Vintage Antique Fishing Pole Holiday by St. Croix Fishing Rod
Another rare find in the northwoods of Wisconsin. This 71" casting pole is labeled. Holiday Exclusively Made by St. Croix" It is a two piece rod with a cork handle that needs an end cap. see picture) The eyelets are in good shape with some surface rust/corrosion but it all gives it the vintage look and feel. the color is kind of cream and brown; a very unique and collectible rod. Anything by St. Croix is collectible but this one dates back a ways. Found in an old fishing camp in northern Wisconsin this is a great rod ready for display. It was manufactured by St. Croix Corp, Minneapolis, MN. It has both a U.S. Patent# 3,730,455 and a Canadian Patent# 984,605. The U.S. Patent dates back to 1974 and the Fishing Machine has a 1976 date on it. This Fishing Machine features 4 collapsible rod extensions, a built in reel, a less or more drag adjustment and an off/on range finder. Collapsed, this rod and reel measures just over 15” and extended it measures 60 ½” This unit is in very good condition. The fishing spool holder has a ding on it and some of the black paint is chipped off. The reel works well and the condition of every other part is excellent. For bid is a St. Croix Premier Graphite. Model 5503-MH-6ft. 6in. fishing rod. A nice clean rod. It has been used, but properly cared for. It shows some slight rubs, etc, from usage. The cork handles are in good condition, showing only normal usage. I am not sure of the age of the rod. This was an estate find. Information on the rod reads: Premier Graphite St. Croix All Graphite Made in U.S.A. and 5503-MH 6'6" lure wt. 3/4-3oz. line wt. 12-25 lbs. Overall length is 78 inches with the handles being approx. 22 inches of that length.
