the rod with good results.
