Antique, bamboo fly fishing fod for the 1920-30"s ... morewith a Meisselbach vintage brass reel. I obtained the Horrocks-Ibbotson rod and the Meisselbach reel from an antique dealer in Seattle. WA many years ago and have had it displayed with my vintage fishing collection. Thus, it has not been used. The cork handle on the rod is in excellent condition and guides are in good shape. The rod is approximately 9.3 ft in length and has an extra rod tip. It was made in Utica NY. The entire set is stored in a vintage canvas case that contains an alumumn tube that portects the rod sections. The Meisselbach reel is described below: It is in excellent condition and has the following information stamped on the reel case: Meisselbach Pat. Jan. 14 96. Here is addtional information about the reel: Name: Featherlight#280 Region: United States Maker: Meisselbach Type: Fly Reels Size: 2 1/4" Material: Brass Meisselbach reel manufacture background: Augustus Meisselbach. The son of German immigrants began making reels in his parent's Newark, New Jersey garage in 1885. He contracted with the sporting goods firm of A.G. Spalding to carry his reels and subsequently his brother William joined the fast growing firm. They were soon forced to move into a larger facility to keep up with the demand for their reels. Their Expert model and the later version called the Featherlight became big sellers. They added the Takapart and the Tripart to their product line in the early 1900's and these became big sellers.
