I am the original owner of this beautiful reel. Think I bought it back around 1980. I fished with it when I first bought it. But took great care of it as you can see in the pictures. It has a few little honest rub marks that I an trying to show in the photos but the condition overall is collector quality, and in excellent condition. The reel has never been opened up so if someone does fish with it new lube would be a good idea. It has been sitting on my fishing shelf with some other listed reels for the last 20 years. I used to be into fixing mitchell fishing reels as a hobby so over the years I have collected a vast majority of parts which were all sorted out by me! It has no chips,cracks,scratches,dings and the chrome and paint are shiney and clean has when new. The only flaw I can see is that the decal on one side plate is a little wrinkled(you can see this in the picture)This comes with the original box,papers and tube of oil,but the wrench and extra parts are missing. You are considering a vintage Pfleuger Medalist# 1495 fly reel. This reel isover 40 years old and it is still fully functional. There is a full load of backing and an old fly line on the spool but I don't consider either to be any good now. I left the line and backing on the reel for the collector to show if he or she desired. The picture shows a bad case of rash on the reel. This is not unusual for a Medalist of this age. 1949-early 50's HELION spinning reel Up for auction. An EXTREMELY RARE, made in France, HELION spinning reel. This reel was made in very limited numbers, and is the FIRST French reel to incorporate a full bail arm system. This was done without the approval of HARDY, which at the time held the patent for the full bail arm system. This particular reel. I have had in my collection for some time, and works very well, with a folding leg, and has better paint than any I have seen for some time now. This reel would make an excellent addition to a serious collectors display case, and considering how often you see these, maybe think about this one. As always.
