Ideal Fly Fishing Reel Carlton Co Marked Brass Old Vintage Rochester
This reel measures 3 1/4" across and is 1 1/8" wide. I believe it to be made of brass that has darkened with age. The fly reel has elaborate shapes/cut outs on the walls of the spool. The side is marked Ideal. Carlton Mfg. Co. and Rochester NY. Carlton manufactured fishing reels between 1903 and 1920 when the company was purchased. The reel has no deep scratches, odors or repairs. The reel turns great, but the clicker doe's not work, the cog is broke. Being sold as is no returns.

The condition is good, it has some black paint loss, scratches from use and the metal is aged/patina. The silver part that attaches to the rod has a touch of rust. The fly line is yellow and about 1/2 full. The spare spool is full of green line DT-5-F AIR-CEL shows less wear but you can tell it's used. I switched out the spools so that works fine. There is some of the gold finsh rubbed of in a couple of places as you can see in pics. There is a slight hairline in both the reel handles. But both are still tight and they do not affect winding in any way. The guy I talked with at this sale said it was made in 1948. Manufactured by Ravenna Metal Product Co. in Seattle WA. Here we have a good example of the Sharpes of Aberdeen"Aquarex 350" 3 1/2" diameter alloy Fly Reel. The reel is 1 1/4" across. Comes in the original box. Which is a bit worn and the corners are torn. The reel spins and works great. This reel is in very good to excellent condition. With the only blemishes to the blue paintwork being some minor chips and rubbing wear to the outer edges, being sold as is no returns. Over the next 2 month's i will be listing over 660 fly rells from Abbey& Imbrie,heddon, hardy, brass english,and pflueger, with lots you have never heard of, so save me as a seller.

VINTAGE ATLAS"PORTAGE' MINIATURE FLY FISHING REEL This very cute and collectable miniature vintage fly fishing reel which fits into the palm of your hand. It measures 4.5cm x 4.5cm(excluding handle) Its name plate features a rising sun. A fisherman, with a Canoe on his back, heading out for the day's fishing. It appears to be either nickel plated or German silver plated. The rod mounting plate has the number 40 stamped into the plate, I dont know if this is the model number or the reel number. It still has a small quantity of line wound onto the reel. The plating has some thin spots, but any collector buying this may want to have it restored, although it is still in attractive vintage condition. It appears to work smoothly, there is little apparent wear in the winding mechanism. This is a very interesting rare collectable reel ... moremade in the USA, date unknown, but appearance would suggest somewhere from 1900- 1925? This reel is marked on the top. Miracle Silent Automatic. on the bottom side. Kalamazoo Tackle Company. No. 1697. Model D. on the bottom of the reel foot it shows. Made In U.S.A. Pantented. This reel does turn good/smooth when you wind it up and push down on the lever that sticks out as you see in all the pictures. As you can see in the pictures it has paint wear and there is a small dent on the top as you see in picture 2 above the handle. Good solid true sitting spool, nice drag cap, good frame, very good foot and good cranks and very good line guide. Reel cranks nice and smooth. With good variable smooth drag and clicker and clicker switch work well. Please make no te of the lever as mentioned(you can see this i n the 4th photo) and otherw ise still a good looking and very nice working reel ready to fish.
