Bob and Bill Johnson of Minneapolis MN. Founded St. Croix rods in 1948. When the company fell on hard times Gordon Schluter, was among a group of Park Falls, WI businessmen who invested in St. Croix which provided capital to fund growth. This group of five eventually bought out the Johnson group. Gordon became C.E.O. in 1965. Bob and Bill Johnson who were not happy with the new direction of St Croix, left the company to begin the Brule Rod Company, Iron River WI. Named after the famous Brule river a highly prized fly fishing river in northern Wisconsin) The design of the new rods was incredible for the time. All hand crafted by locals of Iron River. This auction is for a vintage St CROIX fishing rod pole and with a GARCIA MITCHELL 300 open bail reel. The rod is a model 8000 M. It is rated for a lure 3/8 to 5/8 oz. and is 6'6" long. It is made of graphite green in color. It is in very nice cosmetic condition with nice RARE oval eyes that maybe made of brass with a chrome finish. The graphite is nice and shinny. The labels are still in tack and the cork handle is solid. I will include my older Garcia casting reel that was made in France works smooth and quiet with a nice clicker. I have seen a lot of these on here. But this is one of the nicest! Up for auction is this beautiful. Vintage ST. CROIX FISHING MACHINE telescoping fishing pole and reel set in carrying case. It is like new. The telescopic/collapsing fishing rod measures 15" long when collapsed and extends to 5 feet long when extended. It has an ON-OFF Range Finder and LESS-MORE Drag control knob. This is a must have item for that fisherman in your life. It fits nicely in the compact area of your truck. Car, van, camper, backpack, or even a motorcycle bag. This is a lot of 2 rare St. Croix Viking Series conventional rods. They are used and in excellent condition. These St. Croix rods are handcrafted with pride in the USA. They are model 7704-XH-7' 1 piece, and line wt 50-80 LB test. These rods are solid fiberglass and have wooden butts with blank-thru-handle construction, rubber butt caps, and graphite reel seats with aluminum hoods.
