This auction is for a Berkley Cherrywood C30-7 pole with a South Bend ORENO# 1196 reel. The 2 piece pole appears to be in good condition and measures about 81 inches long put together. I am not sure of the age of either the rod or reel. But they look like older items to me, but I am not an expert in this area. Both rod and reel look to have normal type wear as they are a used item. The reel is a mystery to me. I am not a fly fisherman in any sense of the word and really can not figure out how to work this reel. What I can tell you is that there is no line in the reel but it will turn very easily forward and back. The reel does have some writing on it. It appears to say South bend Quality Tackle NO 1196 ORENO. Please study the pictures closely to determine condition and age. Any questions please let me know. Design is unlike anything previously or since produced by Hardy sold under their own name. Reel is 3 7/16 inches in diameter by 1 1/16 inches wide. Cast of a newly developed magnesium alloy the reel is extremely light weighing a mere 3.1 ounches- more than 30% lighter than comparible sized Hardy reels using traditional cast aluminum ... morealloys. Most suitable for 5-7 weight rods. Reel is in good mechanical condition and has all its original parts with no loose rivets or screws. Cosmetically I would rate this reel as just fair to good- it has obviously been well used. Unfortunately, the finish Hardy used plagued this series of reels during its entire production. Reel can be fished with right or left hand retrieve by simply inverting the single click pawl and reversing the single screw, double prong chromium line guard. Minimal"drag" may be applied via a plastic knob on the reverse which works on a spring that regulates the pressure on the single click pawl. Terrific clicking sound. In Ainwick, England in the 1960's, and not a contemporary reproduction manufactured in Asia. It measures 2-7/8" diameter, 1" wide and weighs 3 oz. with a usable 50 yards of backing on reel. Left hand wind reversible to right hand wind easily. Adjustable drag with the famous Hardy click. In perfect working condition. A genuine usable collectible. The Featherweight was the second smallest of the Lightweight Series Reels that Hardy made. This early original Hardy model has two screws instead on one on the line guide. Vintage Kalamazoo Tackle Company"Empress" fly fishing reel. Model 1689. Reel cranks smoothly and has clicker sound(not sure how to turn clicker off or if is designed to always be on. There is finish wear, and there is either touch up that has been done or there is a darker colored undercoat that is showing through(see pictures) The slots of the two stand screws on back are a bit damaged. The oil cap on back unscrews like it is supposed to, the button to the left of it does not move. Don't know what it is for. Also, the"jewel" in the center of the oil cap is loose and have to be careful when taking the cap off or this jewel thing will fall out. Neither the cap or button to the left appear to have any effect on spool tension or clicker sound. So, aside from cranking smoothly I'm not sure if the reel is fully functional ... morebecause I don't know exactly how it is supposed to work. Feel free to email us with questions. Thanks for looking

Although this reel is used. Its in good shape for its age. There are nicks in the finish, that have some rust in them, but the overall integrity of the reel is intact and great. On the body, on the part that connects the reel to the rod is scratched and shows some minimal rust, but again, this doesn't affect the integrity of the reel. Here is an old Vintage Hardy Marquis No 2 Salmon fly reel it is loaded with a Hardy double taper floating weight 11 fly line. The reel is approx 4ins in Dia by 1 1/2 ins wide it has the full metal check inside and not the plastic one and has a ribbed brass foot in good working condition although there is paint loss to the reel especially the rim as this is usual for these vintage reels. A great reel for next season which is just around the corner.

Up for auction is a near perfect Horrocks Ibbotson Mohawk No. 1106 Fly Reel with box. The reel has a 3 1/4" outside diameter. The reel is black and gold and at least from my experience. This the much rarer color combination for this reel. The clicker is very strong. The box is largely in good shape other than there are tears on both opening flaps.

I purchased this antique brass fly reel recently and it was mounted to an early 1900's Split Bamboo fly rod. The reel is made of brass and I could not find any markings at all on it. It is in good condition and it is working well. The reel measures 2 5/8" across and is right at 1" wide. I am not exactly sure what the handle is made of but it looks like bone almost to me. It would be great to use on a small bamboo or graphite fly rod of your choice The reel is marked made in England I am not sure of the exact manufacture date. The reel is set up for LEFT HANDED RETRIEVE but can be also set up for right handed retrieve easily. The reel remains in very very good condition. There is light paint wear around the rim but very minor. The spare spool was probably used but it sure looks any use would have been very limited. There is no fly line on the spare spool-only backing. VINTAGE House of Hardy - THE FLYWEIGHT Fly Fishing Reel w/ case! Made in England
Hi there! Up for bidding is one of my fathers fishing reels. I'm not sure exactly how old it is. But I believe it's been around for a while! The reason I said VINTAGE in the listing is because the cursive/scroll writing on the reel looks different from the newer"Flyweight" reels from Hardy, but I really don't know for sure! Anyhow. The brand of this reel is HOUSE OF HARDY and it was made in England. It looks to be in excellent shape, which doesn't surprise me, as my father always kept everything in pristine condition! The reel says in cursive, Made by House of Hardy, England" and it also says, The Flyweight" There is a peach- coloured line wrapped around the reel. It comes with a blue. Vinyl-type zip case which also says House of Hardy on the top. It looks like there is a small piece of vinyl coming off ... morefrom the case, near the back of the case, where the zipper begins. Please see photos! He also attached a little tag on the outside of the case and it says"2 WT" So, I'm not really sure what that means. Maybe the line is a 2 weight line? Inside the case is a little pamphlet/paperwork from House of Hardy that talks about how to care for your reel. Etc. My dad was a big fly-fisherman. He fished in rivers. Mostly in Connecticut, Maine and Montana. He'd be happy to know this was going to one of his fellow fly-fishermen! The reel measures 3 3/8 inches across and has"The St. George Reel. Pat. No. 24246, Size 3 3/8" Made By Hardy Bros. Ltd. Alnwick, England" impressed in to the back plate. The ribbed brass foot has"Pat. No. 272409" impressed into the side, this is sturdy and well attached, as is the ebonite handle. The agate lined line guide has"Hardy's Pat" impressed in to it and shows minimal signs ... moreof wear, the rim regulator screw moves fine. The reel revolves well with a good smooth action and the three screw release latch works fine. The reel has the letters"T.P. and"L" impressed internally. T.P. are the initials of"Thomas Pattinson" the gentleman who made the reel, he worked for"Hardy Brothers" between 1920- 1930. The reel has the letter"B" engraved in to the face plate and has the usual scratches and scuffs that you would expect from the years of use. But all adds to its' character and charm, so evocative of times and anglers past. We take great care to describe our items as clearly and honestly as possible.
